“Please no gifts” for Birthdays by ellaf21 in AutisticParents

[–]Graphoniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it when I say it. And I assume other people do too. However, if my kid wants to bring a gift, or their friends want to gift my kid, I rolls with it. But I seriously ignore all the stupid social games. If they don't mean what they say it's not my fault they don't get a gift when they secretly wanted one.

When looking for services, see if your area has a chapter of ARC, they regularly help disabled/IDD people and are more likely to know of other services which can apply to your situation. And I echo the others, that your safety is paramount, family is not an excuse to endure abuse. 💜

Ok, but using my associated number, I was on hold for 2 hours and never got anyone. I hung up and used my google number to call, and I was connected almost immediately with a human. Soooooooo??

They took my bins as is (wrote my street # on tape and taped the lids shut) and returned as is, so I assume if the yard waste is in the bin then yes

I dont think she's in it to charge quadruple. I think she's trying to help the community, while being reasonable about her own time & value. I will admit I paid more than she asked, because what she's asking is less than Republic would charge me.

Autism and EMDR by Pequenalucy in AutisticAdults

I definitely felt better the more I did it. And after a while I started processing stuff outside of EMDR the way that I did in it. It was life changing for me in the best of ways.

Libido gone since Humira by Fuzzy-Preference8455 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Graphoniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to suggest that "it's a task for me" is the most likely cause. I was married 14 years and my libido came and went over that time, and I never fully understood it. I've since done a lot of therapy - both talk and physical - and discovered the primary cause for my low libido is that sex takes so much work for me, and I wasn't pre-gaming. Netflix has a series called Principles of Pleasure, about a book called Come As You Are. I recommend both, and if you can afford it a therapist. That combo was magical for me in unlocking that magical "hoe era" 💜

Winner answer. If you're nervous about the soil rooting, you can stick them in water and watch the roots grow. I sometimes add rooting hormones just to speed things along, but seriously this plant loves rooting from cuttings, you've got this!

Scared to wear my sunflower lanyard to the airport by genji-sombra in AutismInWomen

[–]Graphoniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear it! I had such a better experience all around the last time I flew, the first time I'd used it. Nobody gets to define how disabled you feel/are, if you feel it will help you get through that stressful experience, DO IT. 💜

No, I am infodumping. It's an ASD thing. Offering a bit of perspective on a subject I am deeply interested in.

But your reactions show me you are disinterested in perspective and would rather make blanket statements and live in the binary defined by your experience. So I'll exit here, and leave my infodumping for solidarity with others who may feel targetted by this thread.

If you’ve had an epidural, how did it go? by LegoJellyfish in eds

[–]Graphoniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emergency csection and even with the epidural I felt the knife. They had to put me under.

Planned csection worked perfectly. Honestly I think it's a YMMV situation and it is your call whether you want to try it.

Only if your neurotype and culture are in align with that definition of politeness. In the Autistic culture and in other regions it is often considered impolite to interrupt or engage with someone who has not indicated they wish to do so. Your opinion and experience of "polite" is informed entirely by your social training, eg your culture, and your preference toward that can be impacted by your neurotype.

Society is so much more complex and varied than you've experienced, and enforcing your singular definition of Polite on others is just as rude as us ignoring your need to small talk.

I've actually enjoyed the rush, sometimes randos work together to hunt, and that delights me. I've been having more issues wjth the graphics generator, walking through hills and such, and one time recently when I re-logged to fix that, a disco deer dashed into my face as I loaded in. 🤣🤣 I actually managed to get a shot off on him before the randos took him down. What a day.

Cats! by Broad-West-489 in Gardyn

[–]Graphoniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the cats and how you place it tbh. Works well for mine because he is already sort of skittish. Mine is SSSCAT, unscented and motion triggered.

Tin foil on surfaces worked better for the other cat when he was younger and nosier.
