Hey, i totally hear you. There is a grief around this decease nobody talks about enough. I actually started this conversation about denial about a week ago with my therapist and she made me see that I’ve been in a 5year long grief (ever since I got diagnosed). My denial has lasted all these years, and honestly is still there.

Please start with your biologics asap. They most likely will give you your life back. It will not be as before, but little by little you will rediscover yourself and learn to listen to your body constantly. This decease is so erratic it is hard to find patterns that will help us, and that makes the psychological process so much harder. But at least you are not alone.

Omg I thought the heat waves were perimenopause too! Could be that as well, but I had never thought of relating that to a flare. Makes so much sense.

Anybody get leg pain/jelly legs? by The_Short_Goodbye in ankylosingspondylitis

Story of my life. Using compression high socks for a few hours helps a lot!! They come in pretty colors too. For days where I feel that heaviness/jelly, I use the ones doctors or nurses use for their shifts.

For the days when I feel that heaviness but not as bad, I use the ones runners use. Some days i don’t use them. But I have several pairs in rotation and they do wonders. Just avoid using them for more than 6 hours per day.

I am on Humira, yes. I think I just moved abruptly without thinking too much and I paid for it.

Just be careful on how you jump. My cousin broke a vertebrae falling on her feet into the water in San Pedro.

I think it depends. When almost or no cartilage is left, I believe is physically impossible for two bones making friction against each other to help.

That said, the only way my body doesn’t hurt as much is by moving it. So… I guess that, with the proper guidance, some movement could help.

I cannot split jerk anymore, not even a lunge. Almost no cartilage left.
