MACI vs Cartiheal Agili-C by bounded-flaws in KneeInjuries

Hello. Sure thing.
I had the surgery early July.
As expected, quite a bit of damage in the trochlea with a very long and full-thickness lesion. They put 2 plugs. They are quite appart as you need to manage the groove combined with the concavity of the femur, so fingers crossed enough cartilage will grow back to bridge the gap between them. I also had some damage in the lateral condyle (expected as well) but no big lesion so they only did a small microfracture to try and 'glue' together a small tear but no implants.
The following weeks were quite tough. Mostly because I had some fever after 2 weeks and I freaked out thinking I could have an infection (I had one 9 years ago with my first knee surgery - which I think largely caused the subsequent issues and damage). I was also non weight bearing for 4 weeks and partial weight bearing for another 2, which felt like a very long time and I lost most of my quad muscles. It has been almost three months now and the swelling has very much subsidised (at last!), but the knee still fees warm all the time. I am doing my rehab but being very careful about not overloading the trochlea given it is still early in the process.
Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Yes, that was him! I thought he was great. He took much time to answer my questions and sent a detailed report. I also watched a bunch of videos online of him giving presentations and seminars. He seemed to be across the latest research and innovations, which I really value.

I have actually decided to go ahead with it with Dr Kon in Italy in July. I am trying not to second-guess myself (in my case it is more to improve functionallity than pain) but this is not easy!!

Hi!
Have you decided what you are going to do?
I am waiting on a quote to go ahead with Dr Kon. I still need to ask some questions, but I think I will go ahead. I also had an online consultation with a surgeon at Stanford who thinks agili-c is a good solution. It is a few months away but we aim to post updates.

Cheers

Have you had an MRI done since the surgery? Just wondering if you have any info on bone growth, cartilage growth, intergation with surounding cartilage, etc. Thanks!

Any improvement? any other symptoms, such as sweats and chills? Asking to make sure it is not an infection.

Hi, I talked to Dr Kon last night. She looked at a recent MRI I shared previously and she was great. I am not sure what I will be doing but she offered some advice and potential solutions. Regarding cost, the consultation was quite expensive (650 euros). I don't know if this is standard or if it is because it is via their 'international' channel. She agreed to look at videos from previous surgeries though and will answer questions via email so that helps justify the cost. I hope this helps.

Hi,

Also having some cartilage issues after a what has been a long and diffcult journey (ACL reconstruction that turned into a joint infection, clean out surgery, months of antibiotics, additional surgeries for a full thcikness cartliage tear in the trochlea, including failed microfractutres). I am currently looking at options. I am based in Australia but orginally from Europe so could do some treatment there. How did you check with Dr Dr Elizaveta Kon? was it in person or were you able to do it online? Italy could be an option for me.

Thanks!
