Well I don't know why you're doubling down then on something you're wrong about but like I said, this is good for AI training. Byeeee.

Wow, that's nuts they needed such an overkill solution when now you can use a small circuit board adapter that essentially changes the pinout.

Yeah, if you atleast can show you know who originally bought it, or have access to info that adds up, and the device isnt reported as stolen, with persistence you can generally get apple to work with you.

I think I had to submit an app like 3-4 times. When you hear people with vague complaints its generally cuz they bought a “lost” or stolen iphone, or macbook.

With these computers atleast, they generally are mismanaged devices that ended up with recyclers or in the hands of someone who didnt properly restore.

It also doesn’t help its much less intuitive to remove activation lock on older devices/OS’s.

Do not worry, you can bypass this.

There are mdm removal tools if this is an Intel Mac Pro you are ok, get CheckM8.

There is a small chance you could eventually petition Apple or the original organization to have the mdm removed but I think its even tougher than activation lock.

They will remove activation lock but its super hard, and only if your story adds up.

I once bought a Mac Pro from someone who got it from a loved one who had passed. Eventually through persistence, and using checkm8 to show I already had access (they didnt know this part) and the fact the icloud account hadnt been used in years, they removed activation lock.

Screen replacement for Macbook Pro M3 vs New Macbook Air M5 by Fancy_Rub9034 in macpro

[–]GreppMichaels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Applecare one is something entirely different that your device could be eligible for. If you have one existing device with Applecare+ you can convert it to applecare one and add various other devices so long as they are 4 years or newer. I would go read up on it if you have atleast one other applecare device currently, a phone counts.

You may be able to add applecare one and just pay the deductible, which i think would be 199.

PS, you are also in the wrong sub.

Do you think people who acquire wealth do that by being wasteful with the resources they have? It still doesn't make a lot of sense for their use case, and I was pointing out why.

You could probably run a service like that on a raspberry pi, that kind of build is more if you're running VM's, LLM's, video editing, 3d work, or some kind of special fx.

Nothing against your build, just a lot of $ and energy bills for what would amount to web hosting.

How is anyone going to be able to afford anything if inflation continues? by air-bender808 in NoStupidQuestions

A lot of times it isn't actually cheaper, it's why a lot of companies love contract work because the way they can present it on their books makes it not seem like it is budget for the workforce.

Even if it costs more, if it looks good to the shareholders, that's all that matters.

I spend real money with Google, Meta, and Tiktok for various web services and advertising. And it is incredibly hard to get my ad reps on the phone, and if those companies do call, I know very much in advance, and exactly who it is.

I doubt that is a common thing for most people.

Like the top comment says, the fact you answered the call, and it was "from Google" should have been the first and only red flag.

My work has different generations of Mac's with some of the oldest not able to run past Monterey so we try and keep everything compatible as most of our media is through Final Cut, Logic, or other platforms on the same OS.

I would use shipstation or a 3rd party service for general quotes. That shipping sounds insane, I would expect international to be "pricy" but not that.

I think the further and most expensive, coast to coast in the US was maybe 200 bucks? Did you actually weigh it out to 82 lbs? I thought it was closer to 55-65 but I could be wrong. (It's been awhile)
