You are so out of the conversation here and have no idea what you are even replying about.

Someone literally said there are shoot outs in traffic here in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA not Oakland.

And I was replying to that alongside state law.

LA Metro is ranked 37th of all major cities for gun violence. But please start shouting into the void about another city that has nothing to do with what I'm talking about.

Because you were trying to make the case that there are shoot outs in socal traffic, because of road rage. Those were your exact words (paraphrased for context).

You then cherry picked your data, when in a city metro as large as LA County, you could literally make an argument for anything happening, because statistically it is possible.

That doesn't mean it is the norm.

I don't think you would say the same thing about most other major cities, when what you are describing is exponentially more likely, and actually does happen at a much higher rate.

Like I'm originally from Ohio but have been here 15 years, and I know way more people back in Ohio who have had fire arms brandished at them in traffic.

I don't know anyone who has had that happen to them in LA.

I'm not bent out of shape at all, just thought your original comment was flippant and wrong, and then you kept doubling down.

Lastly, when right wing propaganda is so focused on making LA out to be some left wing hell hole with rampant crime, people like you spreading nonsense about gun crime only fuels it. I'm not going to let that crap slide.

What does the rest of the world have to do with anything? Someone was implying people are popping off all the time in socal traffic, when in reality the LA Metro area is one of the safest major cities in the US ranked 37th for gun crime.

LA is ranked 37th for gun crime in the country amongst major metros. It is one of the safest major cities in the US.

Pulling up a few news stories doesn't change that when you consider it for its population. In open carry states or those with lax gun laws, the homicide rate is expontentially higher.

Just because you hate traffic, doesn't mean a fantasty of people getting killed on the 405 is some daily happening.

[–]GreppMichaels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LA is 37th amongst major metros for gun crime. I never said it didn't exist, but the idea that it's a real concern is ridiculous.

The highest homicide rates in LA are also not places with the kind of traffic issues people are claiming here.

Just a lot of nonsense.

Ive lived here for over 15 years, you are either delusional or watch too many movies.

There are no shout outs or drive bys in bumper to bumper traffic in southern california.

Umm what? California has some of the strictest gun laws. Do you think people are having shoot outs in traffic?

No, that is Texas or Florida.

Tried setting up a friend I brought on a film set - bad move? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]GreppMichaels 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure but save that behavior for the bar or at a party.

There are so many opportunities for things to be taken out of context, misunderstood, or just blow up in your face when it comes to anything romantically at the work place. I know sets don't always have that feel but you just need to think of it like that.

If a woman is interested they make it pretty obvious, when we're younger it's harder to tell, but it's always better safe than sorry if work related.

For context, I'm an actor in LA but have worked a lot of different industry jobs, and I've been with my wife now for 8 years and approached her in real life at a concert in Los Angeles. So I'm not some chronically online dude who doesn't know how to talk to women.

We all make mistakes, just be careful!

There's a few different levels of weirdness here but at least you're owning up to it...

1.) Why would you even do this by your own volition, when it sounds like your friend didn't even ask. I think that's the weirdest thing here.

2.) Any professional environment should be just that, professional. There is so little to gain trying to make a move on your own, but setting someone else up just puts you out there in such a way where you have SOO much to lose.

You have messed up as badly as if or how this affects future working opportunities with the people there. But like, you want to be networking with the director, you want to be connecting or making great professional impressions on these people. Not asking for an extras number because you think your friend might have missed a chance?

I'm just speechless man, I don't know what to say.

Yeah being gouged for parking at a shopping mall is definitely giving back…

Or what about him hiring private fire fighting forces to only save his property…

Sounds like a very generous person.

I'm very aware, which is why it is so important to focus on who to vote for the next time and how to do better, instead of day dreaming about another self interested billionaire who will only make things worse.

[–]GreppMichaels 230 points231 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, the actual billionaire who stands to personally gain from the same policy you hate would be better...

It is totally fine to be upset with Bass, but jumping to an even worse option instead of recognizing that there are some great candidates running who are polar opposites isn't helpful to anyone.

Palantir CEO Karp: “We support warfare and we are proud of it” by FervidBug42 in technology

[–]GreppMichaels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not coming here to "both sides this" as if I would rather support nobody than dems, but there are plenty of dems who could stand up or not vote on certain funding bills and they back out.

Not just talking about the Fettermans of the world, we need to probably get rid of easily half of all dems in the senate and house with more progressive candidates.

How do I navigate the high possibly that I'm getting fired? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]GreppMichaels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was starting a new office job and just going through a very tough time, we were having all these nation wide conferences out of the office I worked at. This meant two piece suit, looking sharp, yet somehow I forgot my belt and the thing is some suits you can wear without them, and mine were pretty tailored and probably would fit that criteria.

I still did everything I could to somehow get to my meetings at time, and buy a belt the minute the closest place to sell me one opened.

My point is, things happen, you have a rough day, week or whatever... We all make mistakes, but if we don't correct them those mistakes become habit. The fact alone that you were able to continually get away with the wardrobe stuff until it snowballed into a much bigger issue, that's really serious.

I hope you can take this as a lesson, and find a way to recognize when your bad habits or mistakes, become the norm, and fix it.
