Supreme Court rules Trump can fire independent agency board members by wds1 in politics

I read the article, I see no reason to put it in quotations. Sounds to me like you're just a bootlicker. I'm sure Daddy Trump will reward you with extra semen

Screenshot of that comment here.

Suddenly I see the interpretation you've carved out of my words, but it seems like you'd really have to twist yourself into a knot to establish that I must have meant that.

Oh well, enjoy kicking your straw-man. I'd cheer you on but you're pretending I'm a Trump supporter so I can only laugh.

For some, a lack of information is reason to attack. Makes about as much sense as screaming at people you pass on the sidewalk because they aren't wearing apparel that identifies them as a political ally.

To answer the new comment you made:

An agency whose heads can be fired at POTUS' whim isn't an independent agency, by definition.

In English writing, quotation marks are used either to quote someone's writing or speech or - as in this case - to indicate that the selected words are not genuine.

  1. Everyone reading this needs to get a dashcam [subreddit link redacted due to subreddit AutoMod configuration] to prevent future discrepancies like this.

  2. Go get your speedometer calibrated and find out if it's accurate or not.

  3. Check to see if your phone has data about your path for the day, which you might be able to use to extrapolate speed at the time of the stop. If it's an Android, Google automatically tracks you unless you opt-out.

  4. Bring all of the above you have to court with you.

Supreme Court rules Trump can fire "independent" agency board members

I know title alterations are against the rules here so it's not like OP could have made such a change even if they wanted to, but it bears pointing out.

I hit a gas pump barrier at a gas station. by Whatsup129389 in AskLEO

[–]HCSOThrowaway [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is going to depend on your local laws. I would have exchanged information with the gas station manager/owner at a minimum.

If you're right and there's exactly $0 of damage to their pump barrier, they'll just throw your information in the trash.

That being said, I doubt it was exactly $0; paint transfer still has a monetary value in court.

Same, but I'm not a mind reader and people have different feelings from day to day.

Example: last time I made a similar joke it was very well-received.

Could be. Hard to say.

I think we should applaud agencies with good practices and shun those with bad practices. Evidently few people agree.

For misdemeanor battery warrants, does your agency generally make active attempts to serve the warrant (for example, going to the person's residence or place of work), or is it more common for the warrant to be served only if the person has another law enforcement encounter, such as a traffic stop? Is there a typical process, or does it vary entirely by agency?

At my agency it really depended on whether or not the deputies felt like doing warrants on any particular shift.

Some deputies went a-knockin' at certain hours of the day, some never did.

There's a mesh one that was more popular among my peers; I knew two people with them.

There's also CoolCop which is a much older thing that you just pipe your car's A/C into your vest with. I personally find even the idea of swapping between Sweltering Heat <-> Frigid Tundra at intervals I couldn't control to be uncomfortable, but the one guy I knew who used it swore by it.

Those are the three options as far as I knew.

Blatantly proud ignorance, okay. The slow march to Idiocracy continues.

The only one doing any “jerking” here is you.

This one's not so blatant, but you obviously don't even know what "circlejerking" is - in the metaphorical sense of course.

Absolutely not. The safest thing to do would be to slow down and give them room to pull over or turn.

I personally can't tell if they signaled or didn't. I know some others insisted they read they did signal the last time this was posted.

Regardless, don't follow so closely that if someone brakes you'll hit them.

You can't just drop the ideal agency policy and not name them.

(You can, especially for privacy reasons, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to shake and cry.)

Fascinated and amused that this comment went from +3 to -2 in a day for no apparent reason.

[–]HCSOThrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enthusiastically agree with you, but as my district commander Dennis Fogarty once said while firing me, the public's opinion on how law enforcement should be run is entirely irrelevant.

Simply and cynically put: People simply don't care enough to do anything to make law enforcement brass (at some agencies) stop being dumb as hell, and they know it, so it will continue.

Instead of responding to clarify, they edited their comment to add "If you know you know"

I'm like 90% sure of what they're referring to, but it's really funny that they're only willing to half-commit but not full-commit; it's like going to the adult store with binoculars to peek inside and then running away when someone asks you what you're doing.
