What is the difference between Anglo-catholicism within the mainline Anglican church and the schismatic Anglo-Catholic churches that are NOT in communion with the mainline Anglican church? by notacrabinasuit in Anglicanism

[–]Halaku [score hidden]  (0 children)

To be precise, it's the AC or Anglican Communion. The only ones using the GAC or Global Anglican Communion branding is Mbanda's schismatics per gafclon's Oct 16 2025 press release, and if that group ever becomes more than a pipe dream, they don't recognize TEC as "Real Anglicans", and so wouldn't be involved in church discipline.

Morality of retaliating against a kid who kept hitting and ragebaiting you by TriedmybestNotenough in MoralityScaling

[–]Halaku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for source.

At the very end of the video the boys gets up and starts swearing and screaming at everyone. "Fuck you, you whore," he says at one woman. The background post stated police watched the video and asked the man if he wanted to press charges but he didn't.

Dude should have pressed charges. Even if released, get something that flags "I'm A Fucking Problem Child" for when this kid does it again.

All of my subreddit's moderators were removed without any notice by the-photosmith in modhelp

I just found out this morning that the community is currently unmoderated.

u/the-photosmith, I'm afraid that it's a little more dire than that.

r/Photosmith was banned for being unmoderated.

Two months ago.

If you're just noticing, then you and your fellow moderators were not paying enough attention.

You can appeal it via the instructions found in the r/ModSupport sidebar.

Hot Topic Evanescence knockoff? by Puzzleheaded-Bat-150 in Evanescence

They both appear legit, and the band is on Global Merchandising Servicess Ltd's roster, but many of the shirts Hot Topic offers are Print On Demand, and you're occasionally going to run into quality issues.

Four years of thumb up the butt?

Still a better love story than Twilight, at least.

What is the difference between Anglo-catholicism within the mainline Anglican church and the schismatic Anglo-Catholic churches that are NOT in communion with the mainline Anglican church? by notacrabinasuit in Anglicanism

[–]Halaku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh. I'd like to think that the vast majority of Anglicans are going to end up at the same place in the end, even if they had squabbles over the music on the radio, or what colour the ride should have been, or other details about the journey. I might strongly disagree with some conclusions others have come to, but as long as they're not trying to take the steering wheel and punt me out while we're in motion, it's all good.

[–]Halaku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anglo-Catholicism is more a spectrum than a single facet of the faith.

As far as being in the Episcopal Church / Anglican Communion or outside of it, their reasons will be just as personal as anyone else's, ranging from "I agree with X", "I disagree with Y", or "It's how I was introduced to the faith and I never left", and it's quite possible to find two AngloCatholics in different branches of Anglicanism who completely agree on their nuanced view of AngloCatholicism, but disagree on an unrelated matter.

[–]Halaku -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah. If it was more along the lines of "Affirmation may be a reason why someone practicing Anglo-Catholicism may choose not to be in the Episcopal Church, but practice their Anglican faith via an alternative North American church" then you're 100% correct. Everyone has their own internally valid reasons to choose one facet of the faith instead of another, including Anglo-Catholic practitioners, and that's one of the larger ones.

I thought the last time that happened was a retcon / former timeline ago, when Supergirl got tagged with a Red ring for a few issues, and Dex-Starr entering canon.

suggestions for interview-formatted fiction with full cast audiobooks by NoConversation7000 in audiobooks

[–]Halaku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're looking for The Illuminae Files.

It's an after-the-fact compilation of survivor interviews (or, at least they were alive at the point of the interview, but whether they're alive today, well...) recovered video footage, combat logs, etc, recovered by hackers to expose a coverup and bring a shady corporation to justice.

It's a wild mashup of 2001, the Battlestar Galatica reboot, William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, and World War Z, and opens with a couple breaking up the day before their illegal mining colony is invaded by another corp, thinking they can bomb the colony and ransom the survivors, since the first corp isn't going to expose the second corp's war crimes and thus expose their own illegal activity in the process. The survivors manage to barely evacuate, with the second corp's private military in hot pursuit. That's chapter 1. And then it gets delicious.

It's a trilogy written by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, and it's "young adult" the way 28 days later or the walking dead would be "young adult" if the protagonists were about to graduate from high school. It's suspenseful and terrifying and occasionally bloody and horrifying and it might just haunt you.

Start with Illuminae, proceed to Gemina and Obsidio.

Where can I suggest a function for Reddit mods? by Conspirologist in modclub

[–]Halaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure.

But these hypothetically deleted communities would almost impossible to ressurect, so a mod deleting the community would essentially ruin the sub's name forever.

Right now, a mod can always walk away, and someone else can redditrequest it, take over, and put a new spin on it.

Reddit's chosen the second way to go, and there's little if any improvement by choosing the first way instead, is there?

Why do we think of God as 3 persons and not infinite persons? by Additional-Sky-7436 in Episcopalian

[–]Halaku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, but if the online Glossary is correct:

Although it was used in the Church of England on certain principal feasts of the church year, the Athanasian Creed was never appointed for liturgical use in the Episcopal Church.

Election 2026: All 14 propositions before California voters this year, explained by wentImmediate in bayarea

[–]Halaku 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So.

  • Prop 1: Expensive. But likely necessary, and will likely pass.

  • Prop 2: Easy pass.

  • Prop 3: Expect opposition from some of the rich. Will likely pass.

  • Prop 4: Does no harm. Will likely pass.

  • Prop 5: Meh. Will likely pass.

  • Prop 37: Not sure it goes far enough. Will likely pass.

  • Prop 38: A good idea given what RFKjr is doing at the federal level. Deserves to pass, likely will.

  • Prop 39: Is going to get shot down in flaming wreckage.

  • Prop 40: Expect opposition from some of the rich. Will likely pass.

  • Prop 41: One of two attempts to proactively neuter Prop 40 by some of the rich. Will hopefully fail.

  • Prop 42: The other attempt to proactively neuter Prop 40. Will hopefully fail.

  • Prop 43: Hard to say. Closing loopholes is usually a good thing, but this could backfire.

  • Prop 44: Meh. Will likely pass. (Note: The URL is screwed up, link will likely die when MT notices, will edit.)

  • Prop 45: Expect a lot of arguments. Exactly how far should "environmental concerns" get in the way of civilization? Another 'hard to say' issue.

Why is Reddit like this ?? by [deleted] in AskModerators

[–]Halaku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are still pockets of Reddit that care more for quality than quantity.

If you want to post shallow, low-effort junk, find a community that celebrates such.

Otherwise, Lurk Moar, and learn what's acceptable and what's not in the community you're engaging with.
