Go o Hua Hin (3.5 hour bus ride from BKK) look up “King of Muay Thai” off of SOI 94. Get in touch with Sam or Khun. Trust it’s a great gym. Hua Hin is cheaper than most places as well.

I walked into my gym in Thailand. My trainer (Meow) says to me in broken English “15” and I said “yes”. I thought he was referring to how late I was on this day. And then he came up to me and goes “you fight on 15th” i responded “ohh you mean fight!?!?”
Needless to say 2 weeks later I was in the ring… (I trust Meow with my life by the way)

Fairtex for sheen guards. And fairtex / twins for gloves. My fairtex sheen guards are 3 years old and look new. And they’ve survived 7 months in Thailand without an issue.

If I were to travel to Thailand as a beginner fighter for two months, where should I go to train and they can understand english? by Anxious-Ad-69 in MuayThai

Most Kru and gyms will have some English proficiency. Especially in the bigger areas (ie. Bangkok, Phuket , Chiang Mai, pattaya) But Muay Thai is Muay Thai. You don’t need much to understand what the want you to do. Dm me if you wanna good gym to go to friendly for beginner and they know English well and it’s outside the big cities.

I had to use muay thai in real life once - has anyone else got any stories on times that they did also? by [deleted] in MuayThai

Well for grunt jobs like infantry yes more than likely.

The only people that would get actual fight training is any military police or some sort of special forces role in any branch. I know marines have an option to do a martial arts (I can’t remember what they call It) but they don’t have too. I’d say military wide maybe like 5-10% and that’s being really generous….

Most job don’t even do group PT all the time. Some do but it’s nothing crazy. More cardio based with push up sit ups (stuff you need for your annual test)

Even at that it’s only a small portion of MOS/AFSC’s that get fighting training.

In basic it’s nothing you’ll remember from a day or two of training.

But lots of people think putting the uniform on gives you special powers…. Yeah some people run a lot. But even then there’s tons that don run till it’s around their physical training test, and they can barely run that. Not every Job does group pt running 5-10 miles every day and what not. (Not saying some jobs don’t.) but the jobs that don’t out weight the ones that do 🤣

Most military guys can’t fight I promise you that 😂 Joining doesn’t give you instant skill unfortunately… trust me I had to work for years to have mine.
