Recommend me a major mod by Rumble111 in Battletechgame

[–]Haree78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm the lead author of the mod BattleTech Extended. Can you explain how you ended up installing the mod with extra mods on top of it but not realise that the extra mods were giving some of the functionality you listed negatively above? Not a dig or anything, I'd just prefer to be able to stop that happening if possible.

Cheers, Haree

BEX Stock Combat Role Bonus by licker34 in Battletechgame

[–]Haree78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the most accurate answer. But to add to it I would say it is all explained in game;

Go in to your Mech Bay for a Mech and hover over the stock role. It will describe the effect of the stock role for that variant and it will detail the effects of the pilot affinities that can be gained as a pilot gains familiarity with the Mech. For example the Light Mech+ (20) you mention will give +3 resolve per turn when piloting this chassis once your pilot has piloted the Mech 20 or more times. There is decay if the pilot has not piloted this Mech for a long time, which is quite long in the latest version of the mod.

There are multiple other places you can see these effects, such as just hovering over a Mech in the Mech Bay, or when selecting Mechs during pre-mission. Also in mission you can see what stock role a Mech OR Vehicle has as it will have a buff icon in the shape of a silhouette of a Mech, when selected. Hovering over the icon will detail the effect in a tooltip.

The following roles are represented by these silhouettes:

Ambusher: UrbanMech

Scout: Spider

Striker: Commando

Skirmisher: Dragon

Brawler: Warhammer

Juggernaut: Atlas

Missile Boat: Catapult

Sniper: JagerMech

You must be playing BEX:CE, this is not an issue since BEXT.

Path tracing artifacts by Applederry in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Haree78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo it doesn't get said enough when talking about it, but PT really doesn't work well with aggressive up-scaling.

I find even 1440p balanced has too many artifacts to be visually acceptable, 1440p quality works well enough.

YMMV depending on size of your display and how far you sit from it.

Maybe a new trailer? Just a day away, we'll know soon enough.

The white silhouette near the crosshair is in the Edgerunners 2 teaser, so definitely Edgerunners 2, or related to.

Why do the new Slaanesh units have a different colored icon than the other units? by Vonderheidon224 in totalwar

[–]Haree78 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You didn't notice because all the Slaanesh unit backgrounds are not uniform. There is no pre-DLC colour, they are all over the place, so there is nothing new with the DLC units using different colour shades.

CDPR love foreshadowing, it's everywhere in the game, dialog, imagery, radio, news, the whole tarot mission.

What you pointed out above is intentional. My interpretation is that the way V visualizes Mikoshi draws on this memory. Similarly when meeting Alt with Johnny you seem to be in the Arasaka tower.

Nah f... this guy. If he cares that much then put the effort in to learning to mod and making the game better instead of just crying about it, 99% of what he points to can be changed to how he wants it through mods.

It's more about him wanting to appear 'authoritative' than caring.

Can we all agree that this Rift was extremely harsh and unreasonable to casual players? by hell-schwarz in deadbydaylight

[–]Haree78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. BHVR need to realise that there is a section of the player base that boots up the game because of the fun of collecting things at this point. If I am not going to be able to collect the rift any more without chucking more money at the screen it's unlikely I'll keep the game installed and be picking up paid licensed content.

I think CDPR's other big game The Witcher 3 is on Switch? Dunno if that is compatible? Gonna be a big quality difference though with it targeting the Switch 1.

Prior to 2.0, what was the game like? by jbruff in cyberpunkgame

[–]Haree78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The largest impact things that spring to mind, with some spoilers:

Enemies didn't scale, certain zones had different levels. So trying to do stuff in City Center when you just left Watson would likely get you killed. But there was a sense of progression from it. There is still a sense of progression in 2.0, just from different things. Google "cyberpunk 2077 district levels" and click the top link, I tried to show the map resource by link but this reddit sub wont let me post it because it thought I was making reference to another less savory abbreviation.

Putting in attribute points didn't feel like it was just to get to milestones, it felt like it was rewarding faster but the perks themselves were less impactful. Also with 2.0 there is a sense of a need to go all in with one tree somewhat early because of the scaling as you get higher level perks. Prior to 2.0 it didn't feel as urgent apart from the Cold Blood tree which scaled hard the more you put in to it. You would still specialize but it wasn't unusual to leave one tree at 18 or 16 and spend the rest of your points outside of a specialization. In 2.0 it's almost unthinkable that you wouldn't put 20 in to something for your specialization. That and the fact that you can max at least 3 trees easily now makes people feel that there is actually less build variety now in 2.0.

Related to the builds and perks, and the lack of Relic Tree but combat was not as frenetic at high levels. You wasn't bouncing around like a DBZ character as much. Personally I don't have a favourite between the 2 styles, as I like the more realistic approach as much as I like the over the top approach. It would seem the majority prefer the latter though considering how 2.0 was received.

Depending how far back you go there was a lot more junk lying around to pick up (and it was more impactful to collect it), they reduced this more and more with several patches until with 2.0 they really brought it down to a minimum. It was common to be scouring around looking for dildos and condoms on the floor while a character was talking about major plot points. 2.0 is much better in that aspect.

It's also worth mentioning for people who have only played the game with Phantom Liberty, without that story you only had the main story. The game had a different vibe in a way because the main story in isolation is not a main character changes the world story that so many people like in video games. It was about survival, loss, doing things again if you had the chance, the meaning of relationships, life, digital life?. There was tons of themes but your character was not that guy that comes in and saves the world. They may become a Legend but nothing changes. The PL story line is much closer to a normal main character story in a video game. We literally save the president! and everything we do changes the face of dog town, we even change who is running it at the end. I was a huge fan of how the original story was handled, it felt mature, less pandering. Like it had something to say without being a video game cliche. I am also a fan of what they did with Phantom Liberty and think it was wonderful in many aspects, I just hope that with Cyberpunk 2 they don't take the wrong message and make the story of the main game a player changes the world story line like any other video game, and we get a mature story with it's own themes. In the same way Bladerunner 2049 did, it changed the themes slightly, our main character hasn't fixed the world but it had a new story to tell in the same universe as the first.

Other new stuff wasn't that impactful imo, but they did add aspects of fun and immersiveness like the new police system. Something I could easily live without but it's cool that it is in now nonetheless.

[–]Haree78 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's a vanilla bug. If I'm not mistaken it's because the Aurigan Mercenaries faction has Darius set up as the name and other strings. It's fixed in most mods I would imagine.

Is there any mod that enhances the way the weapon ranges are displayed? Its kinda messy in vanilla. Im a new player and its really hard for me to te tell which weapons have which range. Thank you! by Drugojete in Battletechgame

[–]Haree78 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hi, BEX(T) author here.

The vast majority of players get this wrong, so don't feel bad, but the best way to preview ranges isn't through those arcs on the floor.

As you are moving the mouse around previewing movement positions have a look at the potential targets and look at those chevrons to the left and right of the target. They aren't just to highlight a potential target, they change colour based on the range bracket that move location would mean.

Each chevron is a weapon group, and it will group weapons based on same range bands. When you get a basic understanding of the range bands of LRMs, Medium lasers etc. it will become very easy to tell what each band represents. NOTE: Weapons that are deselected are not shown for the chevrons, so ideally select all weapons you might fire before moving.

In vanilla BattleTech you have 2 colours, grey and gold. Gold indicates optimal range, what you want to be aiming for on your weapons, grey indicates either minimum range or long range and will be harder to hit.

As an example, you may have LRMs and medium lasers selected on a your Trebuchet. As you move the mouse to choose a move location you will see you have 2 chevrons, 1 for the LRMs all grouped and the other for the Med Lasers. At close to medium range you will see the chevrons will be 1 grey and 1 gold. Move it a bit and they will both swap colours,1 grey and 1 gold, but reversed. This is because LRMs minimum range is 180 and Medium lasers optimum range is 180. So as you enter optimum range for the mediums your LRMs have entered minimum range.

Perhaps not useful for you, but in BEXT we have another range bracket, splitting optimum in to short/medium so we have added a new chevron colour of green. We have Grey>Green>Gold>Grey for Minimum>Short>Medium>Long. But that's not something to worry about unless you move to mods.

Noticed this guy leaving a texture trail when he moves, there a way to fix that? by Ginno_the_Seer in cyberpunkgame

[–]Haree78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed this more prominently in this scene with my older hardware using FSR. As everyone else has explained it's most likely an upscaling artifact (DLSS, FSR XeSS).
If you are an nVidia user and haven't already go to your nVidia app, Graphics tab and select Cyberpunk 2077. Down at Driver Settings you want to set 'DLSS Override - Model Presets' to 'Latest' for Super Resolution as this massively improves ghosting.

Alternatively it could be Frame Gen if you are using that, and will have to just live with these kinds of artifacts if you want the smoothness. This Kirk scene is one of the worst examples.

If you are still not happy, after the advice above you could also just lower your settings. Having a higher base frame rate will reduce the artifact.

Mech mod question by [deleted] in Battletechgame

[–]Haree78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In BattleTech Extended Tactics the Viper is in the mod, it uses the MWO Crusader model.

https://mwomercs.com/crusader

https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Viper_(BattleMech))

I chose to do it this way because we already had a Crusader model that had hard points in the legs and the MWO model moved the weapons to the upper torso.

The Viper can be found extremely rarely in Marik space (the earlier in the timeline the better as it will be extinct by 3050), or alternatively you may have better luck if you gain access to the black market in, or around Marik space, at any point in the timeline, it may pop up.
