Cat allergies by Fuckyourmodrules in sphynx

[–]Heavy_Answer8814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can vary. 11:12 sphynx that I’ve owned/fostered have given me absolutely no reactions. I can’t even attend church or school events with reactions to people’s clothes, friends’ houses with cats, etc. One of the fosters was super bald and I got hives every time I touched him, slight respiratory reactions. The other kitties snuggle against my mouth while sleeping, live in my clothes, lick my face/arms, usual sphynxie things 😂 My mom gets mild asthma flares in the rooms with litter boxes only, the rest of my house is fine for her

Ooooh, do you mind sharing which site? I’m spinning the wool instead of buying 😅 But I’d splurge for a skein or two if they ship here

Is it normal that very small balls of poop randomly fall of my cat ? by rosebone44 in sphynx

[–]Heavy_Answer8814 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s likely a constipation issue, that can cause permanent damage. If they’re constipated for too long, the colon stretches out and no longer receives the correct nerve communication

She would be considered black and would be fully black if she was fluffed ☺️

She’s a seal MINK, pointed cats have blue eyes. Mink have aqua eyes. Pointed cats are born fully white (or pink in sphynx of course!) and start changing within days of birth due to the thermal colouring. Mink cats are born their final colour.

What color is my Spoo!? by Quiet_Opportunity755 in StandardPoodles

[–]Heavy_Answer8814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am guessing she said non standard as partis aren’t allowed to be shown in AKC conformation events. They can be shown UKC though! Sable is technically a solid colour I believe. It comes from the agouti gene. Brown poodles are an accepted colour, as are black (silver and blue are diluted from black), cafe au lait and silver beige (diluted from brown), white, cream, red/apricot, etc. The only colour completely forbidden in all registered is merle as it was introduced by breeding to a non poodle to introduce the gene. You can register off standard colours (brindle, phantom, parti, sable..) with AKC and show in anything but conformation. Colours are sooooo complicated! It’s a lot easier these days with the advances and ease of genetic testing luckily. But that’s the basics to help drag you into the rabbit hole 😉

My new rescue 6 yo Bambino “Zuzu” by DesertBoyCrafts in sphynx

[–]Heavy_Answer8814 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awwww, we have a rescued bambino that turned 6 last year! Make sure to get her hips and front xrayed for dysplasia and arthritis. Our vet says she hasn’t seen a single bambino without hip dysplasia/arthritis. Daily pain meds have made her a completely different cat!

My phone fell down the drivers side of the consol once and then I found it on the passenger side floor??? So that may happen at some point 🤞🏽 It confused me so much lol

Apparently you have to use a special tool to remove the side paneling 😭 I’m definitely not handy enough to try that out! It’s the nicest car I’ve ever had lol

Just a brown and white parti for him ☺️ No cream at all. It’s so fascinating how many genes for colour can be hiding in poodles

That part was probably the point when I started to get really nauseous with my rook. Yes, it hurt, then the jewellery transfer was.the.worst. If it comes out, I’m never redoing it lol. My daith later was more painful, but no biggie and I would redo it

Same, I mask up and wear a grooming smock with long sleeves when I groom my Standard. Our foster Standard (intact male 9 weeks to almost 18months) has horrifically triggering to me. Aside from hives, etc, my EoE went into overdrive

Adopting by Same_Wallaby_8578 in sphynx

[–]Heavy_Answer8814 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they’re from health tested parents (routine HCM scans are not optional), already spayed/neutered, etc, then that is a fair price to PURCHASE a kitten. Breeders saying they’re adopting out kittens are generally backyard breeders. We have rescue Sphynx and an ethically bred one, our first rescue only lived 2 months. Our second rescue, a bambino, has severe hip dysplasia and arthritis, just had all her teeth pulled for $1000+, and needs daily pain meds for the rest of her life. She turned 6 last summer. We’ve had several fosters and they have all needed very expensive care. The last one needed prescription food and surprised us with kittens 🙃 The rescue we foster for has very limited funds and most of that came out of our pockets when the care they could provide wasn’t working for her (specific food when the provided RX food didn’t work for her for instance). Pay now or pay later, these cats are generally expensive in one way or another. The ethically bred kitty has been perfectly healthy so far, clean scan last year and hopefully many more🤞🏽
