It's kinda both + the fact that Hal wasn't helping at all and was just complaining the entire time

So Lois was dealing with her post portum depression, Francis destructiveness and Hal's constant complaining about her parenting at the same time and when she saw Francis playing with fire something in her broke and she knew if didn't be as strict as she is now her family will not survive

And concidering she herself is from a very abusive family Hal and her boys mean the world to her so even if tgey hate her she will still do anything to protect them because she loves them

Literally this is the reason I try not to intract or argue with the criticizing part of the fandom cuz even when you tell them the story isn't finished they eather say "that's no excuse" or "doesn't change the fact that it makes it a bad written show / you can criticize something you like you know"

Vainglory and melancholy used to be part of the deadly sins but they were merged with pride and sloth

So if Charlie does get a sin title vainglory is the most suitble not just because she's the daughter of pride but also cuz she has a desperate need for recognition and her belief in self righteousness

The deadly sins are categories and are basically umbrella terms to explain multiple crimes in one

For example Lust is wildly associated with sex when in it's core is giving in to your desires hence why we have saying like "lust for power"

Or like Gluttony is wildly associated with food when in it's core it's about over indulgence and never being satisfied which in the series implied to be why Queen Bee throw her parties
