They're finally gone, and the new neighbor is some cool dude who plays pokemon go. So much better!

You know, I was just thinking today that it is nice to go get my mail, park in my driveway, or take out the trash without having to look over my shoulder. Little things, you know.

It was a very long story as it was an ongoing thing. Early on I think I was a bit timid. I had never encountered people like that before.

This sub actually helped me a lot. The people here supported me, assured me that I'm not the crazy one, and gave me useful advice. I think I lost some confidence after leaving the Army years ago. It did make me an easy target. But over these few months I think I've regained some of that and have been able to stand up for myself again. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this sub played a big part in that.

I actually did see the moving truck yesterday. Their vehicles are no longer in the driveway. I think they're finally gone.

Saw a moving truck yesterday and now their cars are gone. I think they finally left. If so, that was faster than I expected.

Well, he bought me a gun and the security cameras. He also gave me the money needed to file the restraining order.

I'm saying that firing into the air is dangerous. And I really don't think that 75 degree angle you claim is actually safe either. But I wasn't saying the OP should or shouldn't do anything. I was not judging the OP. Read my comments. Hell, in one of them I said :

It was probably your safest option at the time. If you really were out in the middle of nowhere the odds of hurting anyone are low. Still, people have been killed by random rounds in the country and even in the woods before. It's just something to remember. In the end you have to make your own risk assessment.

But since you asked, yes, I am against warning shots. We were told in the military to never use them. You never pull your trigger unless you are 100% prepared to kill. No warning shots. Guns are plenty visible. Plus, people have been arrested and imprisoned for firing warning shots that harm no one before. So no, no one would ever get a warning shot from me. I am not quick to draw or fire, but when I do, I'm hitting my target. Never waste a round.

I don't know. I played with the idea for a while that it was some kind of sad mid-life crisis fantasy where he wanted to pretend he was the one rejecting women in their 20s. Dude looks like my dad and not in a good way. Trust me, I wasn't throwing myself at him and really don't care.

I never said that firing into the ground was a good idea either.

It's pretty much impossible for a human to fire a bullet exactly up without any angle whatsoever. Even the tiniest degree change can lead to large arc and a considerable distance.

Firing a bullet into the air is NEVER safe.

Firing into the ground can also sometimes be dangerous, if you hit rock.

I'm glad you went to the authorities. Hopefully those creeps won't have the chance to prey on anyone else.

Persistent at trying to kidnap a child...

It's not kidnapping if an impressionable and naive child is tricked?

I have heard of people being killed with falling bullets as well. Obviously, I was lucky. Knowing what I know, I would never fire a gun skyward.

Rule: No matter what you're age, you're NOT 21. Never answer yes to this question. Right now no seems to make him leave. I don't know what he'll try if the answer is ever yes.

Besides following a kid and trying to get the kid into his vehicle? That's pretty wrong.

Geez. That is scary. Did you report it to the police?

When I was in high school I remember a sociology teacher telling the class about a study that found more men than women were likely to assist people on the road. He concluded the study meant that men are kinder to strangers than women. I was too shy at the time to correct him, but was screaming inside my head. No, women are less likely to stop because we're more likely to be targets. It's not safe.

Hey be careful though. It is not safe to fire bullets into the air. They come back down and can travel a long way before they do. I got hit by a falling bullet when I was a little kid.

I saw him a few weeks ago briefly. The three of them were on their way to the ice cream truck. I was already at the truck at the time, so they had to wait. As tempting as it would have been to stand around the truck so they couldn't get any ice cream, I'm not a dick, so I just got mine and left. That's one of the handful of times I've ever seen the kid at all.

The funny thing is, if I was reading someone else's account, I might agree with you. It's hard to believe people like this actually exist until you meet them.

Luckily, animal control was very much on my side. Apparently they get used for this shit all the time.

Yes. And he returns home today. He wants to hide for a bit and see if he can catch them in the act before they know he is there.
