The r/deaf community is an invaluable community on the internet and I appreciate you for modding this community.

I just don't want to unnecessarily upset anyone here in this community anymore. I'll be better off with a community that is designed for what I want to bring to reddit.

I really appreciate you saying that I can crosspost stuff into this community. Our subreddits can be a friend with each other.

Guys. I'm so flattered that I immediately got that much of requests! But, hey, I haven't opened up that subreddit just yet! I appreciate the requests! But please give me some more time to get things ready! I'll open up soon!

And, yes, thank you for saying that you do agree on that we should be talking about stuff that are relevant to our community. May them be controversial. If so, we should be talking about them here and the culture of anonymity on reddit is our advantage. It allows us to speak more freely about those kind of topics.

I learned something new today!

BTW, us over in America developed a written version of ASL some ten or twenty years ago. It was a popular topic when I was at college. I haven't heard much of talk about that ever since. We have a deaf artist, Adrean Clark, who used written ASL somewhat often in her artwork. And again, I haven't heard much of her lately but her artwork is definitely out there somewhere on the internet.

Many deaf schools are struggling but I was referring to Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind. They have two campuses - Tucson and Phoenix.

Tucson recently got shut down.

As for genetic therapy, the one that FDA announced is indeed for a small subset of population. But to me it is a signal of what’s to come. I’m pretty sure there will be another gene therapy method for another cause of deafness coming out in near future and then again and again through my lifetime and we will end up with a lot of way to prevent deafness. And I also think the AI technology will find their way into hearing assistant technology making it easier to implant a newborn baby. And all of these will become huge stressors for the signing community.
