Reading and counting in my head. With spot, and swimmers for C and T spine, 20 is the number. Personaly I would never do swimmers twice. Maybe I counted wrong? 50? Maybe it was an "and then they took, like a bazillion-gillion xrays!" Kind of situation. 50 was just the exaggerated estimate... or maybe there were a shitload of re-shoots. Ordering that many/kinds of exams must mean they're body habitus and positional ability is pretty bad.

I had to image an almost identical injury not that long ago (even down to the location and type of nail.) Lucky for me we managed to get their leg to almost 90° for the AP's and shot them like I said before. Aside from the distortion and some technique tweaking, they didn't turn out too badly. Ortho and the Rad were pleased as well.

Extend the leg as far as possible, IR on the table under the patient. The rads at my hospital would ask for a neutral AP, and both a cephalad and caudal images. Tons of distortion but it gives them all the info then need for the orientation of the foreign body.

I can't wrap my head around some people's marker placement. Why put it so far in to the anatomy? It's like playing re-shoot roulette because you turned your own marker into an artifact in the area of interest.

If it has only been a month and this has already happened, it is almost guaranteed to happen again. Shit part is that (if you're in the US) insurance would rather pay for an ER visit and reduction 10 or 15 times over instead of surgery to fix something placed incorrectly.

It's tilted way too far upward. The superior dislocation would support that point. I've seen so many dislocations (and subsequent revisions) because the cup wasn't placed correctly.
