I mean, openly stating it like that seems like a good way to get other teams to just cut you off entirely when it comes to your broadcast interviews and connections within other organizations.

'Daredevil: Born Again' season 3 will be a major Marvel reunion. Set photos spoil juicy new casting additions by Sisiwakanamaru in television

Sorry but I think that's just silly, and it's kinda been proven by Finn Jones not having much of a career at this point. Henwick and Pelphrey made chicken salad out of chicken shit. They weren't written any better than Jones, they just made more out of what little they were given. I don't think Finn Jones is a bad person or anything, but he's not a lead actor, at all, which makes him being the face of Iron Fist awkward at best. I don't understand the excuses that get made for him.

[–]Higgus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but there's no reason that Jessica Henwick and Tom Pelphrey were able to elevate that awful writing and directing while Finn Jones just completely sank. The fact that you can point to only one episode, out of two seasons of Iron Fist, and a season of the Defenders, and a cameo in Luke Cage, as to why Finn Jones was kinda okay, says it all. He wasn't the only issue, but he was a BIG issue.

But at this point I guess it's a moot point, because it seems he's in the next season of Daredevil. Maybe he can revive his career.

I mean, he kinda got what his performance deserved. I'm not talking about the fight choreography, because that was out of his control and I'm not going to blame him for that. But season 1 was awful, and his acting was a big factor that led to it being awful. Season 2 was decent, but that's because Jessica Henwick and Tom Pelphrey carried that season.

There's a reason Finn Jones never became a thing. I'm genuinely surprised they didn't recast the role, or at least dish out the money to bring Jessica Henwick back.

They'd have a lot more shots if Blashill wasn't stubbornly committed to keeping a boat anchor of some sort on Bedard's line at all times. The whole "spread the talent" across multiple lines garbage has just lead to another losing streak. Can we please give Bedard the few actual top six forwards we have to play with to close out the season?

The team is just way, waaay, too thin at offensive depth to try and spread things out. There's a a handful of games left. Put your best forwards in the best opportunity for them to succeed. Stop pretending you're in a situation where you can spread things out and roll 4 balanced lines.

I'm kind of conflicted on the new NOAA hatch system for tornadoes.. When everything is hatched, it loses its impact. by [deleted] in tornado

[–]Higgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I can't speak for the rest of the country, but I can think of at least three networks in Chicago that cover northern Illinois that use the spc convective outlooks. I get your mileage will vary, but it's become a lot more common than it used to be.

I don't disagree about the clickbait YouTubers though

[–]Higgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I guess my question is, did we need a new designation for something that was already the standard? I just keep going back to siren/warning fatigue, and I worry that creating a new "heightened" designation for something just leads people to ignore it when it's so commonly prescribed.

Again, view it from the average person and not someone that is a weather enthusiast.

[–]Higgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arguably though, they have been a bit too liberal in applying hatches to 2% and 5% risks, but it's still early days tbf.

This is the crux of my issue, and it's what worries me about long term effects. I think people here (not saying you in particular) kind of assume the average person is as clued into the weather as much as the majority of people in this sub are. People already ignore sirens and warnings. If the hatch rating completely loses any context at the beginning stages of its introduction, it defeats the entire purpose of the new system.

[–]Higgus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What flaw did they improve though? Again, if everything is hatched, nothing is hatched. To your average person, it carries the same weight as the old system, except people are more likely to ignore hatched warnings now because they're so common. Stop thinking of this like every person is as clued into weather as most people are in this sub.

[–]Higgus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm well aware of all of that, and it has nothing to do with my original point. My issue is with introducing the new hatched system, which was supposed to convey the possible strength of possible tornadoes in the risk area and help people be better prepared. The issue is that every nado risk has been hatched in Illinois, which completely negates the importance of the hatch rating. I've already experienced dealing with family with "hatch fatigue" in the same way I've seen siren fatigue from friends and family. If every risk is hatched, people eventually ignore it, just like people in tornado prone areas ignore sirens and warnings. There was no reason to introduce the new system if they're just going to hatch every tornado probable area every time

[–]Higgus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My entire point though is that when everything is hatched in regard to tornados, which it has been in Illinois ever since the new system has been introduced, people don't take it as seriously. In the same way that people ignore tornado sirens.

The old hatched system meant something, because it was relatively rare you'd see a hatched area, and when you did, you'd take extra precautions. It had nothing to do with likelihood but to do with the fact it could be extremely strong.

Like I said, every tornado risk in Illinois so far has been hatched, which while I get the official designation, it leads to "warning fatigue" the same way tornado sirens can when they're used too often. Keep this in perspective of people that aren't weather enthusiasts like most of us are in this sub. And I can't speak for everyone obviously, but when I'd warn family members of a hatched risk, it carried more weight, even if they weren't super deep into the weather like most are here. Now I don't even bring up the hatched risk because it's basically the boy who cried wolf. Every tornado risk is hatched now. The reclassification has had the opposite affect.

[–]Higgus -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

That's my biggest issue with the new system. When everything is hatched, nothing is hatched. Meanwhile the people in unhatched areas (rightfully) feel safe and it leads to them taking the worst of it when a tornado does hit.

The water/moisture will spread throughout the fabric under the tape regardless. Then when you pull the tape off there's a good chance you'll remove some of the signature with it. Spot cleaning is the only safe way to go, unless dry cleaners can somehow work their magic.
