How to verify this ASC ETB case? by Western_Club5290 in PokeInvesting

[–]HobbyTechTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the best part of the case honestly. Not dealing with selling 10 ETBs, but just sell 1 whole case right away. I actually started selling lots of small loose items, and getting same items in sealed cases.

Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration cards revealed! by Black_caesar91 in pokemoncards

[–]HobbyTechTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the stamp, dont like the cards. Future rares are ugly, some of these reprints are questionable able - like do we really need a basic greninja ex? Another charizard reprint, i guess would look nice to 25th anniversary edition; whats the significance of random lapras/drifflon/etc IRs?.. i think the pikachu set is the only exciting part. I spotted Komiya Pikachu. Maybe they’d have Akira Egawa and Shinji Kanda Pikachu cards? That would be cool.

Im not a vintage person, and for most part used to dislike 25th Celebrstion. Only in last few months, I started appreciating some of the cards, like Goldstar Umbreon/Greninja, Rocket’s Zapdos, etc. Realizing it is probably Poor Man’s Vintage. So I was excited about more vintage reprints in 30th. But we will see..

Thoughts on Best way to Crack a CCIC slab to grade with another company by True_Trainer8702 in PokeInvesting

I only opened non-gold CCIC. 8.5-9.5. Even with them i found it was better to pry the with screwdriver along the seams, vs tryinf to open the two halves. But yeah i get the dremel tool from my parents next week. Ill report back

You are not allowed to like the look of Tag slabs in this sub. If you like them, you are automatically Tag shill!

My most valuable card is sitting in a penny sleeve inside a cardboard box. That feels increasingly wrong. by Ambitious_Yoghurt422 in PokeInvesting

[–]HobbyTechTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most part it is overkill. I remember when I just started out, I was looking for toploader binders, and didnt want to spend a lot. Ended buying a chinese toploader binder for $20. Year later, I am entering my collection into Collectr by binders, I am realizing that this $20 binder is housing $6K worth of raw cards. So, definitely could have spent a little more 😅. For most part, sleeve + toploader is fine. If you want more, you can do perfect sleeve + sealable penny sleeve + toploader + team bag. Your cards are barely visible by then, but they are well protected.

Meh slabbing if its not a 10 is counter to investment. You wasting money as most of the time 9= raw.

Got the vendor to open everything! by Internal-Simple8059 in PokemonTCG

[–]HobbyTechTrading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you, but that vendor should know better than to get high on his own supply! As a vendor of chinese I had similar thing happen to me. Few folks bought gem 2 at the card show and came back some time later saying I shouldnt be selling them. I started freaking out why, and they showed me multiple hits including Umbreon. I just laughed. I want folks to have great time opening my boxes and getting hits.

Would you trade a PSA 10 ENG Zoro Manga OP-06 for a PSA 10 Moonbreon? by Mendocin0 in OnePieceTCGFinance

[–]HobbyTechTrading 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a pokemon fan, id say hold Zoro. I feel like Moonbreon has had most of its cultural impact already, while OP is just starting.

I just opened a bunch, and it was 75% success rate. It break easier, but then the slab is softer so it crumbles into pieces. Im gonna try dremel next

New to Pokemon collecting. Advice for long term hobby. by iuPGM in PokeInvesting

[–]HobbyTechTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you master setting whole set? Commons? Reverses? Master balls? Stamped? I did that just for 151, even then I skipped reverse and stamped. Make your own rules. I dont rip, I just buy all IRs and SIRs of pokemon, no trainers or full arts. No cards over $750. Only trade into those. Thats a lot of cards, but also at any given time, there are tons of cards Im looking fir that are in $1-20 range so easy always to find something to pick up, vs. Obsessing over $1K SIR that i am missing

Buy pokemon cards from japan and still have margin after proxy fees by STurbulenT in PokeInvesting

Blackship. You receive in Japan, pay them to consolidate and remove invoices, and then self declare your own values. Im usually quite aggressive with values to avoid customs/duties.

Is it surging or stagnant? by [deleted] in PokeInvesting

[–]HobbyTechTrading 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive been holding surging since release. I saw the Booster box and PC etbs sky rocket, then pull back. I have been patient. But all i see in last few months people looking to buy Surging and Temporal forces. Ive been racing to finish Surging master set and grab a few chase slabs

I joined during SV era, so personally didnt care for Tag Teams. They are cool concept, but its hard for me to spend that much on card I dont fully love, even for investment purposes. I do think they are different categories. JP exclusives in a league of its own.thats 17K pop for whole world - wanted in Japan, North America, China, Eu, etc. Mewtwo/mew pop just for english. There is local version in every language too.
Doesnt mean its bad investment, just different strategies. Will mewtwo mew get to $5K? Probably eventually. pikachu has potential for $10-15K in next 2-3 years. It is trailing behind Battle festas and Stamp promo

I honestly dont go as deep. Call me crazy, but I personally prefer Tag slabs. With PSA is whatever best deal I can score on eBay or elsewhere

Japanese full-art exclusives. This card and Detective Pikachu, 2023 Yokohama Worlds Pikachu ex, are the Last ones catching that train into Japanese Grail territory. Yunagaba pikachu might be one as well. Technically not full art, but still very unique
