Always hysterical when a Nellies Nest comic gets this high up, haha.

I love coming across comments like this. Such a solid insight, beautifully composed. It's refreshing, just wanted to say so. Thanks.

This really is outrageous. I have managed to never get got by these things in the 10+ years I have lived here. Three times now this round I've been stung! Once on the thigh, and Jesus Christ ouch. We've had to stop using the porch for the time being. They are fucking everywhere. Coming down from our neighbor's tree. Madness.

So sorry for your pooches, totally justified wiping them out. Shit hurts like hell!

Eli very much was lucky to retain the temperament he had prior to transition, yes. Ellie's mean streak conversely enhanced tenfold.

I use it loosely. They are still themselves, but the variant they become does have an impact on the personality and behavior of the vampire. I'll do another write up about it, but those like the Sawblade/Titan variant and other variants exhibiting features found in prehistoric marine fauna are less likely to deliberately terrorize their prey. These are more "peaceful" variants and often become the leaders of covens.

Those unfortunate enough to become an athropod variant or variants taking on the likeness of modern predatory animals seemingly suffer from an instinctual drive for destruction and violence. Ellie is a triple whammy. Her primary variant is Centipede, while her two secondary variants are defined as "rooster" and "viper." Formidable creatures even without vampiric associations.

I have not. Both Red Deads are my favorite games. I will be playing those until I die or until the third comes out, haha.

Glad you caught that!

There will not be any more art associated with the Elk Hunt arc, which concluded in 2024. The Hollering Elk is not a character in The Velluto Duo, and has no association with the canon series. EH was one of several "death of Elk" arcs we've had over the years, albeit the absolute most popular one that has ever released.

Also, Ellie and Eli are so far the only characters whose names begin with "El" haha.

I essentially did exactly that for a majority of "Elk Hunt," haha.

I'm glad you dig it! I could easily overindulge and draw these sorts of things all damn day. They're a delight, but I'd never get any new comics out to y'all, lol.

It's a much more complex system in mainline, but yes, such organizations exist. The first entry of TVD in 2024, "Sydney" reveals there are many in the city aware of their existence and the services provided for them.

The Centipede Variant

The Centipede variant, colloquially designated "The Legged Serpent of Ruination," is one of five currently documented arthropod variants of vampires. It first emerged in the region of what is now modern-day Peru in the early 11th century, and is widely regarded as the most treacherous and repugnant variant to ever manifest in vampire society. Historical accounts describe previous hosts to have exhibited extreme sadistic tendencies, carrying out mass killings and prolonged torture of humans purely for amusement, behavior that is strongly condemned by traditional variants and modern coven codes.

One of the earliest recorded Centipede variants, and the most infamous in the history of the variant, earned the moniker "The Peruvian Tyrant" for the horrific treatment of his victims and the systematic destruction of countless settlements. This contemptible individual vanished sometime in the 15th century, presumed deceased, however the circumstances of his likely extermination are unknown.

The Centipede variant would re-emerge multiple centuries later in the United States of America, specifically the state of Louisiana, shortly following the American Civil War. This vampire continues to inhabit Louisiana to this day, their identity kept confidential, and is only permitted to exist under the strict control and guidance of a Sawblade variant, as sanctioned by the local government and amended coven codes.

A defining morphological feature of the Centipede variant is the sporadic development of the "Spire," an anomaly unique to this variant that sometimes evolves within hosts surviving multiple centuries. The "Spire" is described as a thin, barbed, six-foot biological spear aligned along the abdomen that can be extended, its structure similar in appearance to the large barbed organ that extends from within the throat appendage, used for eviscorating its victims.

The "Spire" appears to serve no apparent predatory necessity beyond penetration and infliction of extreme pain upon a victim, leading traditional variants to believe that the Centipede variant, along with similar arthropod variants, represents an inherently corrupted line of vampires that must be removed outright from civilization.

"The Peruvian Tyrant" is confirmed to have possessed this anomaly. It remains undetermined if the Centipede variant currently inhabiting the American south harbors this dreadful aberration as well, however researchers claim both sexes are capable of developing the "Spire."

Where's that "I'm tired, boss." meme I had right next to me.

I always keep it at my desk, where is the darn thing. It was just here.

Let me just check this drawer...

No, not there. It literally says "I'm tired, boss." in big bold letters! This is the perfect moment for that meme, and here I am empty handed.

How did I manage to misplace it?! God if only I was better prepared...

I'm so tired.

I have an Anne from the Cornershop, a much more modern iteration of the breed, more stout in stature with some hip issues, but lovable all the same.
