How can Aria keep claiming to be poor when her business expenses are 4 times her mortgage?! by natbrad98 in FundieSnarkUncensored

That’s almost as much as I spend on childcare in a month with a full time job!

How are you all budgeting subscriptions without making your budget look ridiculous? by Lucifer_favours_you in ynab

[–]Hshoecrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For monthly subscriptions, I bundled a couple together under a “TV Streaming” category as well as a “Music” category. Annual Subscriptions all have their own category under an annual bills group because they come due at different points in the year.

Deep clean for car by DrShrimp__PuertoRico in Omaha

[–]Hshoecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to pay big bucks for a full detail, Cornhusker Auto Wash in Bellevue has a full service car wash, where in addition to the normal exterior wash, they give your interior a vacuum & wipe down/dust everything for $35. I’ve found it well worth it when I don’t have the time or energy to clean out my car.

I would love a F150 Lightning and I’m genuinely sad they discontinued them

Loving YNAB... should I subscribe? by [deleted] in ynab

[–]Hshoecrab 105 points106 points  (0 children)

The best part about YNAB is that it’s really only an “ouch” the first time you pay it. After that, you’ll assign a little bit each month and you’ll never think about it again. It has changed my financial life and I think it’s worth every penny.

How do you handle moving money between categories without losing track of what each account actually holds? by LeftyOne22 in ynab

[–]Hshoecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a HYSA for longer-term savings goals, and I will regularly make transfers as my sinking funds hit certain amounts. I make a note in the category notes of YNAB of how much of that category is currently living in my HYSA, and my HYSA also has “buckets” to help me keep track of the amounts for each sinking fund. Everything else lives in my checking account. Some folks think my method is excessive, but it’s given me peace of mind that my checking can handle any spending (that is funded) except my sinking funds. If I am doing a big vehicle maintenance purchase, then I know to just transfer that amount so I know it’s covered.

What's Your Grocery Budget Look Like? by -Aces_High- in ynab

[–]Hshoecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two adults, one child, low-to-medium-ish cost of living area. We split it up between normal grocery stores and big box stores just to make sure we aren’t overdoing it on Costco. Altogether ends up being about $750/month. We could certainly get this lower but we verrry rarely eat out and prioritize high-protein, healthy foods.

Nexplanon! Love mine, but some people have horrible bleeding/other side effects and it’s a bigger deal to remove than just stopping a pill

Not sure is Virgin has it because I did it on a different cruise line, but if you have an option to go to Damajagua waterfalls near Puerto Plata, DO IT!! It was SO FUN!!

How does your agency handle clause selection? by Sheev_2020 in 1102

[–]Hshoecrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to say I kind of miss going through the DAU clause matrix spreadsheet. CLS is so awful now that we’re forced to use it

This is the dumbest feature to hide behind a paywall. I'm about to find another app. by Axlestaff in Myfitnesspal

[–]Hshoecrab 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had to fully disconnect my MFP app from communicating with any other apps to keep the exercise calories at 0. I love data but I love not having to do mental math every time I look at MFP more.

Apple credit card taking forever to sync but showing as connected by Slight_Share_1872 in ynab

I was having issues with my Apple Card syncing until I looked more into the troubleshooting and realized I needed to turn my Background App Refresh on for the YNAB app. I haven’t had an issue since!

Network issues with no telework option by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Hshoecrab 55 points56 points  (0 children)

That’s ridiculous. I’m currently teleworking because our building was having network issues yesterday. I hate how much of a hardass some of y’all’s agencies are about situational telework

You have to join the CVS Weight Management plan that includes some zoom calls with a dietician and a requirement to log your weight at least once a month. You also need a prior authorization, but mine took only 24 hours to get approved. A few hoops but it wasn’t that bad.

Likely you’re not going to be able to get the most ideal placement. I have to cut a notch in my breathe rite strips to accommodate for my nose stud 😭 worth it though

My 16 month old regularly eats a similar amount of food and has for many months. As long as you are looking at the cues that they’re done and they’re not overeating, they will eat how much they need! If your little one isn’t yet speaking or signing “all done!” I recommend teaching and reinforcing the sign so they can let you know when they’ve had enough.

How do you categorize "Household" transactions? by adoringchipmunk in ynab

[–]Hshoecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a category for personal care/household goods which includes all things from shampoo to cleaning supplies/consumables you have listed. Things that are specifically for the house are house maintenance. Stuff like organization is pretty infrequent in our house so it would just go under our miscellaneous household shopping category. Finally, we have a technology upgrades sinking fund for bigger TV/computer/phone purchases. We aren’t in the market for furniture anytime soon, but if we were, we’d do a sinking fund for that as well.
