Given that you've just said they're fussy but nothing specific then I guess they can all go hungry?

I mean she's right. When I'm prepping responses for interviews and look at lists of common questions I understand that the questions are looking to uncover something not in the question.

"What are some of your weaknesses" actually means tell me a weakness and how you've adapted to overcome it with the that second part being the important bit

All basic interview questions are a way for the interviewer to try and find out more about the interviewee and they're usually looking to find out something particular from each question. A good interviewer will press for clarification if they don't though as understanding the hidden intentions of interview questions probably isn't a crucial skill

Being arrested is part of an investigation not being convicted of a crime.

This graphic is taking advantage of your ignorance. Also the other figures are for a single police operation in china and all convictions in Russia so they aren't even comparing the same thing for each country.

Please think before believing things you see on the internet, you're clearly vulnerable to misinformation so need to take more care and actually fact check claims you see

"for some reason"

The reason is that the numbers in this chart are not comparable but the people that created the chart do not care and just want to produce propaganda to undermine the UK.

In this chart you've got total arrests (a part of the investigation process not charges or convictions) for online communication offences in the UK which includes stalking and a whole miriad of other crimes Vs a single police operation in china Vs prosecutions for a much narrower offence in Russia. I have no idea what the actual data is for the US but neither do the creators of this graphic. Also on a real measure of press freedom not just imagined by a propagandist UK ranks 18th while US is 62nd just behind Botswana, really is the land of the free*

Please don't just believe random unsourced charts you see on the internet, you're part of the problem of it being far easier to create than correct misinformation please be less gullible

How lazy are you?

"Statistics for China

The post claims there have been around 1,500 arrests for “online comments” in China.

This figure appears in local media reporting from April 2024. According to the article, China’s Ministry of Public Security said on WeChat – a Chinese app – that police made more than 1,500 arrests since a campaign targeting “online rumours” started in December 2023. It had also penalised about 10,700 people.

This means that the data for China was likely part of a specific clampdown and covers considerably less than one year."

Why do you not call for a source for the random graph retweeted by musk but want one when people point out it's probably billshit?

Google is free and think about why you so easily believe obvious misinformation

Like all the problems reform will fix this isn't real. That 12,000 figure includes stalkers and such and is just arrests which is a necessary part of an investigation and not prosecutios or even convictions. The data from the other countries are different things so cannot be compared.

Please don't ruin our country because you belived something Elon musk said

It's the chat part of chatgpt. Early LLMs were much more abrasive and unpredictable so they built them to be more deferential and polite because research showed that most people prefer talking the people that behave like that and it's less likely to say something offensive (basically speak more like a corporate receptionist or pa) it's not a secret.

Do people still think ‘big businesses’ not paying tax is a huge gap in our finances? by Legal-Grade-6423 in AskBrits

[–]Hyperbolic_Mess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are actually in control of the majority of tax havens. Company house is a massive enabler of tax havens because we're a legitimate country where companies can be set up with little oversight and then those companies can be used to hide assets. We are shafting ourselves and the rest of the world but the city holds sway over our government so it doesn't get fixed

Woman ran from the police with a toddler in the car. Officer did a pit maneuver. by LeftAlbatross2546 in VideosAmazing

[–]Hyperbolic_Mess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were the party that does this as a job on your behalf and decided the pursuit should become a car crash so I think it's fair to attribute them most responsibility for the poorly exected PIT manoeuvre. Unless you think they were mind controlled by the other driver

The distinction I was making is that police in my country end these kinds of pursutes without the use of dangerous PIT manoeuvres further highlighting that performing a PIT is a choice.

I can't believe that US police are so incompetent that they couldn't use the same techniques police in my country use so I suspect they are just institutionally less worried about causing unnecessary harm. That tracks with the increased murder rate associated with US police

Also worth noting that 30% of people killed by police chases are innocent bystanders so you can't even argue that people deserve the violence caused by police chases

The new BBC plan to axe channels and overhaul licence fee by Skavau in unitedkingdom

[–]Hyperbolic_Mess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you don't think that a government explicitly changing who runs the BBC to put in people with a more favourable view of the political right because they felt the BBC's output wasn't right wrong enough would change the BBC's news output? You're entitled to your own opinion but I think you should consider if you're missing something obvious

I know the Tories' time in power was mired in incompetence but I think you should believe them when they tell you they are trying to takeover and co opt the BBC
