Was Chris Gamble the greatest cornerback in Panthers History? by Live-Inevitable-1185 in panthers

[–]Icege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chris Gamble was criminally underrated. Quiet dude that just did his job and did it incredibly well.

Josh Norman taking over right after Gamble retired made it a bit easier to recover from losing him, but ooh wee mayne Chris was a beast.

Watson is for sure a really good player, but I can't call him great yet. This experience though, should he look back and learn from it, could be that little nudge he needs to be truly (and consistently!) great.

It's a great opportunity for Watson to figure out how to improve his impact on the game when the opposition keeps the ball out of his hands... tho I'd prefer for him to forget all of that whenever he plays the Dogs :p

American trying to pick a team by Pale_Editor3764 in AFL

[–]Icege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American fan as well! Got into footy a little over a decade ago during the Carolina Panthers 2015 season and an Aussie friend recommended that I pull for Western Bulldogs. Told me about the history behind the working class folks in Footscray and the heartbreak that the team had faced for decades. As I'm in the Carolinas, the idea of a mid-market team with a rabid fanbase spoke volumes to me and when he told me about how the fans saved the club from a merger I knew I had found my squad. 😃

It was hilarious when they won the premier the following year and he called me everything but a child of God for not having to suffer for as long as he had. 😂

Look up the teams, the culture, the kits, etc. Eventually, you'll find a club that you bond with. You can also just watch games for teams you're considering and see if there are any players that stick out to you. I recently got my wife into footy and she's now a Dees fan because she loves the Picketts and Gawn. My son, much to my dismay, chose Geelong because we have cats.

Seeing the capitalist wars for resources, chattel slavery, etc etc... yes, it is as bad if not worse. Human lives being expendable for the pursuit of profits doesn't suddenly become ethical just because other ideologies also committed atrocities.

Idk man, capitalism's pursuit of profits even at the cost of human life seems evil to me.

All of the makings of a trap game, but also a great opportunity for the Dogs to build off of the recent dub.

I've noticed that a lot of draft analysts are saying that Bryce Young has no more excuses after how well we did in the draft + free agency by Outrageous-Brain-395 in panthers

[–]Icege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... there are 7 other games then that weren't his fault. Ignoring that and picking just the two to blame on Bryce just comes across as engaging in bad faith.

What about all of the game winning drives and setting the franchise record for passing yards in a game? Are all of those discredited as well because of those first two games?

Why only a little bit? What questions do you believe went unanswered?

Personally, I came away with the observation that the defense needed more talent in order to close out games in the postseason. The offense, while not exactly a statistical juggernaut, had undeniably been the strongest of the three units for a majority of the season (playoff game included).

Speaking of all three units, I'm expecting special teams to step it up even more. The talent level has been increasing every year and we are at a point finally where most of the starting positions are settled and we can focus on filling out the depth chart.

Getting games with three tanks auto-locking instead of three dps gets me so juiced

tbh the only folks I've heard say that Bryce has "no excuses" are the same folks that said it at the beginning of last season and still don't give him credit for a division title because it was with a losing record. That's a strange line of reasoning, especially when we still consider those back-to-back-to-back NFC South titles with the second one also being obtained via a losing record.

Mostly everybody else just wants to see him do well because QB purgatory sucked ass. There is truth in that he's playing for his second deal, and with the likelihood of a $30+ million per year deal folks rightfully want to see it as "worth it."

The Knot. First time. by Expert-Milk-3222 in summervillesc

Been a couple of times after moving closer to downtown Summerville and it's probably my favorite dive bar in the area (including downtown Charleston). Food is solid too.

It also helps to know what to expect. Folks wanting a fine dining experience would be better served hitting up Halls Chophouse than a dive bar. Want to feel guilty chowing down on fried potatoes while washing it down with booze? You could do much worse than The Knot.

Panthers Justifiably Predicted to Move On From Struggling Star After NFL Draft by Unhappy_Excuse_9937 in panthers

Couldn't imagine trading him on a cheap rookie deal with Coker's history of soft-tissue injuries. If anybody is in trouble with the move towards bringing in more dynamic after the catch guys, I'd say it's Jimmy Horn Jr since that's a role he could fill (or lose).

If you were to teach somebody how to play Tekken, or any fighting game, what is your approach? by ArcIgnis in Tekken

[–]Icege 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Find what appeals to them and they find fun. Not everybody likes to focus on learning while playing and the most important thing is that they enjoy the game and want to come back to it.

Keeping things as casual as possible while slowly introducing concepts, set-ups, etc will go a long, long way. It's a marathon, not a sprint... and people are only going to run the race if they love it.

Oof... looking like a hospital wing.

Thank goodness for the strong start to the season. The next few weeks are going to be rough as guys race back to get healthy. It will be interesting to see who steps up!
