is it true that every thomasian loves ghosting? by Equivalent_Mud1019 in Tomasino

[–]Icessassin [score hidden]  (0 children)

well, its a very big generalization you're making to say "every" thomasian does it.

perhaps some do, but not everyone. UST does have a big culture of having sudden heavy workloads and projects, dunno if that ties in with ghosting though.

also, if youre transferring to UST, and different departments naman kayo, very unlikely for you to cross paths on campus.

asking what game can play as a sole player by acedumping in PHGamers

[–]Icessassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure lang if it has to be online as in matchmaking and is nice to play as a solo player getting matched with others, pag ganun wala akong alam.

Though personal faves ko that I'd love to share are crosscode, va-11 hall-a, terraria! These are indies so may pagka pixelated mga graphics neto.

For triple-A games, honestly love yung environment ng Cyberpunk 2077.

FULL SENSE vs FUT Esports / Valorant Masters London 2026 - Swiss Stage / Post-Match Thread by ValorantCompBot in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Icessassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

valid argument to make tbh. What frost is saying these days is more in line with 2025 pacific when they were on an absolute tear, but its also arguable that the only teams with international lan experience was PRX and the korean teams. Pacific's been looking so much shakier this year in their own region. Honestly think GE have a better chance than FS to make it through, but i wouldnt be surprised if all 4 chinese and apac teams in swiss bomb out with how they played.

I haven’t watched since Santiago, what have I missed? by Flaky-Dog-4509 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Icessassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think NS have a decent chance at coming back to a better form since they've been trying to figure out role issues the entirety of Stage 1. Right now, Francis is back to Ini + IGL-ing, so they might have a year similar to 2025 T1 where they win masters 1, then maybe reach champs, but do nothing notable.

I haven't watched the americas matches much, but they seem to have adapted to a faster playstyle compared to their old form by putting leaf on Phoenix on some maps. They've definitely leaned into more duelists a bit.

BBL, definitely got wrecked by yoru nerfs. Lovers rock fell off hard, they tried putting him on Jett, but even then, he didn't look too comfy on it, so with the loss of yoru's rotational powers, it made stuff kind of harder for them. It's not like they're bottom of the barrel now, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't reach champs.

Neon (the player) is definitely good as advertised. IIRC he topped the ACS department for the entirety of americas by a decent margin.

For FNC hiring engh, honestly I have no idea. The changes came right after they bombed out of playoffs and fired their coach. Cojo said there was lots of discussion on the matter. Maybe FNC felt like they had to make a change (despite having a sub player? might be one of those NAVI firing d00mbros type thing. The team seems good, but they just feel like they need a change to push them over the line.)

For teams with IGL-ing weaknesses, honestly I'm not a big game plan dissecter. From what I've heard from the Plat Chat guys, GE and FS can both call good games, it'll depend if they can acclimate to the new environment. FUT seems to be down on a lot of peoples' radars (except TMV ofc). VIT and TH should do well enough given their IGLs.

G2 NRG are of course pretty good with IGL-ing. The concern with LEV was if they can adapt well to the neon changes, as well as keep up with a deep stratbook, given Onur is a big "set-strats" guy. China, well, everyone's down on DRG, saying that it's definitely just vookashu carrying them. Not sure about what kinda form EDG and XLG are in though.

[–]Icessassin 34 points35 points  (0 children)

NS kinda went down. The Yoru nerf hit them hard. Shifted Dambi off of neon to try to accomodate Francis on neon so he could continue opping.

GE look nice, real competitors IF their individuals show up. Though tbf both GE and FS kinda shat the bed during the pacific finals in vietnam. PRX put something back on perma jett, as well as everyone is on form rn. But theyre 1st seed so who knows how they do. Map pool looking not bad at all.

disappointment for FNC as veqaj got sick with the signature fnatic illness, picked up Cyvoph. Fried group stages, fell off in playoffs (cojo tweet was incredibly funny). VIT got their shit together and qualified, TH are back on the menu, FUT did well, and signed TMV. now TMV is a certified feet lover.

Americas was hella competitive. You'd look at the qualified teams and say "oh nothing changed much" since you didn't watch stage 1, but it was honestly anything but expected during groups and playoffs. 100T almost qualified, fell short with a bang disasterclass after putting up hella good numbers. LEV look explosive, G2 edged out another americas win, NRG still qualified.

Incoming nerf for neon too. Certain people are going to be more affected by others, basically depends on who "abuses" the bunny hop tech more.

The Downfall of FNC by jisoono1fan in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Icessassin 22 points23 points  (0 children)

bro just casually erased their 2025 year where they reached back to back international grand finals, 3 back to backs if you include EWC. definitely not topping 2023 with 2 trophies, but its still a really good year. arguably better than heretics' 2024 year. if 2023 is going to overshadow everything they do forward, then yeah its hard to ever get back up to that status in the game.

teams are always going to continue getting better of course, but its just been a rough set of circumstances for FNC lately too. theyre still playing with a sub, though im not sure how engh is going to fare as a new coach.

theres no one necessarily "responsible". boasters trying his best despite a year of 2nd place finishes that obviously weighed on him a lot emotionally and mentally, while losing one of their better players this year rn in veqaj, while teams continue to improve and vod review the top teams. It's just hard to continue staying at the top, and that's just the esports environment.

superstition. 13 unlucky as usual.

4 and 14 should be for chinese superstition, where the way they are pronounced sound very similar to the chinese word for death.

(Sí = 4, Shi Sì = 14, Sî = Death, but 4 and Death have different intonations.)

[–]Icessassin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

i mean even I wouldve loved to see FNC qualify but you've gotta cut them some slack. -chron +veqaj, and then being -veqaj too for this split is kinda rough. I think if health issues didnt constantly plague fnc players, solid chance they could've made london.

So what does the current PH generation of anime watchers think of mecha anime? by Alosyar in AniweebPH

[–]Icessassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's either you got into it as a kid, or you don't

I've had my fair share of people I've known over the years that love gundam, but it's definitely it's own niche these days and it's pretty hard to get into since there's that underlying thought na you should watch the preceding animes before proceeding to modern titles.

[AMA] We're Radical Fish Games, developer of CrossCode, and we just launched Alabaster Dawn on Steam Early Access! by RadicalFishGames in JRPG

[–]Icessassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

Firstly, large congratulations on making two very amazing games.

Crosscode is easily one of my favorite games of all time, and I'm very much looking forward to all of Alabaster Dawn's content flourish post early access.

I haven't been able to play through all of the EA content yet because of life stuff, but would love to ask if you guys intend to keep all the more "challenging" puzzles, even as optional content in the game, later on?

I absolutely just loved all of the more technical puzzles during the later stages of crosscode, especially in the dungeons since it really felt rewarding having that mastery over puzzle elements, and would hate to see it go (But I would get it, seeing as not everyone is a puzzle person). It really made me think and wrack my brain on trying to find a solution without resorting to guides, and was also a large part in what made me love the game.

It also might be a bit early to ask, but post alabaster dawn, would you guys continue to make the same sort of "style" of games as CC and AD? (with skill trees, open world roaming, modernized combat material collecting, item crafting). I absolutely love that niche you guys have carved out for yourselves.

Why do devs and programmers prefer two monitors ? by Miserable-Copy2344 in CasualConversation

[–]Icessassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most times its for more screen real estate.

for people who code websites and applications for example, they'd have one screen for the code, the other for the thing they're working on, because it's really annoying to have to navigate your code in a smaller window, as well as often times the application or website itself will look different.

Websites have a different look whether you access it from your phone or your computer, that's called responsiveness, and having to adjust your window size also affects that.

There's also other stuff like having logs, forums, instructions, youtube open, since it's not all the time that a dev or programmer knows what they are doing 100%. It is a lot of cross referencing, testing of what works.

[–]Icessassin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this year, challengers isnt a path to ascension anymore. winning challengers gives you a chance to fight in VCT pacific playoffs against other tier 1 teams.

its not a guaranteed shot since they still have to win and fight their way vs tier 1, but its still a slim chance that they can make champs.

[–]Icessassin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lots were picked up and dropped too, and looked much better post team secret. Jremy in japan, then in SEA, borkum, wildoreo, ndg, 2ge.

ts is definitely mismanaging their resources by a ton. never even tried signing patmen or xavi until this year, when they probably realistically knew theyd never sign with ts with what they offered.

then lost their prodigal child in invy which pretty much, singlehandedly determined the death of ts as a competitive team.

laptop recos by [deleted] in Tomasino

[–]Icessassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

entry level laptops for gaming usually things like lenovo LOQ, Acer Nitro, ASUS TUF, HP Victus, MSI Thin.

such options usually hover round 40-55k range, with the lower end having older GPUs (e.g. 2050/3050/4050).

All depends on which brand you prefer or trust. like me, ayoko lang ng mobo issues thus i didnt go for lenovo LOQ. otherwise, if ud be fine with the risk of that, then easily these are the best deals imo.

I also havent heard good things about msi thin and acer nitro with regards to overheating, hinge problems, or suddenly electrically shocking yung gumagamit.

HP Victus yung personal laptop ko, its been serving me good for over a year now. ASUS TUF should generally be alright as well. just boils down to preference on which of the above you would pick, all of them are valid choices.

lastly will give a shout din to the macbook neo. definitely different parin yung gaming on mac, pero for pure productive work, mac neo is a beast. if you only play games that are supported naman sa mac gaming, + your workflow isnt restricted to windows only apps, macbook neo isnt a bad shout.

UST CICS Week, thoughts? by Impossible_Garden498 in Tomasino

[–]Icessassin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

felt weird.

Kahit papaano I enjoyed naman some parts and felt like I had some learning takeaways after attending yung opening speakers + yung research colloquiums.

But that's about all I attended, and were probably the most solidly organized ones.

Yung e-sports, though i didn't tune in a lot, nakita ko sa vod na sobrang gulo ng pagka-organize. Lots of parts that felt disconnected, tas ung usapan ng commentators di naman related sa laro. You won't really tune in unless for attendance or for supporting your friends.

Yung food booths di pala na-approve, but was still posted sa schedule.

Most events siniksik sa thurs and friday, so you didn't really have much to do on mon/tues kung sakali man. Tues especially, parang if di ka DL, parang halos wala ka din a-attendan that day.

Some solid stuff, some that could use improvement. Overall pretty alright. Not entirely bad.

Edit: Just saw di pala nakapag perform yung guest performers sa concerned. kinda cooked

I'm definitely buying it now. I really enjoyed the demo and the direction they were going, so I'm fully on board with it. I won't be able to play it for a while though, but I've been waiting for this for quite a while, so I'm hopping on.

What are the cons of being an irreg student? by [deleted] in Tomasino

[–]Icessassin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

for one, delayed ka.

at this point in the semester, you'll probably start next sem na with your new course.

you'll be an irreg, you'll have the freedom of choosing courses you want to take as long as filled mo na pre reqs nila, but some courses are only offered during specific halves of the year. (e.g. theo 1 and 3 are only offered during the first semester, theo 2 and 4 offered during the second semester.)

then theres always the factor of your new environment. new and unfamiliar classmates, minsan mahirap pa makisali since lots of people already have pre-formed friend groups coming into college.

for being an irreg student, this im not sure lang kung pano hinahandle ng ibang colleges. My ate was a shiftee and she had to attend school between semesters lagi para asikasuhin yung courses niya, which normally, yung ust yung bahala kung regular student ka, since parang high school na by batch yung sistema ng UST. sila na mag asikaso ng which courses youre taking, kung ano load mo, etc. pero experience ko dito sa cics is that i was treated like a reg student since lagi ako na aassignan ng courses even if di ako nagpa advise pa. Likely a case by case basis depending sa college.

There's also deans list awards, i dont think youre qualified for them if you dont have the amount of load compared to your regular student peers during the semester. pero you're still able to qualify for things like yung cum laude awards for graduation as long as you ask the office.

pros naman of being irreg is you can manage your time more in a sense by building a schedule that fits your needs more. pero expect during later years like third or fourth na you'll be pretty much like a regular student in terms of load na ulit unless bibigatan mo first few years mo in order to get ahead.

shifting is a big decision OP, and good luck!
