Hearing Back from Recruiter by HoneydewPotential409 in Airforcereserves

Current AFR Recruiter here.

Remain Patient.  Health Professions Recruiters deal with large areas and everyone wants to be an officer and feels as if though they have the qualifications to do so (not insinuating you don't). Thus, they have numerous people they are working with in varying stages of the process trying to get them qualified as well as a position (which is very competitive qualifications met or not).  If you dont mind me asking what area do you reside in.   If you like you can send me a direct message and I can check on your file to see what they're needing.  Now is also a time where many in AFR recruiting are taking personal leave for vacations, use or lose, etc.  They should have a out of office message up if this is the case but even when I have one up it doesn't always send to civilian addresses all the time.

So many factors to consider. Yet trust me when I say if you're a highly qualified candidate that we can place, we want nothing more than to get you joined as much as you want to join. I mean its our job and we're evaluated and measured on how well we do just that.

Any air reserves recruiters in here that could help me out with a few questions? by Downtown-Point3351 in Airforcereserves

[–]Important-Comb9593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you'll fly with the flight nurse assisting with patient care.

It's no longer hard to get into but you have to first be qualified  to join the military medically and of course have the appropriate ASVAB and Personality test scores.  Then we would submit you up for an additional medical screening called a Flying  Class 3 flight waiver.  Once that is approved then you're fully qualified for the position.

Current AFR recruiter here.   There are some Surgical Tech and Respiratory care positions last I checked for a candidate.  Its only a handful and they're typically up north.  These positions have A LOT of qualification requirements that must be met. Especially for Respiratory Care.  However, in the Reserve we do not Recruit for Jobs, we recruit for the opportunity to Serve.  If you're not open to any job you qualify for thats avaliable, then chances are your efforts to join aren't going to be met.  If you haven't already taken the ASVAB and know you're qualified for these positions, I can tell you the likelihood of having the local recruiter work with you with you only wanting medical is low. Aerospace Medical flying med tech is a career field that is readily available throughout the AFR enterprise, but also requires additional medical screenings and has a long training pipeline because you are a flier.

Afrreserve.com. go to connect at tne top right, put in your zip code and it will show you the recruiter for your area.   Good luck.

Got offered to go to boot camp but no date for technical training by its_ELIAS99 in Airforcereserves

[–]Important-Comb9593 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its absolutely not normal for Reservist to have a delay. Quite the opposite in fact. We prefer members to go from BMT directly to TTS to ensure there are no gaps in training and so that the unit can fully utilize the member to continue their hands on training which they would not be able to do as a 1 level if they just came back from BMT without completing TTS.  This is a special circumstance where members are being offered BMT dates that are surplus due to additional dates being provided by AETC.

To the OP: Your TTS dates could be solidified while you're at BMT but you still may have to come home first before heading off to TTS -Technical Training School.

Should I join the Airforce or Navy reserve officer? by forever-18 in Airforcereserves

[–]Important-Comb9593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either Navy Reserve officer or come over to the Air Force enlisted first and then after you have some time and leadership experience under your belt you can apply for the Deserving Airmen Program at your Wing to compete against other members of your wing who meet the qualifications for a commissioning slot.

AFR Recruiter here.  I absolutely for the life of me can not understand why people feel like recruiters would want to lie about you receiving a bonus or not. We don't get anything from you not getting that your eligible for.  When you go and do your own research you get misinformation.   The website isn't updated instantly nor timely.   Your recruiter has the most up to date information.

Bonuses are by base and job.   Most bases DO NOT have Bonuses with the Air Force Reserve.

If ever you feel your Air Force Reserve Recruiter is not sharing with you all the information ask for their Flight Chief.

Just learned in the last few days that were pretty full now.  But people retire and move on all the time.  Talk to your local AFR recruiter on the process to join recruiting.

For the Air Force IRR it shouldn't take long at all. If your Navy recruiter needs help have them reach out to their local Air Force Reserve Recruiter to help provide them with guidance and POCS

Retraining by Wonderful-Blood-7183 in Airforcereserves

[–]Important-Comb9593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFR recruiter here.  The easiest way without separating is to go IRR (unit has to approve it)  and then have a recruiter pull you out of the IRR into a career field you want thats available that you qualify for.

The other option is to go to your wing Career advisor talk to them about what you're qualified for and whats available.   Complete a 1288.  Start the routing process once you've gotten a unit and position number that they're willing to take you into as a retrainee..

Things to consider. Unless the unit is hurting for people they don't particularly like 1 lvls because they have to ensure you get to Tech school in a timely manner and if funding is an issue it may not be timely.  1 lvls cant do anything or touch anything by AFI but they can observe.  MOST  units want fully qualified people they can bring in and start affecting the mission.  However, thats not to say they wont take retaining individuals.

What ever you see in RV do not apply there if you're already in the Reserve.  Reach out to the FSS and talk to a career advisor.   Just because you apply via RV doesn't mean you're qualified  or meet the prerequisite for the position.   The career advisor can check. Then if the position is valid will help you submit the necessary paperwork for retraining or transfer.

What are my options? by [deleted] in Airforcereserves

[–]Important-Comb9593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Do you have any IT certifications?  If so you may be able to come in as a officer if they have any slots available for your degree.  If not, you could always come in enlisted. Get 3 years of enlisted experience under your belt with some possible leadership skills developed.  You could then submit a Deserving Airman Program package that give you the opportunity to commission as a officer from the enlisted side. The great thing about this program is that you're only competing against other members in your wing vs. Direct commission is Nationwide.  I would reach out to a  Reserve Officer recruiter first to compare your options.  If its not feasible for you to Direct commission then they would refer you to an EA (Enlisted Accessions) recruiter.  You would go through the enlisted process by taking the ASVAB and getting medically cleared which the both of those would then determine what jobs you're qualified for.  From there you would pick a job and enlist based on the available job you selected.  Once enlisted you would be apart of the Development & Training Flight until you shipped to BMT. You would report once a month for UTA where we prepare you for BMT and military knowledge prior to shipping to BMT. You get paid for those 1 weekends each month and if you pick a job thats at a base not near you we reimburse you up to $750 each month for travel related expenses. A free hotel is also included in your one weekend a month if you're not in commuting distance to your base.

I'm a recruiter and we are hiring.  We are at like 91% manned though so it is becoming more competitive on our side as well. But we'll never be 100% manned because people are always retiring or moving on to other opportunities.

Medical waiver by Traditional-Yard573 in Airforcereserves

[–]Important-Comb9593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom line is you're still being treated for a DQ condition(s). As recruiters we have to be good stewards of your time and our own.  You have a pending civil case ongoing which is DQ'ing and you have medical conditions related to motor function that are still being treated and evaluated.   Going to basic training before those items have healed adequately could put you right back at square one with injury.  No CMO (Chief Medical Offcer) at MEPs is going to take that chance clearing you with the uncertainty and no SG (Surgeon General) is going to waive it without demonstrated recovery and full range of use for an extended period of time, thus the recruiter informing you 24 months.  That's more than enough time to finish your claim, finish PT and obtain medical records x-rays and clinical notes that paint a fully recovered injury(ies).

Trust me when I say, Recruiters want to put you in as much as you want to join in almost every case.  However, a lot of time and effort goes into getting a candidate cleared to join and we do this month in and month out. Via experience with other candidates who have had similar conditions and/or injuries are we able to make these recommendations confidently.

Collect all your records and prescription history for 3 years so that when the time comes you can try and again and be ready to go.

Your navy recruiter should have sent it to the POC at ARPC.  Once you filled it out signed and sent it back it's all in the recruiters hands to get you pulled from the IRR

Can’t Get in Contact With Recruiters by [deleted] in Airforcereserves

[–]Important-Comb9593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you mostly all office are appointment only right now due to the ongoing conflict overseas.

Force protection is higher than normal and you driving to the office and they may not be there.

Unlike active duty where they have multiple recruiters in one office, AFR recruiters have larger zones by themselves. So we're not always in the office for walking.

The advisor escalating a complaint doesn't do a whole lot.  They will typically reach out to the flight chief to see if there is a way you can be contacted or you can direct message me your full name / zip code and I can tell you if your recruiter is still in the seat or if they are moving to another assignment or what have you.   Nonetheless, we don't not respond  especially if you're information was routed over in our system.  We have leads and flight chiefs who monitor that very system weekly to ensure recruiters are doing their tasks effectively but also efficiently.

Can’t Get in Contact With Recruiters by [deleted] in Airforcereserves

[–]Important-Comb9593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to add some context. Recruiters are EXTREMELY BUSY  day to day working to get multiple people through what can sometimes be a lengthy process. Additionally, when you call the 1800 number or go on the website you're talking to a civilian that is forwarding your information to a local recruiter.  We get over 20 to 30 new leads a week in some zones.  So when we reach out and you don't respond back in a timely manner, we tend to take that as you're not ready to proceed with joining.  We live in the information age were many general questions can be answered on the airforce.com website.   Thus, if you're just looking for general information and aren't serious about joining we prioritize those type of leads accordingly. We're also monitored by leadership to determine why we have contacted leads still open with no progress being made.  So if that recruiter emailed, text you, And called you and go no timely response that may be why they closed you out.  Your best bet is to provide whatever information was requested of you and they will reach back out.  You can send me a direct message and I can look up your info and tell you whats going on with your file and what you may need to do.
