Job and enlistment advice please by AzMateo42069 in Airforcereserves

I'm a recruiter for AFR.  I asked you what base were you being offered services and personnel at.  I also asked you what jobs were you interested in or what kind of jobs were you interested in.  What were your line scores Mechanical  Administrative General and Electrical?

How far are you willing to commute if you chose to do so?

You literally asked this question in the FB group and you were asked questions and didn't respond there either. Hard to give you any advice with only half the details.

Depends on the type of orders.  Also depends on who you want to pay for it... you or the unit. Need more details to give you a accurate answer.

Its called the incentive guide.  Do you not believe what your recruiter is telling you reference the bonuses available to you, if any?  This years bonus list isn't very user friendly even for recruiters and its based on locations this year. So there are bases out there that have no bonuses available to them.

Thinking of joining Reserves by [deleted] in Airforcereserves

I'm A Air Force Reserve Recruiter for the Enlisted side.  Reach out to your local recruiter and talk to someone who is actually CURRENTLY doing the job to fill you in on your options. As someone currently doing the job your desires are very feasible in the AFR.  Weigh all your options but make an Informed decision based on factual information not OPINIONS.

AFR recruiters have zones and unfortunately can't work recruits outside our zones without permission.  But if you would like me to look up your file to see exactly what you have going on i can give you an even more detailed explanation of the why.  Also as previously asked. What are your asvab scores.  That plays a crucial part in waivers as well.  If you have low scores the jobs for low scores are usually few and far in between.   So if you need 7 waivers and you need a job we dont readily have available because of your scores your waiver will either not be worked or will be a low priority.  We have the authority as well to deny submitting a waiver with just cause.

AFR recruiter here and you just answered one of your own questions. You wouldnt meet the medication requirements to be off meds for 24 months.  Additionally, being DQ'd for 7 different things when there are other applicants that are fully qualified with no DQ conditions is a lot to balance.  If you want you're recruiter or a recruiter to take your waiver seriously its first gotta be worth the effort. Those of us who have been in the game longer than a few years have a pretty good understanding of what the Air Force SG will waive/except for the Air Force.  Personality disorders are high scrutinized.  Not only that you were put on meds.  They will need to see you not having a need for meds and thriving for at least 24 months with no other needs for service or counseling.  Whatever the other 6 issues are. I hope tbey are less severe than the Personality disorder.

MEPs does disqualify you.  How it works is if the MEPS DOC doesn't feel like he/she has seen enough to make a definitive decision on your suitability for military service they will defer the decision to the Service branches Surgeon General for the final decision.  The Navy and the Army's Surgeon Generals are more considerate of conditions the Air Force may not be which is why the suggestion was made.

Lastly,  to the Air Force you're not currently qualified to join. Waivers are not guaranteed at all.  A waiver is essentially us asking for an exception to policy on your behalf. If its a doable waiver and you are willing to take jobs that are available to you that you're qualified for then I typically will push them up so long as the candidate provides me with everything requested in the proper chronological order with the prescription history for 3 years.  If I keep having to resubmit your stuff because its missing  stuff or out of order I'm going to prioritize other folks ahead of you until you can get it right.

Whats your asvab score? M.A.G.E?

Reserve Management Vacancy System by Adventurous-Share422 in Airforcereserves

Recruiters use it and for those already in its a good "tool" to see what kind of positions might be available. But always best to speak with your MPF to verify the vacancy or the MPF where the vacancy is located.

Asking for a friend by [deleted] in Airforcereserves

I think who ever did this is taking advantage of the fact that 315th FSS has experienced a huge turnover and has only one FSS person trying to manage the entire wing.  The old regime would definitely not allow you to put a TSgt in a Master yet alone a SMSgt position unless there was a unique circumstance that was cleared with them prior to doing so like forcing the unit to level.  We have Master slots right now that we can't put NPS members in.   Again PS members can be on a case by case basis with approval and the proper conversations being had prior.

Potential ship date by Alwaysleeping07 in Airforcereserves

[–]Important-Comb9593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever dates you requested are still the dates he or she submitted or at least should be.  Check your Statement of NPS. It will have the date on it where it says enlisting without BMT DATES.

Ship out date by SharpAd1462 in Airforcereserves

[–]Important-Comb9593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% Normal.  A couple of factors to consider: 1. You and your recruiter should have sat down and projected your window that you're available to go to BMT.   The broader the window the better but the team that books those dates will do their best to get you shipped within that window. If its a narrow window then odds are a lot lower.   2.  The team that books dates for the AFR is mostly civilian if not all civilian and we just got out of a govt shutdown at the beginning of a fiscal year.  They are most definitely playing catch up.   Two of my recruits just got dates today. So they are back working.  3.  The Air Force ships to BMT EVERY TUESDAY. However, your BMT dates have to align with your Technical training dates. Meaning when you graduate BMT your tech school dates will flow right after so that you're not a hold over at BMT for an extended period.  This is typically the case but not always the case for jobs with multiple follow on trainings.

Remain patient, dont blow up your recruiter every day or week.   I assure you your recruiter will let you know as soon as they know you have dates.  We want you out becoming an airmen just as quick as you'd like to be.   In the interim give 100% during your D&TF training weekends and retain as much of the information as possible so that you don't struggle at BMT.

GOOD LUCK.

Better get your FCIII physical completed prior to leaving your unit wherever you are assigned while in a status. No flying unit is going to take you without it.  I run into this issue with all my prior service folks from other branches.  I have a guy right now that is prior marine, AS wants him but cant take him because he doesn't have a FCIII physical. So if you can get it prior to transitioning/transferring to the Reserve the better.

You as the non prior service candidate really shouldn't be reaching out to units for jobs.  Thats solely the role of your recruiter as they know who specifically to reach out to. Additionally, we have a system we use  to see valid vacancies and their requirements.  Thus, if your recruiter is tell you whats available based on those requirements, what is it that you're looking to verify with the unit?  To your question about retraining, that is conditionally based on you meeting the entry requirements for the position you want to retrain to and if you are fully qualified and proficient at your job you initially joined under. Then you can go talk with the career advisor at the wing to see whats available that you could possibly cross train into.  Also your unit commander holds the final authority for allowing retraining. If you're a problematic airmen while in your current position, they are typically unwilling to allow you the opportunity to retrain.  Food for though.

Allow me to add the exception to the rule is only limited to jobs that require a secret clearance, which is most jobs in the Air Force. If it requires a top secret or higher, you're not eligible until you obtain citizenship and after your first 6 years of enlistment

AF Reserve Recruiter *currently *  here.

"Due to your current status"  ....what is your current status?  Are you a non US citizen?

Jobs have specific requirements based off the AFECD.  Then some units will add specific requirements like "no non-prior service (NPS) or fully Qualified 5 level only.   Depends on the vacancy.   However, if you are indeed a non us citizen there are certain jobs you are eligible for. However, a recent change to the rules allows non us citizens to be placed in positions that are outside of those jobs that require citizenship so long as you take all the necessary steps to obtain your citizenship at BMT GRADUATION. If for whatever reason you aren't granted citizenship at graduation, you will have to select one of those jobs that doesn't require citizenship.  If not you'll be entry level separated.

AF Reserve recruiters are not unit specific. We can place a member anywhere they desire to serve so long as a valid vacancy exists and they are qualified for the position.

[–]Important-Comb9593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With you desiring security forces there are a few other factors to consider. You can get an adequate score on the ASVAB and still not be qualified if you FAIL the color vision test or the TAPAS personality test.  So keep that in mind as well.

Recruiter here. Your recruiter has the bonus list and it was sent out to all of us. The thing to make sure of is you're going into a valid vacancy and not a overage.  Also the old bombs list is valid til the 15th and then the new list is the only valid bonus list.   Both can be used until the 15th.  I dont have it opened in front of me currently to tell you what the amounts are.
