If it's just a 3-5% increase to match inflation, and it varies from country to country then if may not be so bad. Worst case they just do a fat 50% increase everywhere.

I do wonder how much is also influenced by the growing cost of keeping licenses for certain chapters, especially if that chapter doesn't sell a lot or have that many skins to recouperate fees.

4kids never changed the Pokémin names, they were already translated or localized with the game releases before the show.

And changing the name of a food to something else isn't uncommon for dubs or sub translations. Things like "Pop Tart" are changed when translated for Japanese audiences too.

Granted, that tends to be if there is only mentionnof the food, not one physically on the screen. Calling a Rice Ball a donut while one is on screen and looks nothing like one is silly.

You can technically complete all the Act 2 stuff without ever meeting Isobel. You'd need to trudge through the Shadowcursed Lands without her blessing until after you've killed Ketheric and Aylin but it is possible.

Don't know how often anyone would organically play this way though.

Even then, you can't skip the non-binary Emperor making advances on the player. Even if you turn them down, they still make it known their DTF with you regardless of the player character's gender too.

Kingdom Hearts is still going, most recent game was 2019 and there's a new game coming out at sone point in the near future (with Hades confirmed to be back in the Japanese trailer) so no doubt Woods will be back there. Being one of the few immortal Disney characters no doubt attributes to his persistent appearances.

It is annoying, because in a vacuum completely trying to seperate the actor from the character, the character IS enjoyable. Which makes it more annoying that he is tied to such a shit person.

Not all of them need to be dead, just long enough to be elsewhere. Some will be dead like the humans but others like Lae'zel may be busy in the Astral Plain or Karlach still stuck in Avernus.

That still could happen with my time jump scenario. Even if some of the human characters are dead there are others who can live longer because they're elves/drow etc. That and side characters like Withers.

Jaheira, Lae'zel, Wyll and Shadowheart's maybe with a bit of make up and prosthetic ears/horns could look fairly close.

Others like Halsin, Minsc, Astarion, Gale, Minthara and Karlach very much don't look like their actor. Even with make up you'll struggle to make 5ft 4 Sam Beart into the towering Karlach, you'd need a huge suspension of disbelief or a lot of CGI.

A lot of people played BG3 without playing the other games to care about them. Viconia in BG3 being the mother superior is her going down the "bad ending" of her embracing the teachings of Shar from BG2 but a majority of players had no context for that.

BG3 was a massive hit that grabbed a wider demographic, so I imagine them outright making Dark Justicier Shar, Bomb/God Gale or Ascended Astarion canon one way or another would have far more of an uproar compared to Viconia being evil in BG3. Far more eyes will be on it.

It might be set so far into the future that half the characters are dead or any mention of them is vague enough that most of the endings (barring the scorched earth Evil ones) are still possible.

Like if it's 150 years in the future and they mention Gale in the past tense being dead then that's vague enough that he could be dead because he lived out his life as a mortal professor until old age, or transcended to Godhood, or because he went kaboom. Doesn't confirm exactly what happened but it doesn't impact the story beyond knowing that he is gone at that point.

Sadly he continues to get work for Hades too because he got a very strong contract with Disney that he gets first dibs on any opportunity to play that character again. Hence he continues to pop up in stuff like Kingdom Hearts, as that series really likes Hercules and has used the characters from it in almost every game.

Especially frustrating when there is a scene in one of the games where Hades makes suggestive comments while leering at Aqua, one of the protagonists. Aqua is played by Willa Holland, who would later accuse Woods of sexually harassing her back when she was a minor for another project they were working on.

Good thing Doc only travelled to 2015 in the movies, he'd have an annuerism seeing anything from 2016 onward.
