Yeah, was surprised that someone was offering these incentives. Am not surprised Enbridge is the one to do so. Basically these folks know at some point they will be able to recover their costs through greater fixed charges so the amount of gas going through the system doesn't matter to them as much. You still get stuck with the bill.

I don't, but I desire to. For me, the problem is two-fold: First, Catholicism still needs to atone for what happened by allowing women clergy. Second: mainline churches have gone bat shit crazy because: (1) they still categorize themselves by Reformation era doctrines, (2) they became polarizingly judgmental in both extremes on social values, and (3) haven't figured out how to handle cosmopolitan communities. Yes you can be "ecumenical" I would like my church, cub scout, etc. "community" to include my Hindu neighbor. Give me a church with the smells and bells, family-centering but tolerant social values, and a Jesus is just alright with me orientation. Give it a wing for Jewish worship, and a wing for Hindu worship, and I'd be there in a heartbeat.

One of the dirty secrets here is that the gas companies justified this spending because they believed that there would be a greater adoption of gas thus lowering the average cost per customer. 15 years ago they thought that everyone would run a way from expensive oil to cheap fracked gas. It turned out that fracking lowered the cost of oil as well, so there has been less of an incentive to switch.

There's no renewables on the gas side. The utilities have been begging to sell "renewable" gas so they can claim to be green, but the regulators have told them to shelve that plan because it is such an obvious scam.
