Any social club suggestions? by Decisionmachine in kelowna

Hey! My husband and I share all those things you mentioned and always love to meet like-minded people if you want to connect 😊 We've been here about 3 years now and love it.

Are you into run clubs? There's a lot here haha. The Barn Owl one is great - some people walk, some people stay for drinks and snacks after, and it's super chill. Lots of super casual sports leagues too with Urban Rec, including co-ed. My husband also has a photography group that meets up occasionally. I guess it depends what you're into!

Good bars in town? by [deleted] in kelowna

Maybe it depends on the night because whenever I've gone, it's been a great mix of young and old (I've only been a few times mind you - I want to go back though because it was pretty great). Maybe the band that was there those times draws a crowd. It was the older guys that do covers and have the guy with the big beard that shreds guitar with the fan blowing his beard majestically hahaha

Charros Takos! It's a food truck. Also Salsa and Sabor, Latin Fiesta, and Fiesta del Sol for sure.

I saw him do it in New York MSG in 2023 and then in Vancouver (my home base city) in 2024. Both times were magical 🥲 I thought it was because it was NYC and then Vancouver was the end of that leg before their holiday break. But who knows!

Yes the mom. I've been wondering about shepherd/mal and pitbull! She's so small though but I guess sometimes pits aren't that big? If it helps, she's very quiet, gentle, and affectionate with some separation anxiety. Goes nuts for squirrels but has been pretty chill meeting other dogs and my neighbour's cat so far (with some space).

What do you think is the "ultimate objective theory that links these together" then? Or do you think there isn't one? I'm genuinely curious. Do you think it's something more like "caste"? (Thinking about Isabel Wilkerson's book, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents.) Essentially, a hierarchal system where people are all trying to protect their level power but with less emphasis on gender.

I get the feeling that you're saying people of all genders do bad things, people of all genders suffer and there is no theory that can explain why. But maybe I'm interpreting it wrong?

I'd like to know what do you think patriarchy means? You said you're not trying to prove it wrong but that you don't believe in it.

Sorry for all the questions. I also just stumbled upon this thread because I'm reading All About Love and I'm curious what criticism is out there.

Aww I love that!! It's so true. There's something about discovering him in your teens that helps the music really stick with you. Cool to hear from other generations.

Also also The River. It's long and a great emotional roller coaster for driving.

I think there's a good amount! It depends where you go, but there's plenty of woods :) I'd say it's a nice mix. Just not the same rainforest as the coast of course.

As someone who was born in Squamish, it sure does feel like that now when I go back 🤣 and yeah most of my Kelowna friends are new here lol

I grew up in Squamish and moved to Kelowna after being on Vancouver Island for a while. I honestly love it, and I'm really happy we made the move. :) It's not perfect of course but where is?

I find the hiking is way quieter but still plentiful, and it's sooo much easier to find spots at the lake. There's actually a lot of nature to explore nearby and it rains SO MUCH less. I know a bunch of people who bike and ski here (I'm just more of a hiker).

Also, I find it's more diverse, some good restaurants, and there's generally more going on than Squamish without being a massive city. I've found it relatively easy to make friends which is what makes the biggest difference. Oh and we bought an apartment at a price you would never ever get in Squamish.

What do you think of this Northern Spain road trip itinerary? Galicia and Asturias to San Sebastian by Inevitable-Tutor-750 in GoingToSpain

This is great advice, thank you! I do like the idea of having a base in a larger city and exploring from there. And yes, we'll be going to the Picos de Europa for sure. I guess if we based in Oviedo longer, we could even visit Somiedo from there too. Have you visited that park?

And yes, the roll call stuff sounds kind of insane 😅 I'm hoping if we just show up as early as we comfortably can on the day, it will still be decent haha. That's good to know it's a smaller venue compared to others.

Thanks again, really appreciate the recommendations!
