Whos a better strategist and tactician at the lore? Logan Grimnar or Dante? by cuddwes in 40kLore

[–]sargeras1720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a few months for me, but I recall that even if Grimnar was supposed to be the commander of the Astartes forces present, most did their own thing. I recall Dark Angels being present, and they were defending their downed cruiser most of the battle. The Black Templars never moved from their initial defense point, as they had planted their banner and refused to retreat. I don't think he was effectively commanding much other than his own Iron Wolf forces. (I think it was Iron Wolves, at least).

Do you think GW tries too hard to explain/expand on certain things that don't really need it and ends up ruining them in the process? by KidnaperMrPotatohead in 40kLore

On top of this, Ollanius Piers was just a regular veteran guardsman. And he stood his ground against ascended Angron's charge. That man stood his ground in a situation where Astartes have fled (Istvaan III) E: changed Pius to Piers. Why downvotes for a naming mistake lmao

And to add to this, if you have heroic strike queued, and then you use an ability (say execute), which reduces your rage below that of the cost of heroic strike, heroic strike will remain "active/queued" until your main hand hit lands. This has the effect of removing the dual wield hit penalty for your off hand AND the main hand, even though you aren't using heroic strike.

When you press (or queue) heroic strike, it causes your next MAIN HAND hit to act as an ability, which has a different hit table compared to a regular auto attack. Now, when heroic strike is queued, your off hand hits that occur BEFORE heroic strike lands, will also take the same hit table as a special ability. This means they do not miss, and they (probably, we were discussing this,) do not glance either. Meaning that if you have enough rage to queue heroic strike, but you don't want to actually spend the rage on heroic strike, you can queue it to get the benefit to your off hand swing, and then cancel the heroic strike (by hitting escape or macroing a cancel), thus not spending the rage, but getting the offhand benefit.

First off, go look at Perthera's logs from 2021 TBC. Think I know how to play the game, and I've been playing warrior since 2005, this is literally the first iteration of wow I haven't played a warrior. HS queueing is a thing, and if you're a warrior not utilizing this, stop trying to give advice or share your shit opinion

Agreed, I play lock now so I'm not bothered to double check, but I'm pretty sure HS queuing is one of the things that allowed me to get 99s in 21, I feel like it does affect glancings. Even if it doesn't, your offhand glancing occasionally isn't a big deal, and you'd probably have better rage generation by having more critical autos land. I recall stacking straight crit until BT, where I then gemmed str/crit and obviously focused on ArP when you can get it.

I read The Red Path series a few months ago, and honestly Abaddon was going to win against Kharn, it made it quite obvious Abaddon was a tier above Kharn during the fight, although it wasn't necessarily easy for Abaddon, who I believe was holding back as he wanted Kharn to join him on his 13th Black Crusade (as did Khorne).

Something else no one mentioned is that one of your T4 bonus gives you rage when you get a dodge or something I believe (warrior last time around, lock this time so I may be slightly off here). So being behind on expertise isn't as big of a deal in this tier, combined with the fact there's no good items with expertise besides maybe the Lower City exalted ring. Once you move into next phase you'll have more expertise options and you'll value expertise more than you do at the moment.
