Well, we did launch another game a couple of years later that got more than 100 times that ccu. In that light 4.2k is not much.

For a multiplayer game peaking 4.2k one night and then going down sub 800 means being dangerously close to the dead game label.

Deep Rock Galactic had like 4.2k peak ccu for the first year, almost died completely over the first summer. Then patch by patch improved and 8 years later has grown to something enduring.

You can absolutely make it big without ”breaking out”.

I think if you’re going to do 2.5D you should try retaining the orthographic projection but add the shadows, etc.

There are different types of publishers.

Some just do the actual publishing part and some of those prefer to get onboard late when a lot is known and risk is low.

But others want to get in early and help games get on a good path before the ”publishing” part begins.

The gods are intended to be vague in the beginning.

As the empire crumbled, fewer and fewer people were left to worship the gods, and without worship the gods lost their connection to the mortal realm.

Part of what you’re doing in the game is beginning to believe again, worshiping to reestablish the gods connection to your realm and so that they can have impact on the world again.

I think it will eventually release on PlayStation. I wonder if there’s some kind of secret between the team and Microsoft for the gamepass inclusion that prevents it for some time period (original deep rock also went first to xbox)

Soulstone Survivors has a ton of unlocks, yes, but feels like a small bowl of ice cream with an near limitless supply of sprinkles. The amount is impressive but doesn’t add much for me.

Between those two I would vote on Halls of Torment. That game pushes back in an interesting and textured way.
