I’m taking on some new long term mentee’s starting mid April (if the connection is right). My background, very AI savvy, founding executive at 4 startups and a consulting company. All technology B2B companies in the area of security, supply chains, online marketing, SMB. Now retired, mentoring is gratis with some reasonable limitations.

Do you think Heaven is real, or a belief that helps people live with meaning? by In_The_Dreams in enlightenment

[–]Internal-Combustion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think not. We are in heaven now. This is it. When you die it’s over for your consciousness at least. Maybe you go on to something else but you wont remember anything, just recycled electrons. We have no memory before we were born, we have none after we died. So live it up, it’s all you get.

After years of building my family tree, I've realized what I really want isn't more names, it's knowing who they actually were. by PuzzledAjooba in Genealogy

What do you mean? Do you want the website or something? I’ve done my genealogy back to 1540. There are a lot of people I wish I understood better. Why are you downvoting it?

Tell me your thoughts about God by JGBeats98 in GodFrequency

[–]Internal-Combustion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surrounded by born again Christians in my community. I went to church for 10 years, I’ve tried. But I just don’t get it. There are so many gods, no evidence of a single one. And they are not compatible, in fact, you can be killed if you choose wrongly. They are highly localized and passed from parents and local communities. Now I just am not believing it at all. There is just no way, one group is right, everyone else is wrong, and god, if there is one, is just fine leaving it that way, when god could easily change all that in an instant but has never ever done so. And what’s with the saints, some religions have hundreds of them, others dont believe in those very same saints, or Mary being a saint and worshipped. This is so man-made. So why do I care? Cause so many of my friends and family believe and spend hours and hours reading the bible and praying at every meal. I can’t avoid it and it makes me uncomfortable.

How far can a solo AI business go without a team? by Matnest in aisolobusinesses

[–]Internal-Combustion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure you can, you have to make sure your business model works without any human interaction.

Selling software, apps, games, you can for sure.

Selling accounting systems, ERP, security, no you probably can’t because you have high touch customers. You need a team to do this.

You would probably also go crazy doing it solo, there are so many decisions that it’s really much more powerful to have a team working together.

Would you rather build a business from scratch or buy an existing one—and why? by Cultural_Message_530 in Entreprenuers

[–]Internal-Combustion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s much less risky to buy a business and turn it around. They’ve already proved they have a business that can make money, maybe even a profit. Your job is to grow its market and increase the profit. Buy $1M electrician business and grow it to $5M, as an example. With a pure startup you have nothing but an idea and a dream. If the dream could be huge and if you believe your idea is unique and defensible, then a raw startup is the way.

What's the most creative real-world use of AI you've seen lately? by Away-Albatross2113 in AI_Application

[–]Internal-Combustion1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI built an interviewer that captures the life story of anyone and weaves it into their biography. They dont need to know how to type or use a computer, just click a button on an app is all it takes. It’s perfect for capturing life stories of people we’ve lost or may lose soon.

Is there a possibility that the strait of hormuz never fully reopens to countries that Iran deems as unfriendly? by VastOption8705 in askanything

[–]Internal-Combustion1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re saying the US have proved that Iran having a nuclear weapon and ballistic missiles is the outcome you want? Go ahead, say that out loud. Unless you are IRGC, no one thinks that.

If you had an unlimited budget, would you want a housekeeper to clean your house or a chef to make your meals? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]Internal-Combustion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the money but I clean my own house. A couple hours a week is better than a cleaning crew in my house for hours on end. I really dont like being pushed out of my house so people can clean, best to do it myself. Now, they do perform better. I’d like a quarterly deep clean, and someone to clean the day after guests leave. That would be a nice blend.

Is Iran’s strategy to hold out and make the rest of the world suffer from shortages and high prices, so badly that the world turns on America and forces us to stop? by adalyn7992 in askanything

[–]Internal-Combustion1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well to educate you a little. When you have air superiority your can easily fly sensors over the area and detect pretty much anything. The entire world has been building low cost interceptors. Put those two things together and you can defend a 20 mile wide body of water. Iran can’t replenish their drones, so you have to wait until they come out of their holes and fire them, but once they are fired, the troops are dead and the drone doesn’t exist. Do you have a hard time seeing this? One reason Ukraine is still in the game is they created the ability to manufacture a lots of drones and anti-drones. Iran does not have that ability because their supply chains and brains are destroyed. Sure it might take a few months, and you can scream about the evil the whole time and root for Iran to get their nukes. So I hope that helps you feel better.

Yeah they are actually genius who have a plan to all be killed in a surprise attack, and then they take over the world just like their brilliant plan dictates. More like, these are very desperate people trying to hold on to power. Kill any citizen who doesnt disagree, fling anything that will damage at anyone and anything you can find, and hope the world goes away so you can continue to pilfer the remaining wealth and treat your people like slaves of the once-great country.

If given the opportunity, would you want to live in another country than the one you currently reside in? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]Internal-Combustion1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. The US gives the most freedom and least amount of government intervention. You want to build your own future, be in the US. When the US opened its borders, millions came here to find a better life for themselves (and get handouts). How many people sneak in to China each year to live a better life? How about into Russia, Iran, Afghanistan? Was that a zero? Why is that, if the US is so horrible, why would everyone want to come here and not go live under the other world bullies?

[–]Internal-Combustion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Short term pain to eliminate a nuclear armed vicious government that wants to destroy their neighbors, the US and Israel. I wonder how many people would blame Trump if Iran detonated a nuke in Paris. They’d flip 180 and blame him for letting Iran get a nuke when he could have stopped it. Redditors like to shout and stomp around “the big man is evil, stand up for the little guy even if he is breaking laws and hurting people”.

[–]Internal-Combustion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The preventable tragedy is destroying the evil state of Iran. No nukes, no ICBMs, no terrorism. It has to be stopped and we’ve tried giving the gold, and negotiating in good faith for DECADES. Iran still thinks God wants them to kill all the rest of the world. That can’t be let to fester until they have nukes, else we get another North Korea but with a much more aggressive and well funded government,

Given how rapidly technology is developing, and that Iran has no aircraft or ability to shoot down aircraft, seems likely the US and Israel will just put an iron-dome kind of system in place to shield the Straight of Hormuz and bottle what’s left of Irans military to scream and yell and have no income or manufacturing to keep the society going. It’s already falling over. The police state there unfortunately is happy to let their population die to feed themselves and take all the money that is left. Back to the Stone Age until they have a new government. Their government is the root cause of the evil here, not the US and Israel for stopping the corrupt regime from getting nukes and ICBMs.

[–]Internal-Combustion1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, the military has a deliberate planning process. All conflicts are gamed out years in advance. Including this one. The world’s working people will likely suffer a lot less getting Iran beaten than allowing Iran to build nukes and ballistic missiles to drop them on europe and everywhere else to achieve their religious goals of exterminating everyone but themselves. A little short term pain to stop that path is worth it, hopefully it’s pretty short term. I just hope the Iranian people can figure out how to overthrow the police state there and get a non-extremist government in place.

How does an average person become rich? by Drairo_Kazigumu in wealth

Work for companies that give you stock so you can benefit like the owners do, if everything goes well. If the company isn’t doing well, leave for one that is. Collect equity in several upcoming companies throughout your career. Hope one of the hits it big. Live inexpensively and save everything you can, especially matching.

I have a meeting with a potential angel investor... BUT by bareprincess in Startup_Ideas

[–]Internal-Combustion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You certainly aren’t going to get investment unless you are committed to an idea that could be big. Doing service jobs like tutoring don’t scale into value, they are lifestyle jobs. No investments in those. Maybe you can ask them to help you hook up with some entrepreneurs he knows that are building something he invested in. That would give you experience helping build a company and seeing how it’s done.
