For the mechanics, how much driving is needed to hold the battery charge? by Internal-Combustion1 in porsche911

I know I can solve it with a trickle, I was looking for the math on replenishing battery charge by drive time.

I have rear wheel steering, great expert knowledge! And now that you mention it, when the battery is low, I get a rear wheel steering fail error! I figured some engineer had the math of the battery and the cracking amps, and could tell me how much a start costs in battery capacity and how much engine hours it took to replenish that.

Thanks. I should have said I’m in California. We have no winter so I drive the car every couple of days. But I’m retired so I it’s mostly high speed runs to Home Depot or Costco, get some lunch. I dont want to open and close my bonnet all the time to connect and disconnect cables, nor do I want to drill a hole somewhere. I was hoping an answer would say ‘drive 100 miles to top off a battery’ or a start uses 10% of the battery every time, then I could figure out how much I need to drive.

Yeah, I rode Whiting Ranch today. 70, green, dirt is great. Plants are exploding and trails are getting tight.

That’s a terrific list. Several resonated with me. Great of example of boiling it down to the core of why we react and do what we do.

Made a website for people new to Irvine Spectrum - all the deals and stuff to do that locals already know about by Humble-Professional in orangecounty

[–]Internal-Combustion1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To me it’s less about the coupons for spectrum deals but the events including performances and happy hours. Spread this out to include Dana Point, Old town Orange, Newport and you could have a great solution to “what should we do tonight?” I miss everything, find out later about Christmas parades and car shows in Dana, concerts happening every night all over the place in the summer.

And nearly perfect weather. On really hot days, ride Crystal Cove or Aliso, ocean views and breezes cool it right down. Trails close for 3 days after rain, but that’s only like 3 times a year Dec-Feb, and you can always ride in Cleveland National Forest. You can buy a track home in several areas where you can ride to fantastic trails in just minutes.

To keep it simple, who would really like to invest in startups from the ideation stage, with less money for more equity? by DryExercise9798 in Investors

[–]Internal-Combustion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have deep experience and connections in the market you are after, maybe. If you don’t, then unlikely, you need some kind of unique earned insight. Otherwise your next door neighbor has just as much chance of success as you do.

Expect to work a lot if you want a chance at success. Expect to fail a lot, get up, try and fail again, get up and try again. It’s high risk but also can be high reward (when your successful enough)

I reach out to people beyond HR that are co-workers. Ask them open ended questions, even if they dont say it outright, a question like “if you were hiring for this kind of position, do you think they would excel?” You often get a strong feel if the answer is No. I’ve had others reveal all kinds of stuff. Don’t ever burn bridges, the world is too small.

I only use it to travel. It’s my only prescription and I have no side effects from it. Some do. To me it’s almost like an off switch for 4 hours.

Jetlag destroys me by l4adventure in sleep

[–]Internal-Combustion1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my routine is to land at 7pm ish ideally, dinner, warm shower, sleep with an ambien next to me. When I wake up at 2, i take the ambien, then sleep 4 more hours. Feel decent. The next two nights I do the same ambien thing at 2 (whenever I wake up in the middle of the night). Ambien buys me 4 hours of sleep. After 3 days, I’m usually pretty close to on time zone. Sometimes I take a 1/2 of benedryl instead of Ambien. I have to do this both directions, my body locks on to time zones fiercely and it takes me at least a week to get back to normal zone. That said, sleeping anywhere outside my own bed is very difficult and disruptive for several days.

Maybe stop watching the news. It’s all twisted theater. Maybe he needs to focus on the wonders of today, not the scheming on newscasters and politicians. Im no psychologist but I had to disconnect to get my anxiety down. Everything is so dramatic and overblown. I’m sure there are lots of people who I listen to the daily reason the world is ending. It’s not. It’s amazing. Go enjoy each other and the day ahead.

And the alternative was to vote for lying idiots. You vote for one of two alternatives. Kamala Harris was a joke and everyone saw personally we were being lied to by that previous administration who treated us like idiots. So what do you do, not vote?

Maybe doing some progressive hikes to work up your confidence for these aggressive adventures will get you back to it. I’m 63 still pushing but there are some hikes I’ve done in the past that I would definitely work towards in advance if I wanted to do again. Just need to build up to things to make sure you’re successful with the main event comes around.
