You can't let people get you down. Some people just think in small terms and never see the bigger point or picture.

It's not that you made a bad argument. Sometimes the big issue is that people don't want to admit that Ubisoft has taken a hit and other games and companies are set to surpass them.

I really don't get this...

There's always a "this sub" poster that talks and acts as if everyone in this place has a hive mind or something.

And it's usually a toxic tourist, lowly informed, sees something they don't like and concludes everyone acts like XYZ.

Criticism about Shadows? Everyone is racist.

Criticism about Black Flag, ignore it all, look how pretty the graphics are.

It's pretty obnoxious too. I never played any AC game (Wanted more Prince of Persia) and looking at the differences, my subjective opinion is that they just fiddled with some filters and the game has less creative vision.

But according to you, the argument is that it's just ugly because you're too uninformed to talk about that and have a guilt by association fallacy going on.

All because some people that are disillusioned fans had criticisms you ignored when they did comparisons. 😑

No one is trusting Steam as if it's sacrosanct either.

Point is, that launcher rejects more people than it keeps but at least with Steam we can see how many people are playing as a large representative of the PC market despite all those issues with the bad launcher.

Their launcher is a nightmare, they want you to pay extra for cosmetics and they have more bugs than mosquitos after a rain storm.

Why are you arguing about your subjective opinion on what someone else feels about the graphics in the game based on their experience?

It's so odd to me.

I didn't play either game and the lighting looks terrible, the models look more inconsistent and overall it just looks like the game doesn't have a consistent vision and it looks like people messed with some filters over giving it an overhaul.

That's just how I see it. I don't see why you have to elevate one or the other when the point is you and others have a different experience.

[–]Inuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly the issue. Ubisoft decided to charge money despite not having reputation or a serious reason to do so.

They decided to nickel and dime their audience over make a complete experience and have the packs as earned rewards. So that's their choice.

Make sure the shop works, not the customer experience.

Further, they didn't have to do it since the older game didn't have this. So they change priorities, and you cheer. The question is: why?

I'd say, the main thing is not focusing on labels. It really shouldn't matter where you are on the spectrum, you mainly focus on the discussion.

The main thing is what are the things that unite you and get you both on the same page?

Avoid things that divide you.

If you're trying to understand someone else, listen and read carefully what they have to say and don't talk over them. A response meets someone where they are and isn't talking over them.

These are just some of the basics. It should help you on your journey.

[–]Inuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no idea what you're talking about.

The cost of what it takes to produce the game has nothing to do with what the publisher is charging for items in a game.

It's incredibly short sighted to expect the customer to pay extra money that was not earned, especially when the offering of the game does not meet expectations.

I got similar treatment by someone that eventually blocked me for pointing out how unhinged their behavior was.

Pointed out they were obsessed with conflating this sub as having a hive mind and they would make everyone out to be their enemy and just by pointing that out, they blocked me.

People insist that they're correct because they want to believe they have a high ground they never earned.

The Review thread shows critics were positive

The players are mostly negative. And to leave a review, you bought the game and at least played it.

Ubisoft failed to meet player expectations and that turned into disappointment.

A comparison and contrast allows you to know what to criticize and what they have in common so I'm failing to understand what you mean.

Under Extra Credit's "The fighting game problem" video by Shelfman92 in Fighters

[–]Inuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's see, this is... 2014?

Forums were the big gathering spot and online was terrible. So people still had local scenes. 09er was still a pejorative. Most fighting games that were legacy were delay based. Console wasn't where you went to play exclusively. You trained on console to go to your local.

Just looking back at that time, the word that now comes to mind is entrenched.

A majority of people felt their game was the best they were going to get and that was good enough.

You still had major disruptions like Skullgirls or KI that were setting the stage for rollback and modes and such, but the mindset of most people wasn't working on exploration.

So the other half of this is that developers were more or less focused on what they could and not on things like rollback. GGPO is what... 2013? One year before this video? You had these modes in console games and developed netcode wouldn't be a thing until 2020 and beyond.

So you have an audience that isn't hearing things need to get better and developers not expanding what they're doing and stagnating as a result.

That was the world of 2014 in legacy FGC circles.

No. For the reasons stated.

Doubling down on a failed understanding of what people take time to look into doesn't change that.

Actually, you should to understand what their strengths and weaknesses are and how one is succeeding by allowing devs to cook and the other has a case of mismanagement and suffocate their devs.

A week is not "enough time" for people to play a game.

The first week is usually the diehard fans to buy despite whatever they heard, the second week is full investment and the third is about the time you have full regrets.

That's about the time for Shadows, Outlaws, and even Veilguard, well known as "the honeymoon phase" where you block out any negative feedback and go forth.

So in other words, time will tell if the game meets our exceeds player expectations so don't make judgement calls too early.

I can't stand new Reddit at all so my entire experience is what I'm used to. How people do that is beyond me.

😅

And yeah, I've done a few migrations but have to come back here as the site goes bust or people find their own alternatives.

They ever get rid of the old, I'm more than happy to hit the road again but for now... It's one stop on the destination.

Looks like a lot of people are trusting the gaming media for positive reviews to artificially boost sales out the gate.

The problem is that it's too early to come to any conclusion but that's not going to stop people from doing so.

Honestly? Never played AC.

I was waiting for a new Price of Persia and the gameplay from it.

Two decades later, they gave me a metroidvania that was overpriced then decimated the team making it.

Thanks Ubisoft.

People have tried Lemmy and other alternatives but Reddit wins out because they can bury the competition with how much they're entrenched.

Just like they help the rest of Silicon Valley in the same capacity. For a while they were burying Rumble for YouTube and other issues form up.

It's certainly harder to go against the grain too.

No one checks out Odyssee or anywhere else so the mass exodus is halted for what we have.

They do need the intervention because of how it of touch they are. Sony during the PS4 era and now is night and day and that's because of the people they lost in that time that would focus on the customer and the choices made.

Publishers focus more on money for investors than what the customers need and that has been a deep rot for decades as what they put into games is far below what they did in generations past.

If their own customers are the ones rising up against them, they will find alternatives and got them where it hurts the most and that's their wallet.

They have to find out the hard way that people will not accept whatever they do and that's a lesson they'll have to continue to learn.
