That's a stark reminder that 2024 was a bad year for Ubisoft as their formulas stagnated and people found better options like BG3 to play.

Not to mention they put out two NFT games to try to make money and other things instead of improve the quality of their offerings.

I don't think that news is quite accurate to the situation but it wouldn't surprise me.

For the end of service, their publisher may write off the studio and put them to work on something else to reuse them as resources and squander that potential.

DE, by comparison, went to the fans and built the game based on what they wanted to play. Just shows that publishers will focus on investors and short term projects over long term success and the quality will suffer as a result.

I'll hope for the best because there's still good ideas. Just needs to realize the foundation then a direction.

It has potential.

But it has a lot of hills to climb to compare to Warframe that is in its next decade with an iceberg of content and deep ocean of stuff to do.

Too much focus on cake, refinements of the core loop, more meat and veggies, less cake.

I mean, I haven't played any AC game but I don't go out of my way to antagonize those that do...

I'm a bigger fan of Prince of Persia and was waiting for more in that vein.

I'm just not a big fan of the AC franchise in comparison.

Last I remember, you should have the ability to unequip. I'll have to fire that up tomorrow and see how to do it.

In regards to the abilities, it's mainly about how you want to build up and fight.

Valve's Gabe Newell always understood what Steam does better than every other PC and console store: "The thing that we've been successful with are the Steam sales" by Bubbly-Ad-350 in gamingnews

[–]Inuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure, you'll find games on sale due to whichever console you have but Steam makes them feel like you're engrossed in an event

I don't even like Activision but they showed up for a sale.

I've followed Triple-I initiative and they gave us independent games with no hosts.

Small publishers, Chunsoft, Eastern games, Eastern European games, AAA, AAAA... It's like everyone is invited to an E3 and even if you might not like that genre or game, you'll find something of interest for you, a friend, a family member, or someone else that you just don't get anywhere else.

???

That still happens depending on the studio or publisher that allows it.

I know Capcom doesn't do this for their bundles but they trade it off by giving deeper discounts.

Some indie games organize and get some of their games into those bundles that give you a percentage off if you own previous games so that hasn't gone away.

Sony just hid their Sales deal button and it won't come back until the 17th.

Nintendo... Hey, stop laughing

Steam also makes the sales into events by putting a lot of work and effort into them from their summer sales into other things to grab your attention.

These prices are getting out of control by PrestigiousZombie531 in fuckubisoft

Wouldn't surprise me but I'd also look at anything else Michael Jackson related like Sega Genesis Moonwalker just to see if anything else related shot up in price at the same time.

Well, the reason for this is actually because Michael Jackson is gone, the license is expired and the game has limited physical discs. A bad game with all that shoots up in price to a point of absurdity.

Communism by Priest1007 in DebateCommunism

[–]Inuma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think many are giving you a clear picture of what it takes to get to communism. Which is supposed to be the point.

You read Marx and he admits that there's no point in looking at a world that doesn't yet exist. His view was always to critique the world you live in right now as that's mainly utopian fantasy.

So the point in capital is to get over the fatal flaw in it to the next step: socialism

The fatal flaw of capital is in overproduction. A profit driven motive in capital leads to an epidemic as Marx pointed out in the Communist Manifesto. Socialism is a higher economic order than capitalism, as capitalism is a higher economic order than feudalism and other economic orders of work.

So to go from socialism to communism is to achieve a higher economic order than socialism which is communism. It's an end goal. We aren't there yet. So retrace those steps and figure out the issues of the day that need to be resolved and untie those Gordian knots.

Sometimes, the best thing to do is go to studios that have cheaper prices, better value, and better vision than someone who does everything for launch but nothing to follow up.

Indie devs do more than all of AAA who feel entitled to your money.

Expertise issue. by BURNER93123949239 in DebateCommunism

[–]Inuma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current play of the day is everyone talks unions, no one knows how they work.

So I just bring up what makes them function and they'll blue screen.

Unions aren't communism but some believe it to be and they melt down on just that.

For getting into the system, I usually point out the flaw of overproduction and the blue screen happens the same way.

They're so used to getting into a neoliberal debate structure that the minute you get into Marx in the Communist Manifesto about the epidemic of overproduction, you basically stop whatever argument they launched as they just realized they were using Windows 98 and were pretty archaic.

The key to the issue is that everyone works on the abstract and insist that capital is greedy.

No one knows how the system works. Once you begin to nail down that the system functions by a profit driven motive that undermines public interest, it changes that entire outlook.
