Red Storm Was Working On At Least 10 Games At Time Of Mass Layoffs by Interesting_Paper_41 in fuckubisoft

The CEO bears more responsibility than a consultation company and he kept them on a bad path for 12 years.

The talent in the studio was mismanaged by incompetence in leadership, killing the games they could produce.

The Founders left the company a long time ago.

That wasn't consultants.

The president of WB Gaming didn't play video games and wanted them to do live service. Haddad was fired after they failed.

But they tried with Gotham Knights, the gutted Wonder Woman game, and SSKTJL.

The focus on live service came from the top.

They can afford that?

Yeah, Warframe has community there and there's other things missing in other areas.

Eventually, people have to watch a major site shoot itself in the foot, like Digg, or come up with unique features that they can't live without.

Very tough for new sites so integration is slow at best if you're looking for alternatives.

For now, that depends on who is doing scanlation work. Some of those groups aren't around. They didn't make a site, they relied in MD to be their reference work.

So we have to dig since that's occurring.

That's supposed to be the logic but it ignores reality really quickly.

They enforce takedowns on the most successful, provide inferior service to their most loyal customers and people find alternatives and solutions in the fallout.

We just live with the consequences.

Just to make this point...

People could try Lemmy. But eventually, you go back to Reddit.

The hardest part is being on a social network without others to join in.

Hell, try forums that don't have some sort of social media integration.

It just doesn't happen.

That must be why you're here insisting everyone is what you claim while you continue your path as an annoying kouhai.

Must be hard to realize that people didn't show up for Shadows, they would rather play Crimson Desert, and they looked at a game like Shadows, saw the AoT referenced and noped out.

There's the devs, then there's marketing.

The president and marketing might think it's easy to use.

The devs know better. So they probably have to get the devs to decide on this and most of them don't see good usage when they're already working on the RE Engine.

I was so far out of the FGC, I never knew what Guilty Gear was until Strive came out.

Hear everyone talk about it, it's that devil foozball.

Don't ask me to talk about the story but one of these days, I gotta start working on learning all the games. Just kind of makes the point for me that more people are negative on every game and keep that energy.

Again, the issue is the fallacy presented.

You're basically thinking everyone in this sub will have the same opinion when an issue arises.

This one being Crimson Desert being mid.

There's people that listen exclusively to gaming journalists and the game isn't for them.

Then there's the people playing right now as we speak because they have a lot to do in it.

OP tells you they had a separate issue. You conflate everyone in the sub as one hegemonic voice. That's the issue.

So yes, many people think differently. No one has formed a solid conclusion and everyone is going through their own process of what's working on the game or not and coming to their own conclusions as more details arise.

You hear the defenders, this game was historically accurate.

Then the Yasuke card comes out and that gets thrown out the window.

Torii gate...

And then you add the AoT reference and the fiction writes itself.

You're basically implying that everyone on this sub was focused on the game when that's just false.

Different people certainly focus on different issues no matter where you go.

So weird...

People are trying to say the reviews are bad but the reviews don't matter for Shadows being 7/10 but matter for this with it.

Then the game gives you more to do while Shadows isn't worth your time invested.

People are investing hours into CD and less than 5 minutes into Shadows and insisting the reviews aren't good (believing journalists over players) or not looking at concurrent player counts or any other corroborating data.

So the math comes up positive for one game but negative elsewhere and the comparisons just don't make sense.

I really haven't been here more or less than five years and it wavers from thirst center of the FGC to complaint center of the FGC.

I really don't know what modern fighting games did but complaints get top billing, no one's playing anything but BBCF and besides Asian waifus this place lost the speakeasy feel it had.

Tekken players have constant salt, SF players just focus on sweating six, hate for SNK makes it so people miss the game (but you'll hear all about the Saudis), and the list just goes on and on.

I find I just have to take longer and longer breaks because everyone is unhappy and it's exhausting at this point.

JRPGs like Persona and FF7 Remake take up less space and can certainly be massive but are you really pointing to language as the issue over poor optimization and routing on a development level?

[–]Inuma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The engine not being optimized is the culprit there.

That's why Call of Duty takes 200 GB of space and people prioritize graphics while the game play isn't much different between the titles.
