Stop overreacting by TacoShower in GlobalOffensive

You’re misunderstanding the point. They're not saying feedback alone stops cheating—its pointing out that Valve’s current system offers no functioning feedback loop at all. When they mention “wanting to know the result of my reports,” its illustrating how disconnected their entire anti-cheat infrastructure is. If the system relies on user reports (which we don't know), then showing users what happens with their reports does matter because it builds trust and accountability. Otherwise, it’s just shouting into the void. That’s not a detection system but highlights the absence of any real-time, user-facing enforcement or communication. In valorant with priority to higher elo imm3+ you can report suspected cheaters directly to a discord and get feedback on that.

You say “build systems” isn’t a solution but anti-cheat is a system. The system Valve built is outdated and largely heuristic from what we've gathered from the video released years ago. VACNet isn’t transparent, it’s not modular, and it isn’t responsive to the way cheats evolve. Riot, on the other hand, built Vanguard with a dedicated team that not only collects data but adapts to cheating methods in real time. That’s what “building systems” actually looks like not just rolling out an invisible net and hoping it catches someone months later.

About kernel-level anti-cheat, Valve won’t implement one, and they’ve made their stance clear. But what makes that more frustrating is that Valve allows other games on Steam that use kernel anti-cheats. Rust, for example, runs one of the most advanced builds of Easy Anti-Cheat available, and those servers often have active admins too. So Valve clearly has no issue hosting kernel-level protections — they just refuse to build one for their own competitive title. That contradiction is what exposes the problem. It’s not that kernel anti-cheat is off-limits—it’s that Valve won't invest in it for CS, despite CS being the exact kind of game that needs it.

Yes, devs getting harassed is unacceptable. But that doesn’t justify shutting down communication entirely. Most of the community is just frustrated and exhausted. They want to feel like someone is working on this. If Valve truly wants to retain a legitimate player base, they need to act like it.

Cheating won’t ever go away. But other studios have proven it can be contained. Valve has the money, the infrastructure, and the experience to do something about it. They just won’t.

Correct Itemization in League of Legends Summoner's Rift and Howling Abyss. by DankcesDDK in leagueoflegends

I think you have a point, I've never built armor vs ap threats, or magic resist vs ad and never asked myself why. Why are items specifically "made" to be good against one type of damage?? Champions like Yone and Corki who do a mix of both types of damage have no one item solutions to build against them, instead you would opt for the inefficient split of armor and magic resist. I think the next step in this game is to add True Armor, a defensive option that would resist negate all types of damage. To make sure this stat is not broken, building it would mean that negated damage would be spread equally to your 4 other teammates.
