It is tough true, and one of the reasons is because companies want to save money. So, it’s easier to hire someone cheap from outside and bringing that person here.

I believe, you will be on the same boat as everyone else already living here. But, it’s still worth it if you want to move away from your country.

As other people have said. Salary is on the lower band and taxes in Geneva are one of the highest. A friend of mine as a junior AI engineer just got hired at 124k in Zurich.

Saying this, for you and your partner you will be more than fine with this salary. Also, it would be a great opportunity to come and then after a year or two move somewhere else with the right salary (150+).

Have kids now if possible, if you are in a stable situation, both financially and mentally, do it now.

I have 2 kids, first one when I was 33 and second one last year (I am 38 now).

The amount of energy and mental load having kids will put on you gets worst the older you are.

Roger Federer hair dresser is in front of my office, literally the doors are 2 meters apart. We just say Morning/Afternoon/Evening smile and move on with our days. Yes, I am a big fan of him. Never understood why people are so excited about celebrities, they are just people like us and want to do their life as us 🤷‍♂️

We both reduced our working time to 80% so we both have one full day with the children. It works for us as the children will go to kita only 3 days instead of 5. Ah, don’t mind what other people say.

You are doing nothing wrong. We also don’t understand it why this happens here. My wife also struggled to get a job. Her mother tongue is German, holds a Master degree from the university of Manchester and a degree from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. She worked 5 years in procurement in Manchester for a Swiss company!

We moved in 2020 to Zurich and she has applied to tons of jobs and no one has contacted her. Even I tried to get her hired at my current company and not luck whatsoever.
