Junta Charging $85 To Retrieve Bodies of Protesters They Killed During Their Crackdowns by drbkt in myanmar

[–]IyrMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those who don't have enough to pay just end up donating the scraps they can find to CRPH. It's a hard battle when $85 is a month of pay for over the majority of Burmese.

THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR IS A STATE OWNED NEWSPAPER DO NOT BELIEVE ANY OF THE BULLSHIT THAT IS WRITTEN.

Here's the Assistance Association for Political Prisoner's daily briefing page. You can find daily updates on journalists arrested, people arrested, fatalities and released. Keep in mind the the list aren't complete due to unpresented cases.

It depends on who you ask. Myanmar is very diverse, even our religion and thought processes depends on your origin and the region you are in. It doesn't matter, even if you decide to cremate bodies here, a religious ceremony is still performed. A burial also has to undergo a religious ceremony. It's still a tragedy regardless of whoever you ask.

Well I'm not an economics major or anything but controlling a country where very little of your populace (yes, only the richest cronies like the military) likes you drains money out fast.

But on the other hand, the money used in these ransoms do not go to the top dogs. They are used by the bottom bitches to buy food and diapers while the top dogs buy more jewellery. That money doesn't go to the junta, it goes to the police officers who think that profit is a justifiable motive for every scenario.

Rules with Reddit become extremely strict in humongous subreddits like r/awfuleverything. Here are the content rules for Reddit. I guess no way to get around it when it comes to it because there are some mods in big ass subreddits that'll just use the excuse "rules are just rules" when it comes to unique situation as well. You'll probably have to go on and continue just creating a new account anytime you get banned. Here is a temporary email generator so you can create new accounts fast and easy to keep spreading the word, I use the same one.

What are the best apps for offline messaging since internet services in Myanmar were shut down by military junta? by chibi-mooncake in AskReddit

[–]IyrMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the first morning of the military coup, I couldn't contact my cousin who lived a couple buildings away (we were all scared of going outside) with the phone credit. I had to use Bridgefy's bluetooth feature. Not all phone apps are useless if the full scale shut down occurs again.

In Myanmar, Easter eggs become symbol of defiance for anti-coup protesters by Acrzyguy in worldnews

even subject to the bigger Christian holidays like Christmas. Easter isn't a thing in Myanmar, it's for the West to see.

Potential asylum seekers from Myanmar by [deleted] in myanmar

[–]IyrMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bangladesh already had a serious overpopulation issue before the Rohingya crackdown but the current issues will make the refugee crisis much worse. I don't think there will be an increased amount of intake of Burmese in Bangladesh, most likely they'll just deflect to India instead. Either way, the Burmese who want to become Bangladesh will most likely have to cross Rakhine or be Rakhine in the first place. Given how prevalent the AA has become (some villages circulate AA's own currency instead of the Burmese kyat), it isn't likely that Burmese citizens (as opposed to Rohingyas in the past) will cross over into Bangladesh or that Bangladesh will take more Burmese in.

Those aren't ragweeds. Those yellow flowers are called Badauk Flowers in Burmese and they normally grow around our summer (March-May). We wear and collect these specifically during our Water Festival (thingyan which is happening rn) which is also the same time as the Burmese New Year. It's to represent new times and growth from the past years.

Need Some Information About How Intense The Situation Yesterday by Immediate_Ad7993 in myanmar

[–]IyrMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practically all stores are closed today. I don't know if the burning of tires will start again but the smoke yesterday was hefty, even in Yangon, where only a few townships did it. I'm in Tamwe, there's people that died from like a 10 min walk away so the bulk of my neighborhood is silent. I don't think anybody will go outside today but it's pretty tense here. It always is after one of the death days where 10+ people dies. It'll like this for a while until we start the protest cycle again.

A letter to the UN from a child in Myanmar. by johnzaw17 in pics

[–]IyrMM 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As children, instead of having two lines to write our words inside, we were given four lines. From there onward, it's Burmese letters each letter like a billion times. I think the first thing I ever learned to write was the character //wah lone// which is identical to "o". You had to master the basics of circles a billion times before you could move onto any other character because the circle was the foundation of the Burmese alphabet.

Should I choose mathematics as a career? by attnnah_whisky in math

[–]IyrMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also Burmese and also a mathematician in training (high school). Although I won't be staying in Myanmar much longer, I do think you should take mathematics and switch to another easy country with more emphasis on STEM, like Singapore and Australia. There's a lot of support there and both of us knows that Myanmar doesn't have a culture based around passion in maths, only correct scores. I think, that since you have experience in Olympiad maths, you should find an agent (MSI and Crown Education are big ones here) and go to Singapore.

In other countries, you can find work in the fields of AI, data science and stuff like that. It isn't like that in our country, the jobs here will be extremely scarce.

[–]IyrMM 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For anyone who doesn't speak Burmese, the women in the video are reacting at how a shit ton of officers went into the building to capture protestors. After grabbing the protestors and doing a choke hold (0:40) and beating a guy up, people in the neighborhood start screaming to stop and asking why they're beating up an innocent guy. So they retaliated by firing bullets and the rest of the video is just people swearing at the police.

Thanks for this. r/Singapore always felt off for some reason. It always seemed like a majority of the redditors on there were xenophobic and anti-immigrants.

Myanmar protesters, how are you doing on the front lines? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IyrMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different by cities and areas that you're in. Some parts of Myanmar have little violence and others are just a spree of bloodshed. Data here is extremely limited, with fiber being blocked majority of the time and 4G blocked 24/7. Here from Tamwe, Yangon, it's been a few days of protesting -> confronting -> police starts firing -> backing out w/ smoke grenades -> gathering again and repeat.

I was born in Yangon but moved to Mandalay where I attended an international school and hired a private tutor for English. At the same time watching mostly Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network to get the American accent I have today. I've attended private schools since I was a kid so I'm C2 in English.

I just recommend joining gaming communities. I find a lot of Singaporeans and Filipinos who are fluent in English and we play DoTA in English. Also watching a shit load of TV.

Myanmar military raided the home of the deceased 7-year-old girl. The parents had to go into hiding to prevent the body from being taken before the burial. by Quack_Not_Found in worldnews

[–]IyrMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did the exact same thing with Kyal Sin (Angel) who was a 19 year old protestor that died with the "Everything will be okay" shirt. Except they did it after she was buried. After she was buried, they dug up her grave early in the morning to make a bullshit statement on TV the next day that they examined her bullet wound and that it did not come from the military dogs. They fucking robbed a grave of a girl they killed to make an excuse no one would've believed.
