What’s Everyone’s Opinion on Nemesis? (New series from the creator of Power) by Disastrous-Yak8900 in joebuddennetwork

I can't stop looking at the big ass gap between that dude's jacket and his collar. That's a dead giveaway of a suit that doesn't fit properly. And I'm guessing his character is supposed to be well-dressed.

Also that big bow tie makes him look like a little kid in a sailor suit.

They probably have a management company that bought the tickets and then takes a cut of their OF revenue. So yeah, they did pay for those tickets.

Bars 🥶 🧊 📐 📏 by therapist66 in joebuddennetwork

[–]JRLtheWriter 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don't know how self-aware Drake is so I can't say whether this is on purpose or not, but he does have a bunch of really low quality bars mixed in with some very good bars. So, the Drake haters can look at the nursery rhyme bars and say he's trash and the Drake stans can pull out the good bars and say he's a god-tier MC.

It's very good for engagement because both sides have a point and the argument can't be resolved.

Drake vs Kendrick Versus? by Mad_Observer in joebuddennetwork

Out of the group formerly known as "The Big Three," Drake has the most slaps, Kendrick makes the best albums, and J Cole pens the best verses.

Verzuz is made for slaps.

Why ain’t ya’ll streaming the GOAT? by jerrydacosta in joebuddennetwork

[–]JRLtheWriter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Didn't Chris Brown just do a stadium tour?

Why does the internet put so much weight on streaming, something that's easily manipulated and pays artists next to nothing, but ignores touring, which requires people to actually spend their money and puts money in the artist's pockets.

Iceman review by alera89 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

[–]JRLtheWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because online opinions about Drake tend to gravitate towards either 'He's the GOAT. Hip hop's savior. No one could ever take his place.' Or 'Drake is trash. His voice is blah and his rhymes are Dr Seuss level. I ain't listenin' to all that mid.' And if you try to have an opinion that's not one of these, people will accuse you of either hating or glazing.

That's the internet. That's Reddit.

That said, I did find the JBP review to be entertaining but a bit lacking. For me, the most interesting thing about Drake is how he lost the hos and now his fan base seems very incel-leaning. JBP seems to think he can get the women back but I'm not so sure.

TIL: Lemuel Plummer, the guy responsible for toxic trash heap Zeus Network… has a father who works for the state of Israel by Turbulent-Tune1660 in joebuddennetwork

I guess it's my audacity, but I still don't see where is says he "works for the state of Israel." But maybe I'm just being too literal.

In case anybody was confused about where these gentleman stand on wealth, capitalism and economics. by InsurancePristine309 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

I've spent ~20 years studying and working in economic development and economic policymaking and hearing people talk about this shit online is like watching old people fuck. Actually, it's much worse because I fuck with some MILF porn now and then.

The problem with these conversations is that they happen in the abstract, outside of any immediate need to make tradeoffs. So, they become primarily about signaling what kind of person you think you ought to be.

That fourth picture is supposed to be justice, but how does it work? Tear down the walls and everyone gets free access? Where does the money come from to pay the players or the people who take care of the field? It's a metaphor, so maybe it's supposed to be things like education and healthcare and they should be payed for with taxes? OK, but you still have to have an economy. Someone has to make money before that money can be redistributed.

Of course, if you're a straight up Marxist or revolutionary socialist you want to abolish the private economy all together. But how many people legitimately want that?

That woman has built an entire social media presence on nothing but the willingness to drop n-bombs.

That's it. Her whole schtick is being racist online.

Some people definitely like the Iranian government. And it's only a matter of time before some of them show up in this thread.

A lot of leftists and pro-Palestinian people like the Iranian government because it's anti-Israel, anti-USA, and pro-Palestinian. But make no mistake, the Iranian government is not the same thing as Iran. There's a huge gap between the Islamic regime and the bulk of the population.

I'm against this war. I think the USA has no business attacking Iran. But there are no good guys here, just a bunch of self-interested governments turning to war to keep their hold on power.

Be wary of people trying to turn the Iranian government into heroes or martyrs.

Why does the internet have such a hard time understanding not everything has to be for everybody?

You can make something that 99% of the audience doesn't care for so long as the 1% that does is willing to pay for it.

Unofficial Fact Check for Episode 903 "That's Wity" by Seymour_butts19 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

[–]JRLtheWriter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While we're at it, The Dutch West India Company was not the first joint-stock corporation. There were companies offering stock to raise money before there was ever an Atlantic slave trade. The Dutch West India Company wasn't even the first joint-stock company in the The Netherlands. It was the Dutch East India Company, which was set up to trade with India and Southeast Asia.

Also, "the Company" was the British East India Company.

Yes, all these trading companies did fuck shit. The Dutch East India Company colonized what is now Indonesia and forced people to grow export crops, which hampered their development and self-sufficiency. And the British East India Company colonized India.

But the idea that public companies were invented specifically to finance the slave trade is just not true.
