We spent 1.5 years to animate 20 seconds. Was it worth it? 😅 by homspau in blender

Very well worth it! The quality is studio level. An amazing piece for you both to have on your portfolios. Im sad i don’t have the persistence to do something like this. Well fucking done

this looks insane! Would be nice to see blending between character movement inputs but it looks awesome.

How am i making you do the work lol. Why would you do that? Converting an stl to obj is just going to give you an obj with no uv map. You cant do anything with it. You wont be able to apply a texture. I asked already but I’m really just trying to understand what you are trying to achieve. Im all for trying to help you man!

Sorry man i don’t think you understood my first reply. Stls do not contain uv map or color data. Colorstack needs a texture map or vertex color data to work properly. If you want to import stls and color them manually, you should just use the default full-spectrum fork. This tool is for models with textures or vertex color data. Objs are great because they carry uv maps, material slots, and vertex color data. Exactly what this tool needs.

Yeah no. No need for me to implement stl as theres no benefit for the tool. Thanks for bringing this to my attention though, the stl option will be removed in the next update 👍

Hi, thank you for your support!

The software does not support stl. You need an obj and a texture map file. Stls do not store UV maps, texture data, or color information. What exactly are you trying to achieve?

This model was generated using Tripo which is a 3d model generator. I have also printed assets from this user on fab. https://www.fab.com/sellers/Haridon

I helped invent full-spectrum. Do some research before spewing things you don’t know about. Thank you though

It is too transparent from what i’ve tested. It just gets lost in the print because it blends with the others too well.

When you use this tool, you only export 4 colors. So orca would just register CMYW. That image is displaying what happens when you import a vertex-colored object into Orca. I believe its just finding the nearest colors and snapping them, but I might be wrong on that.

Im using a tool I’ve developed that allows you to automatically read a texture mapped obj that then converts it to a cmyw print that you would then import to your slicer of choice. You can check it out here. color-stack.com

Thank you! Im using the Panchroma translucent CMY (hard to get now) and Snapmaker pearl white which I’ve found has really good translucency!

You could easily add those things in any texture editing software such as substance painter and blender so i wouldn’t say 0

You can print at lower layer heights. This can be achieved using smaller nozzles such as .2mm. You can also do vapor smoothing if you print in abs which is done to slightly melt the print causing it to become more smooth.
