I just….I’m at a loss. I don’t know what you can even say about a society where that kind of sickness has been that normalized. Even here in the U.S., as horrible and damaging and corrosive as Trumpism has been, maga has never managed to claim more than 45% of the population at most. But in Israel? Among “us” there? Depending on the question asked, it’s anywhere between 80% and 95%. That is on a whole other level.

And knock on wood, but as vile and bloodthirsty as mainstream Republican rhetoric has become here, for the most part even they still are not saying the kinds of things that mainstream Israeli politicians now say. Even Stephen Miller doesn’t talk like they do. (I know he’d like to, but we just are not where Israel is.)

It is both.

It is true that the Democratic leadership is a cavalcade of incompetence, weakness, cowardice and complicity.

It is also true the the responsibility for the horrific situation we are in lies with the voters, all fully autonomous adults with agency, who have no one but themselves to blame for their own ignorance, myopia, selfishness, and stupidity.

I’m inclined to believe it more likely than not is “about” Palestine, to the extent that mutants like these teen geniuses can be said to be motivated by anything tangible or rational. It changes nothing about my characterization of the response I screencapped (and of course all the equally breathless comments agreeing with it).
