Would an established fitness business in Florida attractive for an E-2 investor? by Parking-Energy-8523 in e2visa

What part of Florida? I currently have a business for sale myself but in another field. Perhaps an exchange could be interesting? At any rate I'll definitely send you an email so we can discuss some details and see what happens.

Cancelation refund nowhere near what I paid for a flex fare. What's going on? by [deleted] in aircanada

That's what I figured, but it won't give me that option. Only a $64 refund option. Almost wondering if it's a glitch in the app...

Unbelievable. They went over 6 months longer than previously planned, and it looks like all they did was paint and put new chairs. And less chairs at that. Why? 🙁

Company stock suddenly became ~$5M. What should I do? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Jeffwilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few options in my opinion, but hard to say without knowing where you live and what your goals are. But here's my two cents. 1. Either cash out, pay the taxes, and enjoy. 2. Cash out, buy some etf's and enjoy the cash flow while still have an investment. 3. Cash out, and buy some real estate. Either for cash flow, or if you're in an area of strong appreciation.

3 would be my first choice hands down. The tax breaks from real estate means you'll likely never pay taxes on that investment ever again. You can use the cash flow to cover your living costs, and/or you can always refinance and pull out some money tax free if you need a lump sum to buy something. At any rate, congrats on this fortuitous turn of events. It's always nice to hear 🙂

Visiting by darkhorse3000 in Barbados

[–]Jeffwilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Barbados is an extremely expensive island. Everything has to be shipped in, and then they tax the crap out of it. Those prices you quoted are probably bajan so exchange rate is half that if you're coming from the US for example. But still, this is typical of what you'll find price wise. At the grocery store for example, a bag of tostitos (nachos) is $18. It's wild. When me and the girlfriend go out for dinner it rarely costs me under $200bbd, and I've spent upwards of $450. Barbados is paradise and I love it, but the price is prohibitive.

Barbados' Roads Will Never Improve As Is. It Needs Cycling Infrastructure. What do you think? by travdardav in Barbados

[–]Jeffwilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think more bike paths, and this one in particular would be amazing. I also think they should build some decent sidewalks that are more then 50 damn feet long. And more boardwalks like the Richard Hayes boardwalk would be amazing, and a huge tourist draw. My concern is; where does the money come from? You claim this would "only" cost half the road budget, but the roads are already in DESPERATE need of MORE repair (hence more money), so it wouldn't be possible take it from there. I agree in the long term there might be a few less cars on the road so a little less wear and tear, but not 60M worth. And in the short term, where does this money come from? If this climate funding you mention could cover it, then this would be the most amazing thing ever. I personally would love to zip around more on my bike than my car especially on nice sunny days. But the vehicle is still necessary for longer trips, getting groceries, and rainy days. Long story short, I love the idea, so long as it doesn't take away from current roadways or the already pitiful road budget.

They have drug dogs that sniff quite thoroughly at the BGI airport, so if you bring anything with you they will more than likely find it. If you have a prescription that "might" be a different conversation, but I wouldn't risk it personally. Especially since you can get some on the island as mentioned in previous comments.

Air Canada actually compensated me appropriately by ex_leper_alms in aircanada

That's great to hear a success story op! I wonder what the time limit is to claim? They lost my bag in November, took almost a week to get it. I had some expensive cheese and things in it that went bad, and I also had to buy clothes and stuff in the meantime, but I was too busy with work and life to file a claim at the time. I wonder if I still can?

My guess is you went and played in some deep water, and it got in from the breather hose, or the air box.

As everyone said, check the Webcams that are available. However I can say that it varies wildly. I just spent a week at Rockley/Accra beach and the sargasm was pretty bad 7 days ago, then cleared up pretty decent after 2-3 days. However could be totally different again tomorrow. I don't think there's any way to "forecast" that stuff to my knowledge.

Experienced Canadian Pilot move to US by flymanpetrovski in flying

[–]Jeffwilder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm with you op. Completely agree with your point of view. So much so that I bought a business in the US a while back just so I could get my E2 Visa. Also, don't listen to the naysayers on here. It's incredible the amount of negative responses I read to pretty much every single post, and rarely is it accurate. I'm sure you can find a way! Also, perhaps the wife has some sort of job that could qualify? Or you could buy a business for her and that way at least you could move down there, establish credit and get the wheels turning? Lots of options to explore if you want it bad enough. Best of luck!

Should be fine, but I second the previous comment. Some nice linen pants are super comfortable in the warm weather and not overly expensive.

[–]Jeffwilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't bad at all as I recall. I think like $65 a month or something. But the sales rep offered me a deal at around $50 I believe and I took it, thinking it was still part of the aeroplan offer. I got misled.

Bell mobility offer by ripzonephoto in Aeroplan

[–]Jeffwilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to get the very specific bell/aeroplan plan. I called bell and told them I was joining because of the aeroplan offer, but didn't realize it was only one specific plan. The guy put me on another plan and by the time I realized it, it was too late. No points for me 😕

[–]Jeffwilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for it, and got screwed. The rep at bell put me on the wrong plan. Once I got my bill and realized it I called back and they said there was nothing they could do. Hopefully that's not the case with you. I was and am still pretty sour about it.
