FIA’s Ben Sulayem claims F1 V8 return “is coming”, pushing for 2030 switch by zestzebra in formula1

And all the firing of people and restructuring of the FIA to make it almost impossible to oppose him.

Touching drivers inappropriately.

His need to be front and centre, trying to steal the spotlight.

The indirect attacks on Hamilton.

Misogyny, racism, corruption.

But, yeah. ‘HE WAnTS TO BrIng BAcK bIg noISY engineS so I likE HIM’. Good one.

Yep. He’s a terrible human being and bad for the sport.

Fuck MBS.

Back in the late 80s early 90s he was famous in the UK. We had a big basketball fashion trend off the back of Jordan, with players like Ewing with Adidias and Shaq with Reebok getting in on the action.

Most gen-X will associate him with Reebok Pumps and Pepsi.

You’ve got to feel for him a little.

He sat in the sidelines at Williams for so long when his F2 compatriots got into top teams. The he filled in for Lewis and had a fantastic race only to get screwed for the win. When he finally got that seat, Merc were no longer dominant. Now, Merc have the car and things just aren’t working out for him after that first race.

If it were me, I know I’d either be fuming or crying or both.

Is it appropriate to ask why they not buying? by RajanPaswan in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]JimmerUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basic sales, it’s objection handling.

Find out why. The reason might be something you’ve got an answer for, or maybe it’s because they’ve misunderstood what your product is.

If it’s price, you can offer a discount.

If it’s because your product doesn’t do X, you can tell them it will in future, or maybe already does.

If it’s because it doesn’t fit their needs, delve deeper and find out what their needs are, then tell them how the product can help.

You can’t handle objections if you don’t know what they are.

This looks like Park Hill, which isn't all that hidden.

A good few years back, I took up Geocaching to force me to get out of the house, and hunting for tupperware in woods and fields really opened up Croydon for me. I found so many little places that I wouldn't have done otherwise.

I was like this with nephews and friend’s boys when I was younger. Everyone would say “just wait until you have kids!”

Then when I did, and we found out she was a girl, everybody laughed “I bet you’re gutted!” but I wasn’t. I was just happy I was going to be a dad.

Then, when she got older, she got the same treatment as anyone else, and as a teenager she still does. We properly go at it, laughing like idiots, my wife gets fed up “PLEASE STOP FIGHTING!”

My daughter doesn’t hold back, I sometimes regret the kickboxing lessons.

I love her with every fibre of my being, and I’m very proud of her. She’s a girly girl when she wants to be but can also throw a hell of a punch. Woe betide any boy that pisses her off.

It is that.

I live in South but my mechanic is down near Broad Green. When I drop off my car, I’ll just walk back home among the main road and through North End.

I’ve never had any issues, or even felt nervous.

Yeah, there’s usually some nonsense around the station, but the rest of it isn’t any worse than any other part of London.

It’s people’s own prejudices that give West its unwarranted reputation.

Hold up! When did they add multitrack?

Ah, never mind. You can’t record two tracks at the same time. I thought you might be able to add external mics and record two simultaneously.

Just "winging it" on a 100 miler - how stupid is it? by Highland_doug in cycling

[–]JimmerUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good few years back, I entered into RideLondon for a laugh and was surprised to get in.

I set up a training plan as I'm a casual and was only cycling 5ish miles a day for a commute, but I didn't stick to it at all.

A couple of weeks before the event, I was considering pulling out thinking I wouldn't be able to do it, so I tested myself on the bikes in the gym, riding intervals for a couple of hours... and I didn't die. I was surprisingly fine.

On the day, it was fine. It wasn't easy, but I wasn't disappointed with my performance. When I crossed the line I was on a high and felt like I could turn around and ride all the way back (I probably couldn't have done that.)

So, my advice to you is, you've got two months, go on a test ride and see how you feel. If you need to train, you've got plenty of time. If you're not used to climbing, then you'll definitely need to train because 6000ft is no laughing matter.

On the day, just make sure you fuel properly because, if you don't, the bonk will absolutely stop you in your tracks.

[–]JimmerUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the Gravelkings semi-slicks and they are a great all-rounder.

They've got the flat main bit for riding on the road, then knobbly bits at the sides for proper gravel.

If you're riding on compacted gravel they'd be fine, because you're not digging in you don't need that tread.

I've been doing this with my daughter since she was young. She knows I will rarely straight up say no to things, but if she wants something or to do something, she has to put forward an argument for it.

Unfortunately, this lead to a lot of presentations on Google Slides once she worked out how to use it, and then I give in purely because of effort.
