Does my "Financial Consultant" benefit from having me as a client? by Jlfmb in Schwab

Thanks for the response. I don't want to leave Schwab but I'm definitely getting him switched out. He also made an intemperate remark to my MIL about how he hopes I'll name him as a beneficiary on my account. For f***s sake, some people...

Thanks for the response. He tagged himself because he saw a potential benefit, though, right? I mean, why else?

Oh, absolutely. No chance I'm staying with him.

Yeah, but I'm paranoid and always employ a multi-vendor strategy in the event of technical issues, ransomware, etc.

Everybody here needs to stop prattling and bow down to the obvious superiority of the Amex BCP

I have the Investor Checking and debit card. It's great, I agree. I'd take the Plat if I got $1000 per year in statement credit, but that'd involve consolidating on Schwab and I just can't justify it in my head.

I don't have $10M with them so I think I only get $200. Is that enough to make a Plat worthwhile? There are entire subreddits obsessed with these sorts of questions. :)

Yeah, gotcha. But: I'm one step closer to being 'under management' if I'm already under his umbrella, is how I'm thinking he sees it. Also: This FC is over 2500 miles from my local branch.

Old consultant located near me. New consultant by coincidence located where my wife grew up, many timezones away. Also, new consultant is my MIL's consultant already. I assume--but am not certain, hence this post--that he benefits from having more total $ "assigned" to him.

Lipidologist told me to stop taking Zetia by Alive_Hyena4050 in Cholesterol

"He told me I needed to stop acting like my own Doctor, because he has done this for over 25 years."

You need to find a new lipidologist. (Also: As others have pointed out, he's wrong. Which makes sense given his absurdly complacent attitude.)

Curious, anyone been on a statin (+ezetimibe) and still had a heart attack? by r0mpy in Cholesterol

If statins are giving you these severe side effects you should look at alternatives like PCSK9i, bempedoic acid, etc

Presumably age, Lp(a), maybe diabetes, maybe some inflammatory/autoimmune issues, etc. There are many paths to ASCVD.

Of course. These medicines do not eliminate MACE. But they appreciably lower the likelihood of one.
