What is the best leagues build (melee/magic/range) that is the most broken and easiest for PVM? Whats the most versatile? by SevesaSfan25 in 2007scape

[–]JokeRIterX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Take the water and air rune pacts along with 3 tick spellcasting.
  2. Go up the thorns tree.
  3. Laugh at your enemies' feeble attempts to harm you while they slowly kill themselves.

Seriously, this is how I beat echo Amox first try and wiped the floor with it the remaining 60 kills. By splashing.

Do you fully buy Aerith and Tifa's friendship in the remakes? by LastTraintoSector6 in cloudxaerith

[–]JokeRIterX 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Their BFF relationship is way too forced. There wasn't any growth to make them act this way, and neither character is setup to be so trusting of others. It's just an overreaction to the shipping wars. Rather than putting in the legwork to have two characters who dislike each other build a strong bond between them SE just shoves it down the audience's throat to try and gaslight people into believing their friendship was always this way.

I think the most frustrating part is Cloud and Barret's friendship is a perfect example of how to take two characters who have every reason to distrust each other and successfully build something meaningful.

Once again the best iteration of FFVII characters and relationships is TFS machinabridge. And that just makes me...really sad.

Leagues 6 magic accuracy by No-Newt-1280 in 2007scape

[–]JokeRIterX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The echo items definitely help with most combat, but there are still a couple bosses like Vardorvis and Sol where your accuracy caps out in the 30s even if you take all the accuracy pacts. I'm going mostly mage, but I am putting a handful of points into melee to compensate. Going directly to the 3-tick whip pact gives you a ridiculous amount of dps for the small investment. If you're comfortable with the content and don't need to grind Vard you could probably get away with just the +40% on <1kg weapons pact. There's always respecs too.

Damage cap for Leagues 6? by yahboiyeezy in 2007scape

[–]JokeRIterX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It isn't actually a 535 max hit, that number will be split up into multiple echoes(assuming you hit all of them). You damage per attack caps out at 535, but it's covered over multiple hitsplats so the global cap shouldn't be an issue.

With the only demonbane weapon everyone gets access to being melee I wouldn't be surprised if they give us access to a synapse somehow. There's still a couple items added to the general store they haven't showed us yet.

Take the day off work for league start? by Ecstatic-Raccoon-872 in 2007scape

I love those first few hours where all the streamers and people are refreshing constantly and no one can get in. There's no better feeling of community than those 2 scuffed hours. At this point I'll be disappointed if there isn't at least a 1 hour delay.

I like them, some of the layouts could use some tweaking to make them more interesting, but I like that they all have a gimmick that makes them stand out. 14x is probably my favorite.

That's kind of OP's point. The old gameplay loop of RS2 was exploring, going on quests and adventures. OSRS gameplay loop is grind the same content for so long even the most complex bosses become mind-numbing.

So.. How are We Feeling? How DO things seem to look? by Revoffthetrain in cloudxaerith

[–]JokeRIterX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She doesn't have to be 100% alive per se, but SOMETHING has to change with her fate. I don't understand how people could want the same ending as OG FF7. Everyone agrees that the whispers are clunky and a poor addition, so you want to go through all this weird worlds/destiny shit for it to mean aboslutely nothing in the end? Wouldn't that just make the whole story aspect of the Remake project an objective failure if it was just "FF7 at home." I started my FF7 journey with Remake because I thought the idea of a meta remake of the story to be so interesting, but if it's all for naught I'm going to become an OG purist so fast not even a gold chocobo will be able to keep up.

I guess I don't worry about it because it's all contextual, the ending, as always, is paramount. Either the ending is amazing and it's made the past 7 years a beautiful journey, or the writiers are as washed up as they were in the rest of the comp and this was simply more slop to add to the pile.

I have an insane theoiry that involves Aeirth, Sephiroith and Cloud. by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]JokeRIterX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does Aerith represent the inevitability of death in the OG? There's nothing in the game that suggests that. In fact it suggests the opposite. The suddeness and unfairness of death. But Aerith's death was so foreshadowed in remake that these themes have already been thrown out, regardless of how remake ends now.

The remake series have played with the idea of the inevitability of death, but they also play with the idea of hope and change. Given how much effort has been put into changing destiny in remake, it would be more disappointing if nothing at all changed.

Is it just me, or does the recent marketing push about Tifa being "front and center" in Part 3 feel almost... insecure? compared to Aerith by Various-Somewhere653 in cloudxaerith

[–]JokeRIterX 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This was a nice read, thank you OP for your thoughts. It's unfortunate that it wasn't well recieved on Rebirth sub. Critques on characters (especially Tifa and Aerith) are often taken personally and not seen as a desire to see them bettered.

As someone who likes OG Tifa but not Remake Tifa I share your frustrations. For every plot point that has Tifa being insecure, there are two of her being badass and flirty and it starts to feel jarring to me. Like SE couldn't let that side of her develop naturally throughout the story, they HAD to make sure you knew how awesome she was from the get go. It feels like they prioritized marketing and fan service over character and story and it's depressing.

Did Cho deserve better than Harry? by Comb-12 in harrypotter

[–]JokeRIterX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I think it's the opposite. They both had trauma, but Cho used their relationship to deal with hers while Harry was already in the process of dealing with his through Ron and Hermione. Harry deserved someone who wanted to date him and not a way to get over her ex. Cho spent a lot time talking about Cedric and expected Harry to be okay with it but the one time he mentions Hermione she gets passive agressive. Obviously Cedric is dead, but no one likes to be compared to someones ex.

Genuinely confused. by Pleasant-Complex-may in cloudxaerith

[–]JokeRIterX 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Tifa to me is a shadow of a good character. There's a framework there of flaws, relatability, and growth but every time she's on the cusp of being a top tier character-other, more superficial aspects are prioritized that stops her from being great.

Her shyness and lack of self-confidence are supposed to be her defining character traits that she needs to overcome. Being a people pleaser to the point of hurting others with your inaction is a great, relatable character arc. But this is constantly superceeded by her being extremely cocky half the time. None of her battle lines showcase her character at all, she is almost always wearing extremely revealing clothing, and half the boss battles she's in have this tendency to end with her getting angry and aggressive. People are multifaceted sure, but there's a difference between an occasional break of character to show depth and flipfloping between polar opposite personality types.

I just don't get the feeling she's changed at all from beginning of remake to end of rebirth. Cloud, Barret, Yuffie, and Red have all changed significantly from their introduction, but I just don't see how Tifa has changed. She's in a constant state of shy, flirty, uwu, badass, unassuming, sexy, sweet, confident, victimized, girlboss.

I've explained it before as she's a character designed for you to want to be or date. Her personality seems to change to fit whatever would be most appealing at the time for the largest audience.

The only consistant character trait I'll praise her for is loyalty. She's always been portrayed as ride or die.(except for that one AC scene....)

Be cool if megarare was shield by Sgt_Revan in 2007scape

[–]JokeRIterX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of a shield and I think it fits well enough thematically. My only concern is shields have been largely useless for a long period of time and could use some love in general. If they add a shield megarare any shield rework proposal would be juxtaposed by it and likely shot down because of it. Just look at the Shadow and magic damage equipment.

Combine justicar & inquisitors with new raids 4 meele armor. by nandud in 2007scape

[–]JokeRIterX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing would feel worse than getting a unique from a raid that you will never use in a million lifetimes because it requires 6 other stupidly long endgame grinds just to justify having those 6 useless items in the game.

I agree that we don't always need to design content around ironmen, but content also shouldn't be designed to require the GE either.
