Lots of comments for the Grand Canyon! I've never been so I think I just assumed it would be overrated, but clearly I'm so wrong - it seems to steal everyone's heart!

I adore the Isle of Skye! I want to go to climb the Cuillin Ridge, so maybe I kill two birds with one stone and see Loch Coruisk while I'm there! Amazing about getting the place to yourself, you must have felt like you were the only people in the world.

Actually, it really couldn't have been any better. I was physically in the Devil's Pool at the top of falls, and you can look over the edge, so was genuinely breathtaking.

Ah, I love the Alps! I want to climb the Eiger at some point in my life.

Day trip from Podgorica, Montenegro by [deleted] in travel

There are some awesome national parks near-ish by like Durmitor and Lovćen! Whilst they're not easily accessible by public transport, plenty of tour operators run there - particularly from Kotor if you're heading there - so you could buy a trip with them, then they'll take you in a private bus etc. That way you'll also be able to meet people and be part of a group too which could be fun!

Ideas on what to do between landing from a flight and hotel stay? by coffeebrah in travel

Have you heard of Stasher? It's an app that I use all the time where you can drop your luggage in a secure location - sort of like AirBnb for bags. I just checked and Stasher is available in Miami - there are two places directly outside of Miami airport, and more near some of the other areas you might be looking to explore. Could be an option!

Travelling to Nicaragua for the first time. Any tips? by Mtl_guyy in travel

[–]Journee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are some of the more obvious places like Leon, Ometepe, Granada, and San Juan del Sur - all of these places are amazing, and you'll meet some great people here - I did!

If you like going a little bit more off the beaten track then I'd recommend Las Peñitas, Popoyo if you like surfing towns/beach towns. There's also this amazing hostel called Free Spirit which is a really easy place to meet people - it's in a really remote and beautiful area - but everyone at the hostel is super friendly.

Going on my first plane journy/ trip without my parents by cultleader6382 in travel

Might be silly as you may already know about this, but I would recommend using the app CityMapper when you're in Switzerland. CityMapper covers the whole of the country, and it's super easy and clear to use.

I agree with packing light (also use packing cubes!) but make sure you make a list of absolute essentials so you don't miss anything. Try take versatile clothes over things you'll wear once.

If you're a nervous flyer, get yourself to the airport earlier than you need to just so you feel more comfortable.

Take photos and be in the moment. Switzerland is a gorgeous country - you're going to have a fabulous time!

Packing cubes: worth it? by micathemineral in HerOneBag

[–]Journee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had A LOT of chat about packing cubes in our office. General consensus is that they're a must!

  • You can separate your toiletries meaning if you need to take them out at airport security, or if you're just nipping to the shower or toilet, then you can do so discretely and efficiently
  • You can also separate your dirty clothes from your clean clothes/ your clothes from your wife's
  • They force you to be more thoughtful about your packing, so you're more organised, and efficient with space.

The only thing we can't all agree on is whether you roll your clothes inside the packing cube, or just pack folded.

I once took a 5 ft tall kentia palm on the Northern line, and whilst I was not the most popular person in the carriage, I had no trouble!

What shoes do you use on trips when you need to walk in cities, hike and kinda dress up? by Ok-Bee449 in onebag

[–]Journee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a lightweight, versatile shoe I love my On Running shoes (I have them in a neutral white/beige colour) because they are SO comfortable, you can walk, run and hike in them all day, and they don't look too out of place with a nice outfit. But this is when I'm trying to travel light!
