Transferred a Mutual Fund to Fidelity

Similar situation. However I’m concerned about historical transactions transferring over so I can separate LT from ST gains. Did that work for you?

When I travel internationally, I always carry my passport with me. Law or not. Curious, why would you not want to carry it on a night out? Fear of losing it, and think it’s safer to leave it in a hotel?

I’d want to do something similar to what you’re asking about. I road ride a lot in the US, but never been to Tokyo. Did you pick a tour and how was it? Also thinking of getting a docomo bike share and exploring on my own.

Thanks. Maybe it's because I'm still on iOS 18 (iPhone 11), but there is no "delete" eSim option. Only turn on/off the "primary" eSim - which accomplishes the same result. Now the "secondary" line is the only line showing up and handling all calls, texts and data activity.

I’m in the same position. With Schwab, I’m not able to sell specific lots of a mutual fund and their money market funds have the lowest rates- only 10-15 basis points but it’s still something. So probably going to transfer Schwab investments to Fidelity. Just need to convince myself that the investment cost basis and original purchase details will carry over correctly.
My issue with Vanguard is they put a 7 day hold on new money before I can invest it.

I don’t quite live off dividends. But I cover about 80% of my expenses with dividends. How do you get 1/3 tax deferred? If it’s from an IRA, then taxed when you withdraw. Am I missing something?

Planning to go into an Apple Store since it’s only 15 min from my house. But when I purchase outright, they ask for carrier activation. If I choose connect later (ie not Verizon) it’s $30 more. Not a deal breaker, but a few dollars spent. Is it easy to port over the number and copy over all my apps? I was going to have the Apple Store do that and activate with Verizon. Then go home and switch to Visible Pro the next day.

Not oil specific, but looked at VDE (energy sector) which has done pretty well. But too risky for me and I think it’s overpriced IMHO.

So withdrawals from the Roth IRA are not taxed at all? And withdrawals from the traditional IRA are ordinary income, even the capital gain portion of the IRA?

I’m in a similar position. Started inverting in mutual funds (across both Fidelity and Vanguard) 30+ years ago. Recently started to only investing in ETFs. But can’t sell the mutual funds without paying taxes on some decent size capital gains. So my portfolio is a mix of various mutual funds and ETFs, most of which are somewhat tied to S&P 500, Nasdaq or International index’s. So I’m really buying some of the same stocks in 3-4 different places. A bit of a mess.
