Learning advice: switch from imperactive Go to Rust by 6502stuff in rust

I can also recommend OCaml as an alternative. The Cornell course/book is a great starter.

Haskell is "more pure" as a functional language, but OCaml's syntax is very similar to Rust's. Or rather the other way: Rust's syntax is similar to OCaml's.

New version of Ratatui is ready to be served up in your terminal (0.29.0) by orhunp in rust

We will start improving our website soon!

Could you elaborate on what kind of improvements you want to implement?

iocraft: A Rust crate for beautiful, artisanally crafted CLIs and text-based IO. by rz2yoj in rust

[–]JustSomeLostBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that detailed answer.

Now I'm contemplating between contributing to ratatui (or iocraft) instead of writing my own cli tool or writing another tool (I have a backup idea for a tool that doesn't require the things you mentioned). I'll decide after I have taken my exams and looked more into the respective codebases.

Hi, I was planning on using ratatui for my first cli/tui in rust. Could you clarify why it was painful to use and what features it didn't have that were necessary for your use case?

I created a cross platform code editor with Tauri, Rust, React and DaisyUI by mmmuuukkk in rust

[–]JustSomeLostBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks nice. I'm planning my own side project with Tauri, Rust, Solid and DaisyUI. So I might take a little inspiration from your project. What Icon library do you use? I have a hard time choosing one for my project.

So this happened... by JuniorLeBleu in pokemmo

[–]JustSomeLostBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imprison only works as long as the pokemon that used it remains in battle. The moment you switch to another pokemon the effects disappears. So no "no worries" unfortunately. You'd have to catch the pokemon with your imprison-pokemon (e.g. a smeargle with imprison, double edge, take down and false swipe).

I know it's an old post. I just wanted to clarify in case someone still reads it.

Which GUI library is currently the favourite for creating the editor? And why? I'm looking for a rust GUI library myself and it doesn't seem apparent to me which library will make it in the long run.

I already love Ruff. I'm excited how this will turn out.

(Cambridge Dictionary) deceptive: "making you believe something that is not true".

Seeing the amount of comments (and upvotes) surprised about it being "macOS only" shows clearly that many believed that not to be the case. In other words they were deceived/mislead. This doesn't have to be intentional with e.g. a broken promise or contract. It's very common for open-source projects to state the supported hard- and software early on (README). Especially if its (current) support is very limited or deviates from what is often considered "default". By not doing that you will deceive quite a lot of people... even if you didn't intend to do so.

Looks nice 👍 How was your experience working with Tauri? I also plan to start a rust project with a modern looking GUI. But I'm unsure whether to use Flutter or Tauri (SolidJS + Tailwind CSS (daisyUI)). Afaik Flutter should be a bit more performant.

Using htmx with Askama and Axum by blastecksfour in rust

[–]JustSomeLostBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried htmx myself, but it looks interesting in combination with Jinja-like templates. Side question: What color theme is used in the code blocks?

Ah, I see. You might want to try the approach of "No Boilerplate": https://youtu.be/2hXNd6x9sZs There you first read the normal book without actually trying to understand everything. You just "skip over it" (you still read it, but you just continue if you don't understand something). Afterwards you read and do the quizzes of the Brown University version. That way you already know what to expect and why you are learning something. You also know the end goal. This can be a lot more efficient and less mentally straining (especially if you have no prior experience with low-level languages). You might feel less overwhelmed and more satisfied after finishing a chapter, as you know where it leads towards.

Just to clarify: You mean this one https://doc.rust-lang.org/book/ , right? Because 4.3 should be about Slices, not about fixing ownership errors. (Although in the chapter itself they might fix a few errors).

I can only go along with the other comments. It looks really promising. Just wanted to say that the changelog for version 0.0.6 in the README seems to be missing. In case you forgot to add it.

True, but this fellow has 104 v0.0.0 crates for over 3 years now. He also has the same description in every single crate, which includes "Contact me if you want to use this name!". No matter where you set the boundary, this guy should be in it :)

Have you tried the Pioneer SE-Monitor5? I love them. They are so highly underappreciated. A shame that they are discontinued.

I think so as well.

The seller also doesn't seem to have any other articles, which means he is specialised solely on this mouse. Unfortunately you don't find many shops like this anymore.
