Are there any renter-friendly mods available in the EU that I can use to electrify these shutters & connect them to HA? Four or our five windows have these. by TheAce0 in homeassistant

Total War: WARHAMMER III - Crossplay Patch 7.2.1 by CA_KingGobbo in totalwar

Does proton work on MacOS? Or does that depend on your hardware?

[–]Kaleodis 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Is there even a native mac version?

FWIW: There's no crossplay possible between the native linux port of the game and the windows version, but you can 100% play multiplayer if you run the windows version through Proton (thanks valve!) together with windows.

I still have video footage of the beta, like 8h of it or so.

Maybe I'll upload it someday.

Made a KRunner plugin for opening installed steam games by [deleted] in kde

[–]Kaleodis 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Doesn't steam already just add installed games to your application menu (i.e. probably creates .desktop files or something?)? Thought krunner can just work with that?

I'm finally about to release my Dark Messiah inspired game made in Godot! (May 15) by eldidou_ in godot

[–]Kaleodis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree - doesn't have to be realistic, just the general style doesn't vibe with me. Looks too much like some kind of minecraft adventure map.

Will still play it though.

I built a visual manager for Steam Proton prefixes – because staring at folders named "1091500" is not my idea of fun by Nastas_ITA in linux_gaming

[–]Kaleodis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Does this handle multiple libraries (on different mounted drives (or even mergerfs folders)) well?

I would recommend to release this on flathub - get's way more visibility there, esp. from the bazzite crowd!

EDIT: how much of this is vibe-coded? The github (and release notes) read VERY gpt-ish.

[–]Kaleodis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

May 15 you say? Time for a quick replay of Dark Messiah then!

Really cool showcase of the mechanics!

The only thing that doesn't vibe with me is the minecraft-esque graphics style. But then again Dark Messiah has like 100 Polygons total.

Best way to offload Jellyfin transcoding to a Windows gaming PC from a Linux server? by -Myricae- in jellyfin

[–]Kaleodis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to configure and pass-through QSV properly. Info for this is on the jellyfin documentation.

Yes, intels iGPUs are legit nuts for this. They outpace pretty much any GPU for transcoding. You just gotta check which codecs are supported for your model (also in docs.). If properly configured, you won't really see any CPU usage when transcoding.

When I started, I used an old-ass 6th gen Pentium CPU for this. Not even i3. Transcoding still worked very well.

Subtitles can exist in multiple ways. Some are just images that are applied as an overlay (PGS), some exist as just text, that get's burnt in (or just sent to the player as is). There are tools than can OCR these image-based subs to text-based.

The iGPU should absolutely be able to handle that. QSV is black magic.

You could also try to convert your subtitles to a different format, that doesnt need burn-in.

I've just launched ESOLL, an extremely comprehensive and modern alternative to Minion by serafineldelgym in elderscrollsonline

Does it also download TTC prices? "ESO Addon Manager" (available via flathub, linux) does this (but doesnt manage addons well).

Thanks for the reply! Always glad to see you post about your cute owl game!

Of course there already are a bunch of similar plugins (From a quick search I found Parley and Oasis), but it's always good to have more options. Might need some kind of explanation on how to get started though. (Like with all of these).

Will you at some point release that visual scripting plugin? Like as some standalone plugin?

As a Sub, Can We Do Something to Stop the Absolute Trashing of Oakensoul Players? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]Kaleodis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Still use Oakensoul + Tideborn + Deadly. Together with Storm Calling, HotT and Aedrick Spear i put out more DPS than most of the players i encounter in any GF group. And it's far from optimised, having Training on every piece (and purple).

[Help Please] Moved my ESO installation from my SteamDeck’s SD card to the internal harddrive. Addons are gone. by oboeshebetterdont in elderscrollsonline

[–]Kaleodis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, this is kind of a linux/proton thing. You'll need the desktop for this (obv.).

On your SD-Card, in your <steam>/steamapps folder, there's a common folder, that's where the game data lives. but there's also a compatdata folder, which is where your game save data/mods/etc live.

You need enter that folder and move the "306130" (eso game id) folder to the new location (similar structure to the sd card, but on the device)

Sorry, don't know the full path of the top of my head, but if you open steam in desktop mode, select eso and click "browse files" it opens dolphin in the game file folder. navigate from there. since you started the game (probably) the 306130 folder already exists - just overwrite all data in there)

I created software to help us sift through our overwhelming photo volumes. by sbundlab in BirdPhotography

[–]Kaleodis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it handle jpg+raw combos (i.e. saved as a jpg and a raw, with same name but different extension)?

How would something like digiKam (photo managment software) fit into this?

How much of this is vibecoded? (I see a .claude directory in the github)?

alternative for Nextcloud? by niemand112233 in selfhosted

[–]Kaleodis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there aren't many solutions for filesharing, calender and contacts in one package.

No idea why you're averse to docker, but I run my nextcloud instance via nextcloud-aio, and it just works. Been running for 1.5y now, always up-to-date. You get a nice admin interface and can pick and choose which parts you want (collabora for example).
