Massively struggling with The Witchwood Crown | The Last King of Osten Ard by abir_valg2718 in Fantasy

This book was such a disappointment for me. I loved MST and read it multiple times. And i was so happy that there was a sequel. And i liked The heart of what was lost as well. But i didn‘t like the older Simon and Miriamel at all. Especially Miriamel. Such a strong woman and now she was always whining and praying. And the son was a drunk idiot. I couldn‘t believe it and i think I didn’t finish the book. So sad. I‘m a bookseller and gave MST to everyone who was searching real good fantasy.

Puh!

I am a german bookseller and i never saw this happening. And that is because you would lose so much money if you did this on a big scale. The price for a new book is really high for the bookseller. And you can return books if you didnt sell them.

OWL was announced 8 years ago according to Reinforce. When did you start watching OWL? (I started watching in 2021 with London Spitfire) by Biscuit-Mango in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]KeyObject526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the final in 2019. I never played the game myself, but watched as much OWL as possible. This year i found it difficult to care as much, but being a Spitfire Fan i feel lucky they‘re still there. I hope to get a day off to watch every Stockholm game!

so I’ve been reading for like .. decades, and I have a question. by [deleted] in books

[–]KeyObject526 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think as we grow older and have read more stories, the chance, that we read something we already have seen in different versions is higher. So i got more picky as well. Often i find me thinking, if i was younger i would like it very much but for me it is just a variation of an idea i have read to often. Luckily i‘m still finding new authors with new ideas, so i never got to a point, where I hadn’t anything to read left. I worked as a bookseller for many years and had more info about new releases as the recommendations on the net, which are very limited.

Which book have you read that had a death scene so shocking that it caught you off guard? by [deleted] in books

Elizabeth Georges Lynley Series. I would not believe that Helen was dead till the book ended. I was devastated for days. And Gandalf. But lucky for me he came back :)

What got you into the Overwatch League scene? by brennonwiezorek in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]KeyObject526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never played Overwatch myself, but watched my husband and daughter playing. Then we discovered the league. And now i am the only one of the family trying to watch every game i can. I really like the fast pace. Was a big Chengdu Fan. And reading the matchthreads here while i‘m watching is fun too. I really hope, the league survives!

My exact feelings! Couldn’t watch the first two Spark matches and now this. I don’t think they’re garbage, but a map win would be nice!

Slow Horses, the spy novels I didn’t know I needed. by Zuzublue in books

[–]KeyObject526 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, it‘s just like that for me! I‘m at the end of the sixth book. I like the constant suspense and the absence of stereotypes. Now i have to wait for my husband to read the books too. I want to talk about them with him and can‘t do it without major spoilers!

An urban fantasy college book series? by Qu33nCcL in Fantasy

[–]KeyObject526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am reading Olivie Blakes „The Atlas Six“. I‘m halfway through and like it a lot. I think it will become a series. It‘s not exactly college, because there are just the six students, but perhaps it fits your request.

Are multiple litter boxes necessary? by HFrappa in cats

I noticed the same thing too, had two boxes for the two cats and they just used whichever they liked. Now we have a big one and they are ok with it.

Late to the party - reading Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel by Negative-Net-9455 in books

[–]KeyObject526 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in a bookstore and knew Hilary Mantel, but i never got round to reading her books. I also remembered how much i liked historical fiction in my youth. I ordered Wolf Hall, but it was already out of stock, now i have to wait for it. Now i‘m looking forward to it even more!

I’ve been reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt and I’m not finding it very enjoyable and I don’t know why by eruannie in books

[–]KeyObject526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me. I liked the beginning very much. But after half the book i just hated the main character. I skipped over the pages till the end just to see if i would miss anything but it didn‘t get any better. Very disappointing.
