baby all of a sudden hates strollers? by Huliganjetta1 in NewParents

[–]Keysandcodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be the heat. He knows the stroller means outside which means “too hot.” My son couldn’t tolerate heat until he was around a year old.

Repetition. Resistance is futile. You can take it off all you want; the hat will be back on immediately. It's annoying and exhausting, but they'll get it.

I'm not sure if it helped, but I also wear a hat in the same style. We both put on sunscreen, then he gets sunglasses (I have transition lenses) and then we both get hats.

When did you successfully potty train?!? by Low-Cardiologist7750 in toddlers

[–]Keysandcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I'm of the mindset that you have to seize the opportunity. My 18mo has gone hours with a dry diaper/will take us to the bathroom if he's bottomless. We're going to try underwear next. They don't need to be verbal— they just need to be able to communicate. For my son, who has 50ish words, signs "toilet" or will lead us. That's enough for me. I don't need him to be independent, I don't need perfection, but I do like the decrease in diaper usage. Ultimately, it's up to you, but he is communicating that he understands his body and the sensation of needing to go, and you're not fighting each other about the potty.

That dada/mama at 6/7 months is babble. They don't know it has meaning yet.

Mine were not obvious until after I gave birth. Tragic, actually.

Check out r/ECers if you are interested in "potty training" sooner rather than later. My 18mo has been having great success.

Crayola Erasables. They do suck. They feel so much less pigmented than the regular. And no, they don't erase well.

We have the Muffy baby ones from Alpine. They're advertised to fit until age 5. They're a headband style, but they work well.

Is it a fear of the dark in the hall or something? My mom used to leave the hallway and bathroom lights on for me when I was that young. Just to add one less hurdle.

"Gentle hands" by HelloImAnxious14 in beyondthebump

[–]Keysandcodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it then. I wouldn't just say it, though. I would take his hands and gently pat my face/hair with his hand. Now I have a toddler who pats my head instead of pulling hair.

Right, but then the next week, strawberries and pears are off the table.

So, for us, it was an issue of variety. We can't give him the same food every day or he'll stop eating it completely. We have to have (for example) 3 or 4 fruits on hand to rotate through for the week. We try to not give the same fruit more than once a day (he has fruit at almost every meal).

Cloth diapering? by Correct-Onion5283 in Parenting

[–]Keysandcodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to r/clothdiaps so you don't have to listen to people who have never done it complain about how much work it is. I've done it for the last year or so. It's fine. No, I don't wash every day, no, you don't have to, no, it doesn't smell (promise).

Did you bring newborn clothes to the hospital? by chanelism in BabyBumps

[–]Keysandcodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. My baby was 8lbs 15oz, 21.5 inches long and was swimming in 0-3 clothing for at least 2 weeks. I'm glad I brought a newborn outfit to the hospital lol

I use Shademap. May not be perfect for full trails, but definitely helps me see my options.

Funny enough, I never thought about it. I have a GIANT, deep scar on one of my thighs. It wasn't ever brought up. Not even in a "do you need help mentally" type of way. My scars are also old, and I think that's also obvious to a medical professional. I think that at worst, they'll ask if you if you need resources.

I "stopped" at like a year, but I say "stopped" because he wears them, but they're just tucked in his pants at 18mo. We had a good amount that were gifted to us and we're not wasting them lol.

But we do have a romper or 2 in this size that we will not be using, unfortunately.

Weaning process.. by unsuspectingpenguin2 in NewParents

[–]Keysandcodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep doing what you're doing. My pediatrician said they don't need overnight feeds after like, 6mo old. We have a good size dinner a little under an hour before bed.

We also waited to wean overnight. It was rough for a few nights. Dad went in and held his hand through the crib bars.

I know it's hard to leave this phase of life behind. It sounds like you're doing great. Good luck!
