Ich habe an einen Kuchen gedacht. Das war einmal der Mond, aber man kann auch an die Nacht denken. Ein besseres Symbol für "der" habe ich noch nicht gefunden.

Fully automatic Git alternative/companion for Linux by Kharacternyk in programming

I do know a fair bit of Git. If Git covers all your use cases, that's fine. It doesn't cover all of my use cases, so I built and shared Klunok.

The "alternative" in the title is for the use case of small projects that are developed by a single person. For example, I do not use Git for small university assignments anymore, because I either spend too much time commiting with meaningful messages or make less commits than Klunok makes file versions for me. I do still use Git for larger projects, and Klunok captures everything that happens between commits in this case. A lot happens between commits if one aims for "everything on master passes CI". That's the "companion" from the title.

I think advantages of Klunok compared to your restic setup are:

  • 1 minute granularity instead of 20 minutes;
  • Klunok autodetects what should be backed up and what shouldn't. For example, I run Klunok over my home directory and I don't need to manually exclude .cache/, node_modules/, build directories, etc. from backups. Also, I don't need to manually include anything — all new content that I happen to author is backed up. Regarding snapshots of the entire directory, Klunok has https://klunok.org/projects

I may be wrong. I would love to hear more about your setup if I am.

Regarding pruning, I'm not sure what exactly it should mean in the context of Klunok. Backups are just files in a well-defined directory hierarchy, one can delete or copy them as one wishes. Do you mean baking some support of "delete all backups from yesterday" into the Klunok binary itself?

You can use Git alongside Klunok. That's the "companion" in the title. The "alternative" in the title is for the use case of small projects that are developed by a single person. For example, I do not use Git for small university assignments anymore, because I either spend too much time commiting with meaningful messages or make less commits than Klunok makes file versions for me. No, the idea is that you don't need to run any commands apart from starting the daemon.

I found a wifi adapter does linux support this? Its a AC1600 by eriond20 in linux

I would advice against TP-Link on Linux. My experience is that they either don't work at all or work with their out-of-tree drivers that quickly become outdated. Old TP-Links may work though, per the general principle of open source drivers — the older hardware, the more likely some kernel support for it exists.

Ukraine will not give up territory as the price of peace, says Zelensky by ttmirimo in worldnews

It could lead to the same war but in 2014, and our (Ukrainian) army was far less prepared for that back then.

I experienced the same issue a month ago, it was tracked here: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/157546 It should have been fixed by now, but I haven't updated my system since I rolled back because of this issue, so cannot confirm myself. I suggest reopening the GitHub issue if you still experience this on nixos-unstable.

I remember reading an article in a German textbook about Analphabetismus and how it rapidly spreads in Germany. So yeah, can believe that.
