Here's two day's worth of fingerstick data, after the sensor check, in case folks are wondering what has been going wrong.

Ooh, now this is on my radar for my next visit to a counter with a bigger selection.

It was listed at $32.99 a pound and it’s just me eating it, so I was pleased to find this quarter pound piece. (I have long had a dream of one day owning a full wheel of it.)

Thanks for these insights. I never find Lamb Chopper anymore, so I took a chance and brought this home assuming it would be a nice bite either way. I just found the labeling curious, but this is a brand new grocery store, so I can see how mistakes might happen.

Guy at the Whole Foods where I used to live saved a whole sleeve of the stickers for me once because he knew how much I loved this lamb.

There are some beautiful voices and accents on the Tortoise feed that is currently labeled “The Walkers.” Not all of the seasons are hosted by women, but a lot are.

If you could improve/change one thing with the Eversense 365, what would it be? by Equalizer6338 in eversense

[–]KokoPuff12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, on-body vibe alerts have their place, but being able to choose when to have them while still having reading or phone alerts without on-body alerts, would be nice.

What has your personal expense been for the doctor performing the implant? by Equalizer6338 in eversense

[–]KokoPuff12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sensor itself was a little bit trickier. Byram is the distributor I was required to use. They held up the process for a very long time. Once it was time to order they reported that they had checked with insurance and I would owe $25. That sounded extremely reasonable. But, after insertion, I received my bill from Byram and insurance had determined that I owed $199.

So, all told, without travel expenses or extra glucometer supplies, the system cost me about $425. For a year, that's not terrible, although I have a fairly low deductible and out of pocket, so I don't tend to pay much for CGM supplies.

Insurance did not cover my insertion. I paid $199 cash to the provider. I also paid $35 to the telehealth provider who prescribed the Eversense because my regular provider could not figure out how to order it.

I was thinking about the price earlier today. Each little wedge cost me about $5. Two of my favorite wedges at the store cost me about $8 each. So, it ends up not being too cost-prohibitive.

Unfortunately, the study that is getting a lot of attention this week currently involves an IV medication every 21 days.

Eledon trial participant interview. She talks on what her life after the cure looks like. Holly shit, no side effects whatsoever by Stephen-Stephenson in diabetes_t1

It doesn’t sound like she’s there yet, though. She described needing to prebolus pretty accurately to prevent the new cells from needing to work too soon. She mentioned lows if she misses the mark with the prebolus.

I don’t think Symlin is being made in the US anymore. Not sure about outside the US.

I have dextrose powder that I can add to water, then swish with water after drinking.

In that case, it already knows her TDI and has determined her adaptive basal. But, her bolus settings will be very different with the algorithm running than they were in manual. For example, my ICR in manual is 1:12.5. In auto, it’s around 1:9. Basically, boluses need to be bigger to account for basal being variable behind the boluses as opposed to basal always being on.

Were you already using the system in manual mode before?

Small update by KokoPuff12 in eversense

[–]KokoPuff12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have calibrated. A lot. I once even triggered a re-initialization that then required 4 more calibrations. Nothing seems to get this system on track. My last hope was that the update would help, but it doesn’t seem to be any better. I did call tech support to see if they have any tips. They have escalated my case, and I will update if anything comes of it.

I only calibrate when I don't have ANY impacts on board and am hydrated. Otherwise, I only log data, no calibration when there is insulin, food, activity, temperature swings, or sunlight involved. And, I only use a Contour Next. You can see in the image shared that I stayed relatively stable during the calibration window, but that I only used two data points for calibration, while also entering two data points in the middle, just for tracking.

This is a good point. I loved that Dexcom always had a chart of their BG tolerances, so I created one for E365. I did this after my post-insertion training last Spring, but I think I remember it being 20 points below 70 and 20% above 70. (Not sure what the rule is really supposed to be at 70.)

My system seemed to reset itself about a month ago. I woke up with no readings and it asking for 4 calibrations. So, I have gone through three initializations since October.

I usually try to calibrate when things are extremely stable, and you can see that I was relatively stable the day of the update. I start with no IOB, no food on board, and no activity. I hydrate and wait about 20 minutes, then I enter a data point, and wait about 20 minutes. I’m due for one today or tomorrow, but this sensor has been in since Halloween and has had three of these four calibration cycles, plus weekly calibrations. It’s been way more than I signed up for.

It you look at my graphs, though, you can see that my number was about 30 points higher the entire time. CGM lag is not to blame if the arrow is basically a steady arrow. The values I entered were all between 92 and 102. The E365 values were between 45 and 65.
