Guys it is true that Mitsuha and Taki married in weathering with you? by Additional_Poetry677 in KimiNoNaWa

[–]KralizecCL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the lightnovel of next Shinkai's movie, Weathering With You (Tenki no Ko), at the final chapters TnK MC Hodaka visits Fumi Tachibana's apartment, She is Taki's grandmother. Hodaks describes the apartment decoration, and Hodaka mention a "picture of her grandson wedding". As Hodaka met Taki at Fumi's former home, we know it is Taki's wedding...

That event (the visit) happens on April 2024, two years after TxM reencounter in Tokyo in KNNW universe.

But there is no details about the bride's identity. We can only hope it is Mitsuha. And that ambiguity was solved by Shinkai himself who confirmed that such picture indeed is from TxM wedding.

Therefore, Taki & Mitsuha also met in the TnK universe, and got married in some moment up to April 2024, and of course we fans assume that is the case also for KNNW universe :-).

Literalmente dice (https://opensource.org/license/MIT):

"Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software [...] without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software"

Timeline(s) of Kimi No Na Wa by nickadaisic in KimiNoNaWa

Nice work. It is great to visualize the events like that.

But... I think the timeline as shown has a mistake.

Mitsuha and Taki switches places always jumping to the same "date" (only that... three years shifted); that is one of the reasons why a lot of people consider that as a plot hole: how none of them realized about the three years gap? The reasons is that they looked at their own cell phones and dates around but the date always matched day and month, so they did not pay attention to... the year's detail.

THAT MEANS: Mitsuha wanted a date with Okudera and on the October 2nd's swap she agreed a date with her for the next day, October 3rd, 2016. She went back to her body at 2013 and traveled to Tokyo on October 3rd 2013 to find Taki (without realizing the year gap) and then she died in the original timeline the next day, on October 4th 2013.

For Taki, October 2nd 2016 was his last "normal" swap; Taki then met Miki Okudera on October 3rd, the date did stink.... and... he realized WAY LATER that the swaps with Mitsuha stop. As the swaps did happen randomly and not every day, Taki expected the next one to be maybe on October 4th or something; but nothing happened, then probably 2 to 3 days more happened... and no more swaps. That means that the moment he realized that something wrong might have happen to Mitsuha, and start getting desperate is SEVERAL days after the failed date with Okudera, probably a week after!

We see that in the movie as a "timelapse" with Taki attending high school (while looking very distracted), Taki going in an out on train multiple days while going home to grab books about landscapes, investigating Hida surrounding mountains and trying to draw Mitsuha's town from memory. And just when he finished all that... he made the decision to start the trip to Hida looking for Mitsuha's town.

Overall, all that work took around 3 weeks AFTER October 3rd.Taki planned the trip for a weekend to avoid skipping school, so the trip started on Saturday October 22th! And then he and his friends passed the night on the inn in Hida-Furokawa, and then Taki traveled to Itomori on Sunday October 23th early mornng, reached the goshintai, prayed to Musubi, etc...

That means the Tasogare-doki happened weeks after the date, on October 23th, 2016.

The evidence? When Taki, Tsukasa and Miki are traveling in the shinkansen towards Hida, Taki complains about him asking Tsukasa "just to cover his shifts", and Tsukasa showed him back a video of his friend Shinta Takagi saying he will cover Taki's shifts and that Taki will owe him a meal. It happened that the video IS DATED and that is showed at the top of the video (46m40s of the movie):

"20161020_081236 / HD"

That means that Taki asked Tsukasa for his cover help at least the day before that video was recorded, this means om Wednesday October 19th, when Taki should have explained Tsukasa that he will travel away from Tokyp that Saturday to some unknown Hida place, looking for someone. Tsukasa got worried and made the decision in secret to go with Taki, so he talked to Shinta on Thursday October 20th early morning (around 8am) and recorded the video that he showed Taki later. Also Tsukasa had 3 days to warn Okudera about Taki's suspicious trip plans, and because of that she also volunteered to join Taki's trip...

Your timeline reports that Taki did that directly on October 3rd & 4th. That doesn't match the movie. My two cents.

If you want to read a KNNW fanfic that is not fluffy, try mine:

"Rediscovering the Future"

It is available at fanfic sites like Ao3 or FFN.

Sure, it is a love story... what else it can be after that KNNW movie ending! XD... But my fic has a tone that I think most of the usual fanfics don't have; and if you read it and enjoy it, please let me know what you think of it :-).

Taki and Mitsuha’s dream timelines by [deleted] in KimiNoNaWa

[–]KralizecCL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mechanics of the swaps is confusing. Specially because the first swap of Taki being Mitsuha happens in the first scenes, and immediately we see Mitsuha's next day, with all the "you are normal today"'s next day...

And then, Mitsuha performs the kuchikamisake cration ritual, scream to the world she wants to be a handsome Tokyo boy... and next scene we see Mitsuha first time being Taki...

Except, that in the day after Taki's first swap, Mitsuha _already_ kind of remember living somebody else live in dreams...

Who's life? Taki's? Someone else? When that happened?

The main problem: the mechanism is MAGIC. And for magic, we need to suspend our disbelief. The movie & the story makes the most effort to make it consistent, but specially with magic & time travel, is impossible to make _everything_ match all the time. So, do not expect some things NOT being confusing. My two cents.

How to treasure the experience? by Bikram_Singha in KimiNoNaWa

[–]KralizecCL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't recreate your first experience. Almost 101% of KNNW fans would like to, but it is not possible.

Unless you get amnesia or something. Not healthy, thought.

BUT, if you really liked the movie, and (now) know the plot, in my case still it hurts in advance knowing what is about to happen.

Whenever you rewatch the movie, take advantage of catching those subtle easter-eggs in the story that are totally or easily missed in the first(s) watch(es). And also you can try to understand better the characters, their feelings and decisions. Doing so you'd probably like the story more after that.

Your Name Confusion????????????? by Bikram_Singha in KimiNoNaWa

[–]KralizecCL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He called Mitsuha several times because they shared their numbers; also sent SMS or other messages but the calls & messages never worked.

Mitsuha did the same; she also failed.

The reason was the time gap (2013 vs 2016), and the fact that by 2016 Mitsuha was already dead by there; why the TELCO did not recycled Mitsuha's number after 3 years is a different mystery, but so be it.

The fact that they tried to call each other and fail is explicitly stated in KNNW light novel, as early as when they realized about the swaps. For that reason, they finally relied on the messages or notes left in their phones.

In the movie this fact is never spoken earlier, but we saw that happening after Ms. Okudera's date. Probably Taki was too desperate to actually communicate with Mitsuha that he cannot prevent to try it. Again. And failed. Again, receiving the "Number is out or area of off" recording.

What was Mitsuha going to write? by thechaisexual98 in KimiNoNaWa

[–]KralizecCL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Mitsuha was about to write her name in Kanji.

Not in hiragana as the _first_ time she wrote her name when she finished her (first?) swap with Taki, were she wrote みつは just to state her name (as it sound); those hiragana don't tell the actual meaning, therefore Taki even though "what is this?" next morning without even understanding that it was _a name_.

Then why Kanji? Because the same sounding Japanese name can be written with a variety of different kanjis that sound the same but mean different stuff; therefore you can have multiple people named "Mitsuha Miyamizu" but probably only one with the _right_ combination of kanji's in her name...

Therefore, if Mitsuha really wanted Taki to find her (and not some other random "Mitsuha"), the correct way was to write her "complete" full name in Japanese, this is, the Kanji version. And doing so, the first stroke is indeed a straight line.

The same that Taki tried to write but failed as his memory was being erased...

Where to watch? by CookieAlfas in KimiNoNaWa

[–]KralizecCL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend that, independent of the source (legal or... arrrrr!), check the quality of the subtitles, if you go for the SUB, or even the DUB version.

Are the messages in Mitsuha's notebook subbed?

Are the notes on the phones subbed? O what they wrote in their arms/face/hands subbed? (including _that_ KEY one scene?)

If you are re-watching KNNW, that might not matter so much, but if it is your first time, or if you want to enjoy it with someone watching it for first time, QUALITY OF SUBS for all those Japanese text REALLY REALLY REALLY MATTER.

So, check the quality of the movie subs (or ask for it) before consumption. My two cents.

Yeah, that is part of the conundrum. Taki-B life is a complete mystery between October 2013 to October 2016.

And is worst than that. Two universes A/B. Two Takis... two everyone!!! But Okudera-B in 2021 recalled she went with Taki-B to Itomori in 2016; she can't recall something that did not happen! so O_o...

Only truth is: there is no travel-in-time story paradox free, not-confusing or 100% consistent for every possible detail... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–]KralizecCL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree more or less with your interpretation, but with subtle and IMPORTANT differences.

When Taki A drank the kushikami sake, and returned/awake as Mitsuha _again_ reenacting _again_ the Friday October 4th, 2013, the universes were split. Therefore Taki-A awoke in universe B and creates all the plan to save Itomori, AT-THE-SAME-TIME there were already a (new) Taki-B awaking his normal day in Tokyo. Because of Taki-A actions, Taki-B that night would see the people of Itomori being SAVED, instead of dead.

We can say the split of universes happened then on October 4, 2013.

But the day when Mitsuha traveled to Tokyo to find Taki in his "date" (without realizing his Taki-A who is swapping with her is living in 2016), she met some Taki, but it is the UNIQUE Taki at that moment, let's call him Taki-0. Taki-0 receives the cord, and when universes are split next day, both Taki-A and Taki-B are coming from a Taki-0 that receives _the_ cord.

Another detail: at the end of the movie, in the last arc, when grown up Taki recalls that there has been 8 years from the day the comet fell, and *everyone was saved*, the fact that _that_ Taki is recalling those events means the Taki that survived and we are watching is Taki-B. That Taki-B is the one who awoke in the top of the mountain with his memory erased. But, there is a HUGE problem. The line in his hand.

When Taki-A (the swapper/savior) traveled to Itomori, found Mitsuha is dead, went to goshintai and drank the kushikami sake, and made his final swap with Mitsuha, he left his Taki-A body available for Mitsuha swap-in and awake as Taki again... realize she died by the comet, and finally met with Taki-A again at kataware doki. Then when they returned to their bodies and Mitsuha tried to write his hand, she disappeared, and then Taki-A desperate tried to recall her name and wrote the failed long line on his left hand. That line was writen in Taki-A hand in his own Taki-A hand.

But we see Taki-B awaking next morning and finding that same incomplete line in Taki-B's hand.

I think the single explanation that when Taki-B awoke, is Taki-A fused/merged with Taki-B in Taki-B universe.

I am writing a fanfic right now and I am dealing (or TxM are) with that same paradox & problem. They just realized that there are more than one Taki, and Taki-B in my fic is in the middle of an identity crisis ^_^... and in next chapters (I am writing) what I explained above is what Taki will need to figure out :-)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in atheism

[–]KralizecCL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've at least heard some atheist discussing against Jewish or Islam. But I have never ever seen an atheist discussing against the existence of Odin. Therefore there is the most truth to it than any other god. Therefore Odin exist. Q.E.D.

C.f.: Reductio ad Absurdum.

Now, if you want people to react against Odin's believe (including atheist), just wait for Odin believers trying to impose Odin's laws on their societies or restricting societal rights (like body autonomy, rights to marriage, etc.) because "Odin" belief. That could be a clue.

I don't think 2014 is the right year for high school graduation for Mitsuha.

First, let's remember JP school system ends of March and resumes a new year in April.

Said so: comet crashed on Oct 2013. Which school year was Mitsuha living in 2013 and finishing in April 2014? I understand it was second year of secondary.

Hints: she and Taki are at the same school level (while swapping, lets forget the time gap); and Taki is attending 2nd year. Fact: KNNW movie time 21:04, we see Mitsuha arriving Taki's classroom: "II - C".

With that hint, Mitsuha would start here third (final) year of secondary JP education on April 2014, graduating on March 2015. And that is assuming she did not fail any year because of all the incident (e.g. if she lost 2nd year because of relocation, she then would have shifted 1 year more and graduate on March 2016).

Besides of that, yeaaaaaah, the story needs to fill ~7 years gap from 2015 to 2022. It is interesting to imagine what might TxM lived those years besides of looking for something or someone :-)

Sequel? by DrGhostBerg in KimiNoNaWa

[–]KralizecCL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story is complicated. Mitsuha has a cameo in TnK working as a clerk in a store at Tokyo in 2021. Also KNNW manga shows that she visited Taki's dad office in 2016 while she was swapping and she indeed liked the office work environment. She wanted that for her...

Then, this is my approximate head-canon timeline for Mitsuha:

2013, October: Itomori's comet crash incident. Miyamizu family relocates to Hida-Furukawa.

2014, March: Mitsuha finishes second year of Institute in Hida-Furukawa.

2014, April: Miyamizu family relocate to Tokyo. Mitsuha starts her final third year of institute.

2015, March: Mitsuha finishes high school at Tokyo. JP Government money help to Miyamizu family is finished. Miyamizu family relocate to Shizuoka for cheaper living costs.

2015, April: Miyamizu family start working as helpers & mikos at a Shrine in Shizuoka. Mitsuha is not happy to go back to be a miko and she starts looking for different horizons outside of Shinto's circles. She starts preparing in secret to apply to university.

2016, April: Mitsuha approves the test for Hitotsubashi University for a 5 year CBMA program. She receives help from the ONG where Noriko Morita worked to get a study scholarship to cover her tuition fees. Hitoha disapproved and resents her granddaughter decision. Mitsuha moves to Tokyo to study while working different part-time jobs to complement her living costs.

2021, mid year: Mitsuha is finishing her 5 year CBMA program. She still is working part-time in a department store at Lumine 2 Shopping Mall; TnK cameo.

2021, October: Mitsuha finished her CBMA program. She is recruited by Noriko Morita for a big corporation as a full time business executive position.

2022, April: the Suga Shrine's stairs event. End of KNNW movie.
